Not so much. The thing as is as smart phone cameras get better, designated cameras get even that much better. Plus, the process of making photos with a camera will be hard to beat. But the best camera is the one you have with you.. right?
I definitely am! I have been considering buying a travel camera, but if I can get this type of quality from a phone? I'm sold! I hope someone does a side-by-side comparison from the other top tier phones. Especially with the Hasselblad lens, omg, I don't think these American phones can compete for a long while.
Wow! Ive been shooting professionally for almost 20 years and I do like and use my iPhone sometimes but these photos are on another level IMO. I would never be able to tell these came from a PHONE if I didnt know. Aside from the Xperia 1 series, this is the only smartphone Ive seen that I feel could easily replace my iPhone for mobile photography. This looks even better than the Xperia photos IMO. Really love the look of that telephoto lens as I mainly shoot portraits. Great shots, thanks.
An interesting video Evan and the phone looks fantastic, especially that telephoto lens. About a year ago, I got hold of as many RAW files from various phones as I could. After spending a lot of time editing and comparing them, I decided that my current phones RAW files beat them all, and I didn't change phones. I've had my Huawei P30 Pro for 4 years now and I am reluctant to give it up. The RAW files do require a bit of work to get them right, and they are large too, but I just love how they look. The main sensor is 40mp and 1/1.7 in size and it outputs a RAW file of between 70mb and 80mb. I am able to shoot in RAW with any of the 3 lenses, the 27mm 40mp, the 20mp 16mm ultra wide or the 8mp 125mm telephoto. The telephoto is superb but I do wish the sensor was larger and the megapixel count a little higher. The Oppo looks great, and I'll need to get some RAW files for testing, but for now, I'm still not convinced it's time for me to change.
Reminds me of my old Nokia 1020, had same manual controls…. Best Camera on any phone i ever had… could shoot raw to.. had that same big hump on the back like this new oppo…
I wish all manufacturers would utilize a circular lens array with a bump. First this would make the camera more stable when laid flat in a surface. Second mobile photography could really rival trqditional photography if manufacturers made the bump threaded or/and magnetic for use with filters.
Hi mate. From Australia 🇦🇺 Would love to see what size the Oppo Find N3 prints to. No one on the internet, that i know of, has printed an image from a phone and displayed it. Would be great to see a few printed images, would you be willing to do a video on that. Thanks.
Man I only just discovered oppo after buying a second hand x5 off someone, these things are incredible! The N3 looks absolutely ridiculous (in a good way). Might become the next oppo!
While I don't think anything can touch the Xiaomi 13 Pro's Leica 1" sensor f/1.9 beast of a main camera the accuracy of the masking in that portrait mode is just remarkably uncanny and the first of its kind I couldn't tell apart from actual shallow DOF without pixel peeping. Can you imagine what cinematic video modes for high end phones will be like in a few years when processing and software is able to apply that accuracy and beyond on the fly. Shout out to the next generation of backyard filmmakers.
What exactly are you talking about? I use the Xiaomi 13 Pro and I sold it because it does not adjust to the light and its colors are not what the Oppo and OnePlus are at a completely different level. Oh, I forgot that the Xiaomi 14 Pro was launched today and its camera is weak.
what a brilliant review! I believe that you can achieve such result with any flagship phone using manual settings while shooting in raw. I d love to see a comparison of some phones in this way
I would love to try out the OPPO Find N3! The camera capabilities sounds awesome. I've been using Google Pixel phones ever since 2017, but the features in this camera (and being Hasselblad) look amazing!
Its great and refreshing to see a real photographer reviewing and offering professional analysis rather then the dozens of rubbish coming from self acclaimed experts out there, taking picture of their house objects, car interior and pets sprouting their buulshit reviews....the likes of Flossy Carter at al.
Bro the amount of punch you put in those colors always amazes me. I always just assume it's cause of your fuji cameras (as a form of making my self feel better lolol) but gettting those sexy ass colors out of an android phone?? Street Photography GOAT
Another awesome video Evan! You are maybe the only youtuber that actually showcases what you can do with a smartphone camera and your results are honestly sometimes mindboggling. I really wonder if this camera is performing exactly the same in the new OnePlus Open as they both have the exact same cameras. I live in Germany and I dont know if the Oppo will get a global launch so if you are able to, I`d love to see a review of the Open compared to the N3.
I'd love to know what you think of this compared with the Xiaomi range. I was dead set on changing to Vodafone in order to get it (in the UK) but after seeing this I'm not sure now.
Easy to understand that the photography is good, but is it being judged as a pocket camera or as a mobile device? If it's a mobile device what about the rest of it. How's the phone call quality, the OS, app support. Would be great to know about those things too. That helps to determine if this is the pocket camera beside my mobile phone or actually my mobile phone.
This phone uses the new Sony sensor with double the light capture. It's also in the Sony Xperia 5v. Btw you should try Sony Xperia phones for the very best in smartphone cameras.
Great review! 😉 I know this is a Chinese model but can you tell me if Netflix and Disney+ content view in Dolby vision? Thanks! Keep up the great work 😊
you edited the pictures seen in the video? bcs they look very punchy and kind of saturated and high cotrast... also i want to ask how good video smoothing and denoising is?
7:21 The Experia Pro i has pro features, so this phone isn't "the closest any phone has come to mimicking a pro style camera" this phone I believe doesn't have a variable aperture like the Sony. However I am looking at getting a second phone and this one looks promising.
Man what a time we live in! Crazy sht lol😂 Pocket 3 just came out and now I’m considering to sell my iPhone 14p and save the money to buy pocket 3 to get this instead.
So my question is how is it as a phone? I tried to use my iPhone at the light show in Anakeesta in Gatlinburg earlier this week and I’m not sure how much of the bad photos were me or my phone
As always it’s half and half but when I applied what I know about photography to this phone I was extremely impressed by what I could do. Obviously I had some bad shot too haha but the winners stood out!
Loved this video! Such a refreshing change...coming from a real photographer that you are. 👏🏼 Would the new OnePlus Open have the same camera capability as this Oppo? They're supposedly the same exact phone. Any thoughts or experience with the OP Open?
@@MegaAbzzzzz Thanks! That's what I figured. I currently have the OP Open and it's literally has the best camera on any smartphone I've ever used, in my humble opinion.

Thanks for reading my blog 😅

Have you used any Sony or Samsung phones for mobile photography. You said the Oppo is the best You've used so I'm curious to know what experiences you are comparing it to?
I assume it is camera wise more or less identical to the OnePlus open, which makes me wonder: Why did they ask you to promote the "Chinese" market phone over the international one.
The problem with this phone for me and that trashes the set of great cameras that it has, is that the "48"MP ultra-wide, JPEG or RAW, is only an upscaled 12MP and looks like garbage. All the other cameras can output their native pixel count but on the ultra-wide it gets downsampled to 12MP and gets te-upsampled to output a 48MP. This makes absolutely no sense.
Impressive, ok. But for 1800€ you can buy a Fuji xs20 that is 200 times better. There is NOT phone, right now, that can even come close to any apsc camera.
How about you test out the leica L1. Id love to see what kind of bs you come up with for that one while you show us mediocore photos. Stop with the vinegetting and hard contrast in your edits it looks my first edits when i started photography and thats not a good thing.
Are you excited for the future of mobile photography? Thanks for watching!
