Hey guys! Can you please let us know what you thought about our Top 5 debate list segment we tried today? Did you like it? Should we do it again? How can we improve it? Thanks guys!
Hello, Collider folks, may I ask what was the reason The Dark Knight or any other DC movies were not mentioned? Did the panel simply forget Christopher Nolan's TDK trilogy? Thanks, love you guys. :D
Round 2 should have used the white boards like in Round 3, having everyone write down what they most want cut from the list at the same time. That's a lot more fair than going in order around the table because the people going last will most likely not get a chance to nominate a pick to cut. It's a lot different choosing what to cut yourself and choosing whether or not to cut a film someone else nominates.
ColliderVideos I thought this was pretty great- I was def. entertained- this was also my dream movie crew today with stuckman added! Thanks for the fun stuff!
Here after that Collider Jan 2, 2020 announcement. 🙄🙄 The good times. After Mark Fernandez bought Collider it just went steadily downhill. Congratz Mark!!
My Top 5: 2014- 1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Captain America: Civil War 3. Captain American: Winter Soldier 4. Doctor Strange 5. X-men: Days of Future Past

Hope Stuckmann is a regular guest. Hell make him apart of the show. Harloff, Jahns, and Stuckmann are my favorite movie critics and having them all on the same show together is awesome!
1. Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice 2. X-Men Days of Future Past 3. Captain America - The Winter Soldier 4. Guardians Of The Galaxy 5. X-Men Apocalypse
Good to see Chris Stuckmann on Collider, you guys keep on adding more and more of the UA-camrs I love to these videos, keep going at this rate and Collider will be the undisputed titan of entertainment media related channels here on UA-cam. This video was awesome, hope you do stuff like this more regularly, once a month at least, you guys at Collider are killing it these days, still my all time favourite YT channel to date.
2014 was a real shot in the arm for Superhero movies. Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 were ok sequels after the Avengers, but people weren't sure if the MCU could stay strong. But then the one - two punch of Winter Soldier and GOTG totally solidified the idea that Marvel could do no wrong. Also, the Nolan trilogy was over, X-Men were in a bit of a confusing spot. Then DOFP brings the X-Men back into full steam, and the MCU becomes more than an experiment, but a real freight train. DC was M.I.A., but with Marvel proving it's staying power, everyone became extra impatient for the DC version (and we're still waiting). But ya. I would say the most important years for the modern SuperHero genre were: 2000 - 2004 : Couldn't pin it to one year. Mostly X-Men 1 & 2, and Spider-man 1 & 2. Two successful superhero franchises, with sequels that surpassed the original. X-Men and Spider-man managed to kick-start superhero movies, in spite of all the other band-wagoners flooding the market with garbage - I'm talking Daredevil, Ang Lee's Hulk, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Catwoman, Punisher, and Blade Trinity. Blade (1998) gets an honorable mention for helping get the ball rolling, but without X-men, Blade wouldn't have done much. 2008 : After the quick birth and saturation of the modern superhero movie, 2005 - 2007 were dark times for the seemingly booming genre. With one exception (Batman Begins) those 3 years were nearly the downfall of Superhero movies. Elektra, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Superman Returns, F4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. 2004's Hellboy inspired some cult comic films that were underwhelming - Constantine, V for Vendetta, and another crappy Crow sequel. Even kids movies were trying their hand, but failing with Sky High, Zoom, and Underdog. And the biggest blow came in the form of X-men The Last Stand, and Spider-Man 3. The 2 giants that were keeping the boom alive, just got kneecapped. Fortunately, since they were riding on the coat-tails of their last installments, they still made a lot of money, and so Hollywood was still willing to press forward. Enter Marvel Studios and Iron Man. At first, people weren't so optimistic. Iron Man was mostly a little known character, and in the comics, Tony Stark wasn't very interesting. But Marvel cast RDJ and created a very interesting and entertaining version of Tony Stark. Combined with the fact that it wasn't as "super-hero-esque" as other movies. There were no superpowers or magic or silly outfits. It was the perfect movie at the perfect time. Then, Chris Nolan clinches up the re-energizing of the genre with The Dark Knight. Showing a Superhero Movie that was dark, and gritty... and yet true to the essence of the characters. Like Iron Man, it was grounded, and different, and just a really good movie. TDK and Iron Man allowed people to take the genre seriously again. And the fact that Incredible Hulk was good helped. Hancock was disappointing but ok and hyped at the peak of Will Smith fever. And even Hellboy 2 was lauded as worth seeing for it's visuals alone. This stretch was maintained by the curiosity of the MCU experiment, and the Nolan trilogy reigniting Batman's icon status. Until it peaked in 2012 with Avengers and TDKRises. After that, we were left wondering, where does it go from here? There was some hope in Superman getting his own "Nolan trilogy"... but that turned out to be a fake out as Nolan was a producer on paper only, and instead it was the beginning of the dreaded Snyder-verse. Marvel Phase 2 was intriguing, but still, experimental and uncertain. 2014 : Winter Soldier, GOTG, and DOFP solidify the superhero genre, and settle the uncertainty. Making movies of crazy characters like Dr Strange, Deadpool and Suicide Squad possible, and also sending DC into full panic mode since they were still sitting on their hands. It was, after it was in the fall of 2014, that DC made their big movie slate announcement several months after the superhero summer of 2014. Hopefully the MCU can stay the ship while WB and Fox scramble to figure out where to go from here.
Let's be honest the best superhero movies between 2014-2016. Is a movie that has changed the way we watch movies and the way we think... Of course I'm talking about, Fan4stic
My Top 5: 1. Captain America: Civil War 2. X-Men: Days of Future Past 3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 4. Guardians of the Galaxy 5. Doctor Strange
1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2. CA: The Winter Soldier 3. CA: Civil War 4. Deadpool 5. Kingsmen: The Secret Service Oh and Jay Jay wants to remind everyone that they need to say... 'in my opinion' whenever they give one. Just warning you guys! =D
1. Captain America civil war 2. Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Days of future past 4. Deadpool 5. The winter solider Massive DC fan but have so much respect for marvel and I love some of their films. I hope next year I can make a list where DC is on top but will have to wait and see. Justice league may surprise us or it might look good and just be average
Top 5 Comic Movies from 2014-2016: 1. Days of Future Past 9.5/10 2. Winter Soldier 9/10 3. Civil War 9/10 4. Guardians of the Galaxy 8.5/10 5. Dr Strange 8/10
TheoKabala89 love your list but I'd say: 1- Man of Steel 2- The Dark Knight 3- Iron-man 4- BvS: ultimate 5- Ant-Man and Winter Soldier for me are tied. after that, but not in any order: Guardians of The Galaxy, Watchmen, Batman 89, Thor, Avengers, Batman Begins, Cap1, Civil War, Deadpool, X-2, Superman the movie, Superman 2, DoFP.
ravissary79 The list is for 2014-16, if it wasn't my list would be: 1. TDK 2. MoS 3. Watchmen 4. The Winter Soldier 5. Spiderman 2 or X-2 or Iron Man or Batman Begins
My personal list 1. Man of Steel (I'm aware it came out in 2013 but I love it enough to bend the rules a bit and it's my list damn it!) 2. Winter Soldier 3. Civil War 4. Batman v Superman 5. Deadpool
Best movie Comic Book Movie between 2014 and 2016 is, without hesitation, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In these three years, I have never seen a comic book movie with more depth, more emotion, and more rewatchability than Batman v Superman. Not to mention one with a few positive messages, as well as an amazingly terrifying villain in Lex Luthor. No. Jesse Eisenberg wasn't the best guy to play him, but it was his motivations and his plan to kill Superman not only in body, but in spirit, that I found absolutely fascinating. The movie is absolutely beautiful, in terms of story. It is absolutely the best comic book movie of twenty sixteen, and of these three year, and I have yet to find anyone who can convince me otherwise.
Winter Naomi Vera You've just saved me 5 minutes of writing the same thing. I agree with you all the way. I own the movie digitally, DVD and Bluray and I watch every chance I get. I am a major batman and DC fanatic and I know many other people who are in the same boat hate this movie but I'm not one of them. The reason why nonsweaty people don't like it is because they don't fully understand the movies plot and all the little stuff about it and I was one of those people until I watched the ultimate edition and everything clicked for me and I just fell in love with it. The reason why sweaty people don't like it is because they compare it to the source material and what they need to understand is this another universe and different mythos so you have to look at this as almost an alternate earth. Batman fans are upset because of the fact that Batman kills but that's cause he's finally gone over the edge but him understanding superman and then his death will hopefully put him back on track and open his eyes. Sorry for the long ramble. If anyone reading this wants a better explanation there's a video somewhere that John Campea made explaining everyone's gripes.
Batman v Superman Exactly. As a matter of fact, I see DC Films (Suicide Squad too, before it was ruined by Tsujihara and Trailer Park) doing with comic book movies, what The Walking Dead and the Marvel Netflix shows (and now The Tick) which is staying true to the spirit of source material while, at the same time, providing their own take on it, and adjusting to continuity revisions in their own respective universes. Batman meets Superman before a Death in the Family in the comics and, while he still killed the Joker, Superman was there to keep him level, while in Batman v Superman, A Death in the Family occurs years earlier, he never meets Tim Drake, and Superman is partially responsible for the death of thousands, as well as first known contact with extraterrestrial life in the universe. It stands to reason that Batman would lose his bearings and gradually forget his One Rule after being personal witness to the deaths of thousands. I'm a devoted comic book fan as well, and I has no issue with, really, any liberties Snyder took (Although I wish Doomsday could have been handled better.) It makes my seeing these heroes, as I know and love them, all the more rewarding. Because I know what they went through to become, or once again become, those heroes. It makes me even more excited for Justice League and Superman's return. I can't wait to see him talk people back from ledges, because he found his way back from his own. :,)
1 I was tripping balls watching Doctor Strange 2 Civil War was intense 3 Guardians was a joy ride through the 80's in space 4 The Winter Soldier is like whoa did he just kick that guy into the engine? 5 Age of Ultron pure epicness and would be #1 if it weren't for all these other badass movies.
Lord Moriarty007 Like a Top 10 show. You could pick a different theme every week, based on an upcoming movie release. Think there are too many hosts here though, would be better with just 2 or 3. Rocha and Knost would be perfect.
Collider Videos, this is why you should bring back the Top 10 Show! I liked their format better than what was done here as it doesn't fit Movie Talk! #MakeColliderGreatAgain #BringBackTop10 #OutlawNation
Nice change of pace with this episode guys. I like the Line-up of Judges chosen, although Ellis and his comedic chopps were sorely missed i thought Kenny did an exceptional job in his absence. You should definitely do more episodes like this, plus Kristian's idea of Top Worst ComicBook Movies list would actually be a perfect addon to the show like a "TOP BEST" followed by "TOP WORST" or vice versa or however you can make it work!? idk just putting it out there in the universe...stay golden.
this was a super fun episode. loved the ranking discussion. 1.Winter Soldier 2.Civil War (don't care if you swap 1&2 3.Deadpool 4.DOFP 5.Guardians of the Galaxy
2014 until present. 1.Guardians of the Galaxy. 2.Captain America: Winter Soldier. 3.Captain America: Civil War. 4.Kingsmen the Secret Service. "Oxfords, not Brogues." 5.Antman. All Time 1.The Dark Knight. 2.Spider-man 2 (Sam Raimi, Toby McGuire, Kirsten Dunst.) 3.Captain America Winter Soldier. 4.Superman 2 (Christopher Reeves) 5.Guardians of the Galaxy.
So you did a Top 5 show. I think that's a great idea. In fact you should extend it to a Top 10 show. Rocha and Knost are two guys I've seen hanging around the place who deserve their own show so maybe they could host it?
You know this show was so entertaining probably bc it was a flashback to best ranking show and best show on Collider---Top 10 Show! John and Knost would be so entertaining in this show and it would've been a good callback! Also, HOW could you have a debate on the best comic book movies without the Godfather of Comic Book Knowledge himself--"Big" John Schnepp! #BringBackTop10
Can speak for yourself if YOU thought it was the best show. But maybe a lot of Collider fans weren't too fond of it and the viewer numbers probably reflected that. Just a thought.
5) Guardians of the Galaxy 4) Kingsman: The Secret Service 3) Deadpool 2) Captain America: Civil War 1) Captain America: The Winter Soldier Winter Soldier takes the list and is in my top 5 comic book movies of all time!

1. Captain America: Winter Soldier 2. Deadpool 3. Kingsman 4. Guardians of the Galaxy 5. X-Men Days of Future Past 2014 is honestly the BEST year in comic book movies, every movie that year (except for Amazing Spider-Man 2) was a knock out of the park
there already was a top x style of show that I feel did it better. while I appreciate all you do, Knost and Rocha did that show better. if you're going to do a top movie debate show, give it back to them.
This is my Top 5 Comic Book Films: 1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 2. X-Men: Days of Future Past 3. Guardians of the Galaxy 4. Deadpool 5. Doctor Strange

Hello, Collider folks, may I ask what was the reason The Dark Knight or any other DC movies were not mentioned?
Did the panel simply forget Christopher Nolan's TDK trilogy?

Captain Rodgers It was 2014-2016 movies only.

Winter Naomi Vera BvS? Ahahahahhahaha It was good but not Number 1!!! Lmao
1 I was tripping balls watching Doctor Strange
2 Civil War was intense
3 Guardians was a joy ride through the 80's in space
4 The Winter Soldier is like whoa did he just kick that guy into the engine?
5 Age of Ultron pure epicness and would be #1 if it weren't for all these other badass movies.
Age of Ultron was ridiculous.
Age of Ultron is epic. Hulk vs Hulkbuster is awe and James Spader is the perfect Ultron.
strange is the new strange
+tito22212 well watching grown men in tights is pretty ridiculous
Top 6
The Dark Knight
Joker
Logan
The Dark Knight Rises
Batman Begins
Captain America Civil War
Excellent list. The Trilogy and Logan are in my top 6. 👍
I loved this segment. You guys need to do it again. Or just make an another show with the same concept. Thanks for the fun and bring on the filthy.
Lord Moriarty007 Like a Top 10 show. You could pick a different theme every week, based on an upcoming movie release. Think there are too many hosts here though, would be better with just 2 or 3. Rocha and Knost would be perfect.
"...Out of the Shadows..." - Ken with the unnoticed laugh out loud moment of the show!
Jeremy Jahns and Chris Stuckmann are in the same room... my life is complete
5.) Guardians of The Galaxy
4.) X-Men Days of Future Past
3.) Deadpool
2.) Captain America The Winter Soldier
1.) Captain America Civil War
For me it's
1. Civil War
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
3. Winter Soldier
4. Ant-Man
5. Big Hero 6
X-Men: Apocalypse was the most underrated superhero movie of the past few years.
Lol!!!
We need a Stuckmann vs Jahns Schmoedown!
Collider Videos, this is why you should bring back the Top 10 Show! I liked their format better than what was done here as it doesn't fit Movie Talk!
#MakeColliderGreatAgain #BringBackTop10 #OutlawNation
This dude Stuckmann has very good movie reviews on his channel. I just found out about him a few weeks ago but now a big fan.

Just a thought.

there already was a top x style of show that I feel did it better. while I appreciate all you do, Knost and Rocha did that show better. if you're going to do a top movie debate show, give it back to them.
