So beautiful. I have been canoeing in Algonquin Park for over 50 years. I have taken this trip several times and really enjoyed it. I am afraid my health now makes it too hard to do anymore but your video brings back many fond memories. Thanks so much.
Beautiful work! My wife and I have been canoe tripping in Algonquin for 10 years and she's pregnant with our first child this summer, so we're not sure how often we'll get out this year. Your videos really capture the feel of the park and being on a trip. Thank you for sharing :)
I found your channel through Joe Robinet and what a great recommendation that was! Your videos capture the peacefulness of nature, and of yourselves, perfectly. I love that you aren’t afraid of silence. And even when you’re speaking you have such a calm demeanor that it fits perfectly with your surroundings. I’d recommend your channel to anyone with high blood pressure! So calming. Thank you.
This video perfectly captures the sweet melancholy of leaving the park. One part of you is sad to leave behind the serenity and adventure. The other part is exhausted and ready for fresh food and the comfort of your bed. Love your content. Please keep it up.
There is something that cleans my soul when I am out in an area with out the crowds we find in town. Paddling is one way I have been able to find such places. When I find the "best 10 places" I cross them off my list. I do enjoy your videos. Looking forward to videos with the newest member of the family. I took my daughter backpacking into the Olympic National Park when she was 6 weeks old. That was 44 years ago .
So true - being out there is so incredibly therapeutic. Thanks for watching Robert! Glad to hear you had your daughter out when she was 6 weeks old. Hope to have some adventures with Cedar up soon! :)
Another pleasing video to watch. Seeing you two work as a team all the time is such a great thing. Julia, what a beautiful thing to see you do these things while pregnant. I know Cedar will grow up a knowing how to respect people. Thank you ladies for doing the right things! I am able to live your adventures with you. Thank you! Sorry this is getting so long. Keep doing what you do!
THAT is the word I'm looking for. Pleasant. Should be in the dictionary. Pleasant: see videos with Chris and Julia on UA-cam. Also reference under, Quality, Perfection, Peaceful and Love. Oh and Cinematogrophy....THIS is how it's done. :-)
@@ChrisProuse theres so much I love... the scenery, music.. how you cope with not so great weather.. coffee.. laughter, s'mores.. most of all the two of you and how you enjoy life.. that truly is one of my high for today... :)
Excellent video series! I do a bit of video work myself, so I have a sense as to how much effort it takes to constantly setup the gear to get all the shots. You're a fantastic cinematographer and I look forward to your future video series!
I love raining which bring me the peace I enjoy after a long day. I guess that explain why I love nature in the first place, to connect back to our planet. :)
Thanks Chris and Julia for another epic video series. My friend and I just got back this week from Algonquin. We did the same route you did in your classic canoe trip series. The campsite on McIntosh lake was our favorite. The site on Big Trout lake was also amazing! Ran into a father and son duo tripping also during a portage and we chatted about your channel and Joes. You're all household names now in the Ontario backcountry camping community haha. Can't wait for your next series. Keep it up!
Thanks for letting us come along with you on your trip. Just love the warm and cozy feeling of your videos (even in the rain 😉😊) // best regards from Sweden
A fitting end to your trip. Ragged Lake (Parkside Bay) was the last lake that Frank Kuiack, the last "official" guide of Algonquin Park took a writer named Ron Corbett to and then you paddled down Smoke Lake where the last female guide, Esther Keyser, used to live in her cottage on the lake.
That awesome ladies! I just got home from solo trippin in that section of the park to find a video of the same area. Love to meet up and say high some time. I've been going there since the 80s. My last night was on your day one spot. Bald eagle was perched in the tree on the point. Amazing! Crazy weather swings this week. The wind on Smoke Lake yesterday morning made for a dramatic finish. Surfin in C A :-) A crew heading oot, changed their mind after watching me. Looking forward to more of your videos. I was taking mostly stills, got some great shots. All the best!
I love your videos, especially the camping ones. My next real vacation I’m heading to Algonquin. :-) Thanks for all you do and I hope the baby doesn’t keep you up too often.
Always the best videos and so relaxing to watch. Soon, winter there and snowy treehouses camping again? I love watching them too and the fun you have exploring the winter wonderland..
@@ChrisProuse This is seriously the first notification that i have gotten from your channel in a while. It's just nice to see that you are both happy and having an awesome time. :)
Yep, this was filmed with a Panasonic G9 on a PilotFly Adventurer gimbal, and I added some stabilization in post along with some additional rotational keyframing to keep the horizon level :)
Ladies, a new subscriber from the states who absolutely love your adventures. If I could make a suggestion and maybe there’s a reason you don’t? But as I follow along your adventures I’m not always sure where you are? Is it possible to video the portage marker, P635 to Lake Club or wherever and when your on the a particular lake just denote the lake or river your on? I know you flash a map on the screen ....that just denotes overall distance traveled for the day but doesn’t help the viewer .....canoe or portage the trail with you by identifying where exactly you are. I would love to make my first canoe trip to the park this summer and I think watching and seeing exactly where you are on the trail will help me better the process of moving about the lake as I study the map and your locations within the park. It’s just a thought if that’s possible. I never tire of the beautiful views in that Park. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Hey Chris would I be right in assuming your folks originated in Scotland as you say "Nooks and Crannies" both old term Scottish words seldom heard in now-a-days terminology but refreshing to hear coming from Canada where a lot of Scots emigrated to? Cheers Girls.
Great Video, again! At what time of the year has it been made? We would love to spend part of our Honeymoon next year at Algonquin park but we are not yet sure when would be the best time? Anne and Dennis from Germany
Hi Colin, yep (more or less) - most of the series was filmed with a 12-60mm lens, which on a m43 mount is a 24mm full-frame equivalent at the wide end. The letterbox gives me more control over framing / directing the audience’s eye, and I can also add more key-framed rotation to hold the horizon level while using less scaled-crop in 2.35:1 than in 16:9 :)

I was just thinking how there's be a 3rd little smile on the trip map someday!
Julia seems to savour every moment while out in the woods, whether it’s coffee, food or the views. Beautiful footage, thanks you two!
Came here from the video with Joe today, I like this. It's like VR camping, really well put together. Good vibes.
