I have always thought that the ambience of the maps and other players skill sounds add to the atmosphere of the game.

My dad worked overseas for 1-2 years and only came home for 1-2 months. My two sisters, me, and my dad would hang out in our favourite computer shop and play this for hours every day until he left again for work. That was 20 years ago. I still open one of my accounts sometimes and walk around, hoping to find him in the crowd. Wherever you are, dad, I miss you, and we miss you.
I love RO, but its a "dead" game. I wish someone make a "Palworld" version of Ragnarok Online (but more focus on combat) , its necessary to revive the franchise.
@@mwss3507 Gravity already tried to create two sequels to Ragnarok but both failed. Then they made the mobile game which is highly popular (unfortunately the mobile game sucks because it play by itself)

this game was soooo AWESOME!!! Spent 2 years of my life in this (daily 6+ hours) when I was a teenager (~15-17 years) and I don't regret anything!!! Best time of my life!!!!

It's 2024 and I can still imagine my characters roaming Prontera, looking for good items, vending, forging weapons, upgrading armors, making friends & enemies in PVP rooms, boss hunting, looting even jellopies, using /gg, /heh, /sit! I can still remember opening lots of old blue box, using lots of dead branches.
How I wish I could go back in time and still play with nothing on my mind; no bills, no deadlines, no stress from work, no pressure. This game made my childhood worth remembering.

Yeap, we probably won't see anything like this anymore. Chars warping, this good ol' music, the buffs, all that and all we accomplished are now just memories. Most of the servers (non-officials) are long gone. But it was a golden time, for me and my friends, and i believe for all of those who played... I miss this time so much... But unfortunately time flies. Take care y'all over there.

Indeed. I played other online games with friends long time back, like RF Online, but the nostalgia didn't hit as hard as hearing prontera's theme. Man... RO's game music was amazing.
Back in 2003, In Philippines RO, Chaos server, sometimes there are more than 30k players online specially in War of Emperium event. You will have difficulty logging in on that server and you have no choice but to play your other characters from a different server. LOL. That is how big the community in Philippines RO back in the days. I made so much friends and memories from my guild mates. I wish I can go back in time. RO will forever be in my heart 😢

Well well well! Gone are those days! Those memories and nostalgia. This is may save port and where I cursed a lot because of refining. Made a lot of companions here. The feeling where you are excited to play this after school. BEST MMORPG ever created!

I will never forget the first time I logged into iRO in 2001. The new world, new friends, all the exploring etc. Amazing years. Some of my best memories in gaming.

but god damn this game has special place in my heart, and I always keep at least 1 ragnarok server in my PC just in case some heavy nostalgia happened.
It has been 20 years and this was the very first mmorpg that I have ever played, and I can safely say that the magic feeling of playing this game has been and will always be the best.

I was 22 when I started playing this game in 2002. Now here I sit, a 44 year old man whose youth is long gone. I'm growing old and I miss those days. My dad and childhood friend that I played iRO with passed away 2 months apart in 2015. I'm just trying to hold on and not become a statistic, but it's hard. I'm not sure if old memories like this hurt or help.

Back then, no healing npc.. you have to sit to recover h.p while watching other player farming.
Back then, some priest sell their heal for mp potion.. some just so nice to heal everybody and i remember other character will chat "+++" infront of priest to get some bless, heal, increase agility and assumptio.
Some of my friend that play this game already pass away.. i really miss those days.. no words can describe it.. i am grateful to be one of the generation that play this game at its prime

Amazing game, amazing memories, RO will always have a special place in my heart.
I never got to play this back on the day, I was too young back there to even pay for it, let alone play it, and yet, just by playing a bit on a private server last year, I was really hooked for a while on it despite going solo, I have almost no time playing this and yet, Prontera's theme feels nostalgic as hell to me!
Sad to say that I can't play this as much as I would like, life is busy as all hell, but a friend is going over seas, maybe I could get him and a couple more to try it as a way to stay in contact beyond just chats.

I loved this game, it was really really good, I used to go with my cousin to hunt valkyries, and he put the spell field to be immune to basic attacks, and I (alchemist) just droping bombs like crazy. We farmed so many valkyrie shields, and put them at a good price and left a merchant to sell everything, and we would have very good money. Only down thing is that it took HOURS to get the ingredients for the bombs. I probably would have to spend like a day hunting plants to get all the ingredients. But it was rewarding.
Another fond memory is that I went to the sewers and I found the boss Maya Purple and killed it with my alchemist bombing like crazy. While walking around I didnt notice it had dropped A CARD! I was amazed it was a boss card. I clearly remember the effect: YOU CAN SEE INVISIBLE ENEMIES I was like OMG wtf.
So I equipped it, and in the war of emporium I could see all the assassins and target them easily.
I was heavily reported for cheating/using hack. Even to a point that a GM removed me from the game, I failed a complaint that I own a Maya purple card and its equipped and they can check. They checked and said sorry , they were surprised I got a card like that and asked me how I got it and verified the authenticity then they just returned me to the game LOL. I was the only one in the server to own the Maya purple card as the boss cards are extremely rare, so I was really important in the war of emporiums to come LOL. Great great game, I wish i would return to play, but now being a father, having to work, make money, worry about the future... lol
