    What a cutie! :P. Hi Helen, I'm a new subscriber! This dish looks really good! I want to try to make it but first I want to try your other recipes - especially bun bo hue! :). And yes I just ordered your cookbook literally 5 minutes ago. It'll come in 2 days (I hope) - don't let me down Amazon Prime! Quick question, there's this one dish my parents used to make, it is squid stuffed with clear vermicelli, pork and this brown weird looking mushroom. Do you know if that's a vietnamese or chinese dish?

    Hi chi. Just made this but the soup is not sweet at all. I cooked it 45 mins to 1 hour. Still not sweet. I had to add salt and sugar. Is it the mushrooms and fried shrimp? How long did you keep the dried shrimp in hot water? Did you use dried shitaki mushroom or fresh?

    • @HelenRecipes
      @HelenRecipes  7 років тому

      I used dried shiitake. Simmering the dried shrimps with the bones for 1-2 hours is recommended for a flavorful broth

      lol you've clearly never been to a 3rd world country

    • @beautenaturelle9989
      @beautenaturelle9989 9 років тому +2

      Lol, whether I have been to a 3rd world country or not is irrelevant. In a globalized world like ours, 3rd world countries cannot afford to ignore food safety issues. 3rd world countries import a lot of food to other countries’ which have higher standards for their food.
      It is obvious she is using her influence as a means to help this company in its endeavors to market their product(s) intra or internationally or both.
      Therefore, it is important for 3rd world countries to upgrade their food safety systems in hopes like this company to expand its business.
      I did not make the remark to insult, but merely to bring attention to the you tuber if it is their plan to help business who want to expand beyond their region c encourage food safety. With all the food issues that have been in the news lately it would make sense to want to eat or purchase from a company who is taking safe food handling precautions. Maybe you do not care but there are people who do. The video was beautiful, however, beautiful or not there are things people are concerned about, lol I guess you watch movies without reflecting on things like this. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

    • @DannyNQH
      @DannyNQH 9 років тому +7

      This is a small home operation that probably sells their noodle locally. I'm pretty sure there are higher standards if they were to import it to other countries.

      +Beaute' Naturelle like Danny said, these are small family operations, you can find these in various parts of town, and they always deliver fresh product, and usually only make their product enough for the day, and mainly for the surrounding community. Of course, they are not regulated as strictly as larger operations that export food internationally. I find these kind of operations everywhere in the world, not just third world countries
