    I harvest my Bok Choy the same way, and I get an harvest about once every 2 weeks. I am in Massachusetts so similar climate to where you are. Last year, my Bok choy went to seeds in July. I planted some of those seeds in May and will again in the Fall.

    I water in the early morning before I harvest so that the leaves are nicely pumped full of water. I let the soil dry out a bit before harvesting and I don't water immediately after harvesting. I'm worried about the splashing Bacteria/Fungi from the soil onto the fresh cuts on the plant. So I avoid watering the injured plants until the next day, to give them some dry time to heal up. I don't think the plants need so much water after you remove the leaves anyway because they lose most of their water from the leaves.

    I grow bok choy in long narrow containers in my 4 x 4 basement grow tents where I grow other..... vegetables. Found that they do best on the outside edges where they are not as exposed to the intense overhead lighting. Towards the center they tend to bolt quickly, even though the temperatures just range from 62-72 F.

      you're probably using very powerful LED's for your other "veggies". that would be my guess for the quick bolting. i'm only using about 60 watts worth for my tent

    Where do you live to have cold climate? I live north of Denver. The weather can be strange cold/hot especially during the summer up to 100F degrees plus July - August.

    Hello. Great video. Extremely informative. Never heard about bolting so I am grateful for the clarification. Do I need to dry out the seeds first or just sow them fresh come October or May?

    • @Greentgarden
      @Greentgarden  6 днів тому

      No need to dry out the seed. The seed actually germinates very fast outdoors..
      They grow best between 60 to 68 degrees..
      Normally over 70° when it's hot it will Bolt the plant

    • @natalialouis3095
      @natalialouis3095 6 днів тому

      @@Greentgarden yes. That's exactly what happened to me. I planted too late in my region because my 8 plants bolted immediately. It is already over 70° where I live. I will leave the flowers and plant them out later in the year when it's cooler.

    When will Pepper be ripe for harvesting?

    • @Greentgarden
      @Greentgarden  4 місяці тому

      Depends on the type of peppers. Some of them take a long time to ripen ( basically change colors) You could always Harvest pepper even when they're green.... What type of peppers are you growing ?

    I’m in Oregon and the weather has been very strange this year. I just found this video because I couldn’t believe my pak Choi was bolting already, but I guess it is cause I have flower buds 😢 i haven’t even harvested from it yet. It went straight from seedling to flowers. I think it’s partly the weather and partly stress. I had a big slug problem at first. Just got that under control and then it went from 65 degrees to 80 over night. Then today and yesterday it’s been cloudy and when the sun is behind the clouds it’s about 68 and when it peaks out it’s burning at like 85. Then hides again and it’s cold. It’s really weird. The temperature shift so extreme like that seems unnatural.
    But at least I was able to come straight here and get an answer to my question. Thank you green t 💜

      @Greentgarden  11 місяців тому +1

      I am sorry , but Glad I was able to answer earlier questions with my video .. I love bok choy. It's so healthy and delicious but it's such a temperamental plant with heavy wind. Weird weather. Hot weather. Not watering on time. It all triggers these plants to bolt so fast.. I normally plant early in the summer and early in the fall so I get the best out of it...

      So it could be the watering is off.. ( too much or not enough water) the other thing could be the weather is too hot.. .. if it started to grow taller , that means bolted ( end of the plant) .. try to stick to a Water schedule ... Water ever 2-3 days ...
