    Love your channel and the amount of work you put in to the prints! I plan on getting into printing once I'm no longer a student and have a permanent place to set up a darkroom but for now, I'll keep supporting artists like you! Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see the print in person!

    Oh my gosh, watching this and watching the video about you setting up your darkroom makes me so incredibly happy! I thought I would never get to develop my own film and prints again (last time I did was in high school almost 10 years ago), but seeing how easy it is to do it at home gives me so much hope! Thank you so much, and good luck with everything!

    Gorgeous print brotha!! I love watching the process of sepia toning and spot toning and all the little details you are putting into these things! Also your packaging is on point! I love the idea of the vellum paper cover sheet! Honestly I may have to borrow that idea on future projects. Really impressed with how far you have come in the darkroom in such a short time! I mentioned it on insta, but this is getting me even more stoked for my darkroom adventures!! Thanks so much!

    • @GRAINTV
      @GRAINTV  7 років тому +3

      Man, thank you. Toning is the most fun I think! And man, yeah the vellum really steps things up a notch. I wanted the prints to be at an attainable price point but also not feel cheap, ya know? And man, can't wait to see you get your setup going. I'm still game for a print swap. Talk soon man. Thanks for everything!

    • @NickExposed
      @NickExposed 7 років тому +1

      Oh man you bet Im game for print swaps!! Let me get a few weeks in the darkroom to hone in on my skills and we will work something out! And I definitely think I will like the toning process as well. I found a tone of old bottles of toner in my collection of darkroom stuff, that I have acquired over the years, that Im hoping are still good. Fun fact, a majority of the setup on my darkroom cart actually belonged to a secret service agent who once caught one of the CIA's top 10 most wanted criminals. Really great guy named Michael. He gave me his entire darkroom setup last year because he was moving into a retirement home. Just a little fun fact. lol

      Wow Clyde! Thank you! Ansel has taught me a lot (via his books lol). I have a small Ansel voice in my head when working that tells me to take my time and not cut corners, to do it right. Ansel isn't here to tell me if he likes my work or not, but you saying it means just as much. Thanks again Clyde. -chris

    You inspired me to do the same thing like you. I started to photograph by five years ago and now I'm starting to use negatives. (I just photograph on digital). All the universe behind the film photography, and the process to make it happened, make me more enthusiastic with the photography.
    I found your channel today, searching about film photography, and I liked very mutch. (and sorry, english isn't my first language. I'm Brazilian :P.)
    Thank You.

I hope your journey is a great one! Thanks for watching and good luck! -chris

    Well, there's not a lot wrong with that is there..
    Good to see it all worked out well..Great stuff.
    Made me laugh.. I'm getting old and find it difficult to reach up to the enlarger focus knob while looking through the magnifier.
    You just did it, no effort. lol
    Have you tried selenium toner?
    It adds sparkle.

    • @GRAINTV
      @GRAINTV  7 років тому

      Hi Jon! I tweaked my shoulder last week doing something stupid...so not completely free of effort lol The shot of me outside is selenium toning. I'm not sure why my title card was deleted on the video...oversight i'm sure. Still trying to figure out my prefered dilution. Any tips?

    • @jonjanson8021
      @jonjanson8021 7 років тому +1

      Selenium?
      As you know I'm an Ilford fan boy. I love Ilford stuff.
      Nectar of the gods..
      However Ilford selenium toner is total garbage compared with Kodak.
      I use Kodak selenium toner!
      Sorry Ilford.
      Toning's all about time and dilution, I prefer to mix on the strong side and watch for the overall purple sparkle effect, pull and wash to taste.
      Some say re-fix but I don't bother and have prints over 25 years old as good as the day they were printed.
      Make five identical prints with a good overall series of tones.
      Tone time -20% -10% normal +10% +20%.
      Put them up on a wall in that order. You then train your eyes for whatever you require.
      It's your decision, you are the artist and the artist is always right about their own work.
      I don't do sepia because I'm not living in the 19th century. lol
      No two prints are the same and try not to get locked into numbers.
      As you have probably noticed it's quite noxious stuff,
      Do it in a well ventilated area and don't drink it.
      It's about the most hazardous photo chemical available today.
      Treat it as you would household bleach.
