+Brenda Perez hey buddy how are you ? you can contact me on my facebook scottn2itd@yahoo.com or scott_n2itd@yahoo.com i would really like to talk with you 73s from mr n2itd
I just purchased this rig. Let me know if I am on the right track here. Is your sub band frequency simplex? And your Main band duplex for a particular repeater? So, as a practical matter, you could have the rig installed in a vehicle (or base) and you could wander around with your HT and work through the car/base rig? I assume this would be helpful if you are out of HT range of the repeater, but your mobile/base IS in range? Incidentally, I would assume this works best with a dual band antenna. I am going to try this with a 220 sub band frequency. 73
really sorry for the late reply for cross band am use my ht on uhf ti listen on vhf i can trig it on most reptrs but sometime i cant do it . most of the time am on simplex i hope you will like the radio like i do .plesae keep in touch take care and 73s from dw1 n2itd
Tnx, I was monkeying around and learned that the 638 will not Rx 220 and Tx on another band. IOW, it won't xband with 220 at all. This makes sense bc it won't Tx on 220. I did get it to work as you described using a 440 simplex freq as the link from an HT to the 638. This feature is a plus I was not expecting. I really like this rig and may order another one to replace some antique single-banders at home QTH. I chose this rig over the Kenwood. I had some bad luck with a DR-235 when one or more Rx crystal filers failed. I'm hoping the 638 will keep going for a LT. 73
it can rev 22o but cant talk on it .right now i have sort of a problem but it not so big . from far away i can recv but it sounds off frquency i dont know why but local is fine i may make a video to see if its me or the radio but i still love it
Can you close squelch? If not, may be rec filter problem I mentioned below...hope not. The filters are somewhat fragile; I didn't abuse my DR-235 and never used it mobile; the repair tech told me some were just badly made and go bad no matter what. 73
