I moved to Dallas in 1986, two years after graduating from college in Connecticut. I love Dallas (actually Collin County). It’s a white collar city with no heavy industry.
The no zoning is what’s killing Houston aesthetically I like the ppl in Houston they are very defensive of their city . Dallas is overall a much prettier town both have their pros and cons
I’ve been living in Dallas for about 13 years. Austin is the most expensive while San Antonio is the cheapest. Dallas is right behind Austin and Houston sits right above San Antonio. I’m not sure why it’s like that. I wondering if Houston is cheaper because of the flooding vs Dallas. I also don’t understand why Austin is more expensive. I get there is the Hill Country, but San Antonio is close to that as well.
To put it all into prospective I’ll say Dallas for careers && A peaceful lifestyle And Houston for just abt everything else Culture, food,Entertainment,Major events such as concerts, car shows, parades,Plus we’re way more diverse so it seems like every ethnic group bring their own set of cultures here Along w/ the parades frm their native countries,So it’s good to experience tht first hand,We have a saying tht you can tour all across the globe w/o evr leaving Houston I mean we have it all from Caribbeans, Cubans, Brazilians,Argentinians, Hondorians, Venezuelans, Dominicans,Colombians, Panamanians, Puerto Ricans && Haitians to Asians,Italians,Indians,Africans,Jamaicans, Ethiopians,Iranians,Filipinos etc w/ Every cuisine to accompany each ethnic group aforementioned, in addition to Houston being A coastal city 50 miles from the gulf we also have access to freshwater seafood And cruiselines in both Galveston bay && kemah such as the Boardwalk FantaSea Yacht, Carnival Cruise Lines. Royal Caribbean International, Disney Cruise Lines,And people often talk abt how murky Galveston water is but unbeknownst to them there are times of the year when the waters are blue depending on the climate change And it’s often either bcuz of Wind shifts, Calm winds or Bioluminescence,And people frequently compare Galveston beaches to Floridas more specifically south beach Yea Yea🥱Surely during the day Miami Beach is much bluer But at night the tables turn drastically Giving Galveston A major Edge tht Miami just can’t compete w/🤷🏽♂️in the form of pleasure pier it’s like having awhole skyline of its own sitting directly on the beachfront 🌊 And can’t forget abt the many lagoons in and around the Houston area lago mars And the blue lagoon an hr drive away in Huntsville And one also under development by 2025 HTX surf and will be a surfers paradise and the only one of it’s kind attracting surfers from all across the world,Specking of which Does Dallas have anything thts the only one of its kind? I mean like landmarks tht could only be found in Dallas tht 95% of other u.s. cities dnt have Cuz I know in Houston some of our landmarks consist of The Gerald d. Hines waterwall,NASA,Post HTX, Mount Rush-Hour aside frm the one in Washington,The San Jacinto monument which is the second tallest in the u.s. only to the Gateway Arch in Missouri,And other then Chicago the Houston bean ours stands up while the one in Chicago lays dwn,So again are there absolutely anything in Dallas thts either distinct to Dallas or tht could only be found in very few cities anything at all just give me “ONE”If it ain’t nothing but a wall with the word Tripe “D” engraved on it tht will do🤣
First off six flags over Tx is in Arlington and not Dallas but if we’re going to take credit for theme parks within the metro rather the city itself Houston has pleasure pier && Kemah Boardwalk which is only distinct to the greater Houston area Cuz almost every major city has a six flags San Antonio fiesta Texas, Atlanta,Chicago etc so it’s nothing special,And your the first person I’ve actually heard say Dallas has a better fine dining bcuz between locals, visitors And tourists tht has visited both Houston && Dallas they all have said Houston food scene in general is way better And tht includes fine dining plus we’re way more diverse then Dallas overall offering cuisines from Cajun,Caribbean,Jamaican,Venezuelan,Cuban,Asian, samoan,Italian,Russian, Vietnamese,Persian And Hawaiian restaurants 🌺 so you see Houston isn’t just known for Tex mex or bbq we’re known for our variety!
You couldn’t be more wrong, Houston is the most diverse city in Texas in terms of population and food as well, now about fine dining, you can’t really compare, Houston has 6 Michellin stars and Dallas only has one, not even close

I grew up in the Austin burbs. Big businesses have migrated there (Tesla) that bring high income jobs. At that point prices only have one way to go
