  • The life of the Brothers of the Society of St. Pius X is sadly not well-known.
The U.S. District of the Society of St. Pius X has thus produced a short video to help inform everyone of the crucial mission Archbishop Lefebvre entrusted to them. God, grant us many holy religious vocations!
    stas.org/en/community/vocation...
    - Video Transcription -
Credidimus Caritati the motto of Archbishop Lefebvre was chosen out of zeal for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. From the early days in Econe, Switzerland to growth and expansion across Africa, Asia, America, Europe, and beyond, the life blood of the Society of St. Pius X's mission has always been: the Catholic priesthood.
Each year, numerous priests join ranks in the Society's apostolic mission which aims to give souls the grace they thirst for - through the Traditional Latin Mass, the traditional sacraments, and even through the formation and education of the faithful.
Founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, the Brothers of the Society of St. Pius X work to support this apostolic mission of the priests.
The Novitiate in the United States, called the Holy Angels Novitiate, has recently taken new roots in the spiritually fertile and historically formative grounds of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary’s former campus in Winona, Minnesota.
Rooted by voluntary vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, the vocation of the Society Brother is both simplistic and sublime.
My name is Br. Benedict. I’m from Post Falls - I’ve been a Brother for seventeen years now. My religious name is Br. Simon. Br. Mark. Br Rene of Mary. My religious name is Br. Stanislaus. Br. Boniface. I’m originally from Minnesota. My name is Br. Marcel, I was born in South Africa, and I’ve been a Brother 25 years.
Very few of our priories have Brothers. Most people don’t know what a Brother is. And they look at our life as something surprising, shocking, maybe austere, and we’re none of that. We’re normal men.
We have Brothers working and living in Phoenix AZ, in Dickinson TX, in Ridgefield CT, at the district house near Kansas City, Missouri - and of course at the seminary in Virginia, as well as some who work at the Novitiate in Winona.
The Brothers’ vocation, essentially as the Archbishop saw it, was a vocation to help the priest. They are dedicated to serving Our Lord in the priest, and with a very close connection to the Mass. The Brother’s habit is essentially a cassock without the tails on the sash. The Archbishop probably wanted to keep them very similar so that they would be recognized as a society member.
The Brothers of the Society would differ from other religious, first of all, in the sense that they are active so they are involved in the apostolate with the priest. They both serve the Church, they both serve God, they are consecrated to God but in a different way.
The vocation of the Brother in the Society is a devotion to Christ’s Priesthood. It is a consecration of self and dedicated to the priesthood of the Society of St. Pius X. A collaborator with the priest for the salvation of souls and to glorify God.
It could be stated, “Why didn’t you pick the Benedictines?”, “Why didn’t you pick the Carmelites?”. There’s all kinds of religious orders, but this time calls for this religious order in preservation for the Priesthood and for the Mass - and that’s what’s most attacked nowadays.
Once a postulant completes his first year, he becomes a novice, taking on the habit of the Brothers, and making an external step that reflects the internal changes that take place during the first years of formation. His habit mirrors that of the priestly cassock to show its corresponding but supporting role in the apostolate.
Two words that I would use to describe Brother’s vocation is consecration and sacrifice. Stability and joyfulness. Generous and simple. Peaceful. A challenge. Secure and fruitful. “Ora et Labora” We pray first, and then we work and our work is a prayer as well.
What it means to be a Religious is that God calls that person to a more perfect life - specifically through the vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience
Most Holy and most adorable Trinity, I give Thee thanks for all Thine innumerable benefits which have prepared me for this day on which I intend to make the gift of myself, by pronouncing the vows of religion according to the statutes of the Brothers of the Priestly Society of St. Pius X.
O Jesus, my Lord and my divine Master, may the graces of redemption acquired by Thy Sacrifice on the Cross, which is renewed daily on our altars, wipe out all my faults and negligences, so that charity may fill my soul on this day of my religious profession.
O Mary, our Mother, help me to understand the grace of this gift as a cooperation with the sufferings of the divine Priest for the salvation of my soul and of all souls.

I was introduced to the SSPX when I was studying in Spain. I attended the mass in Madrid several times before flying back to the Philippines.I attended mass twice here in Manila but due to my role as a caregiver for my brother and mother I can’t attend regularly. Keeping the society in mind and in my prayers.

Why are you protestant? I mean, I wasn't even baptized when I decided to convert myself to Christ, but I didn't consider being a protestant for a second, I was sure that the true Church was the Catholic. I just don't understand why a person would be a protestant without having been a catholic first, unless that person was born in a protestant family.

Is there a female equivalent to a brother, as in a lady who helps nuns?

    • @SSPX
      @SSPX  4 роки тому +9

The SSPX Brothers are like the SSPX Sisters who focus on supporting the priest in his apostolate and work. The SSPX Sisters help the priests directly, especially in the sacristy and in the singing of the Divine Office. Depending on the priory, the laity help the priests directly - especially whenever there aren't any SSPX Brothers or SSPX Sisters located there. Otherwise, to be an actual member of the SSPX (as opposed to just attending an SSPX Mass location or parish), one would need to be a Priest, a Brother, a Sister, or a 3rd Order Member.

I have often thought that some religious orders, societies and congregations should put more emphasis on the role of the lay brother as more of a levitical role to serve the priesthood rather than to be as the monasteries domestics. In my novitiate the lay brothers novices had a liturgical role in so far as they served at Holy Mass, High Mass and benediction in various capacities as acolytes, thurifer and master of ceremonies or MC. Once out of the novitiate and into the other houses of the congregation, which were mainly also parishes, these services were taken on by the men and boys of the parish. The lay brothers were more of less confined to domestic duties. In my six years of profession I cannot remember ever being MC at a sung or HIgh Mass.
I believe that the lay brothers of the Benedictine and Cistercian orders have a role as alter servers at High Mass and pontifical High Mass celebrate by the Abbot, but in the Carthusian Order they have no role at all as altar servers other than at Low Mass.

What would Jesus think? The OLD LATIN TRIDENTINE church (of which I was brought up in and loved)....is no longer relevant in our modern world....The Mass as it is today embraces and includes the Laity in a personal way and speaks their language in the vernacular.....The OLD RCC has opened the "windows" and let in much needed fresh air.....Your church simply glorifies the priest and sets him on a pedestal like he was someone above and beyond those he serves.....Jesus would not be impressed......that's my view....

Soon enough the last will be gone. Their lava lamps will fail. Their virtue signals fall silent. Even the smell of stale bong water will fade away. No one will take note, or care. Church mean assembly, community. In MODERN term, each community lead by LEADER, they call it Governor, Major, President, Chief, Head of Office, Head master, Dean, Rector, Director, WHATEVER; in Church we call it PRIEST. Priest is administer, shepherd who caring flocks. Does Leninist think Lenin doctrines too OLD and odd to be used in this modern day? Does Maoist revise Mao doctrines with idea NOT RELEVANT in modern era? Jesus just interest to BELIEVERS, that is the reason even He knew Peter will denying him three times and Judah Iscariot will betray him, Jesus still pick both weak men as HIS DISCIPLES. I am NOT Catholic, my father is Pentecost pastor. When i moved to Italy in late November 2011, i came to LATIN MASS in Genova as VISITOR. In 2012, i attend Sunday Mass as VISITOR. But in June 2013 someone gave me free voucher to watched Cristiada (Viva Cristo Re) film that made based on true story when Communist Mexicans banned Catholic in there and killing thousands priest, civilians. Their martyrdom changing my perception about it. I searched Mantila through Google, but nothing left in Italy. In December 2013, a good friend offer me Mantilla as Christmas gift. I accept it in 14 January 2014, i wore it until 2019. It is broken, i made it in 2020 and i wore it until today. If Modernist asked the reason i chose this community, and refuse that Modern Catholic; i answered them,"I am interest to SACRED way and THEIR SILENCE." This November it will be 10 years I attend Latin Mass in Genova, Italy and i will never change my mind with idea OLD style or not modern. I believe in Jesus who born 2000 years ago, He is NOT that kind MODERNIST, right?
