I have a love for thrifting but I live in southern Illinois so there isn't often grails. Once I found a museum remake of a bronze statue. I was disappointed because it was plaster but I still made $400 for it and a happy customer. I have been binging your videos for the last few weeks and I was so surprised that you only have 1k subs, you are my favorite youtuber right now. I love the euphoria from thrifting, even when I find nothing. I love your videos, and I find your voice very pleasant. My parents are not very big fans of thrifting so I go whenever I can because I can't drive yet. Anyways I loved the Buddha statue and the first abstract piece was sick. Stories like the Owl painting are we keep me going. Hope you have a great day and please keep doing what you do.

I have issues identifying pieces too..both artwork and pottery. A lot of potters are notorious for illegible signatures I've found. Sometimes it just takes time and chance. I've held on to things for a long time and somehow I'll just randomly stumble on a picture of something exactly like or similar and that gives me just enough leverage to figure out who is who.
One item I have that I bought off ebay is a small antique painting on wood of a woman apparently in mourning garb. It's signed 'H. Ewers 1881'. I've been trying to figure out whether it was by German painter, 'Heinrich Ewers'. He was a painter of some note of the Dusseldorf school. He studied and exhibited there as well as Berlin, Vienna and other places in Europe. Apparently he was appointed as court painter by the duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. A contemporary of his was painter, Hermann Becker. I'd like to authenticate the painting and perhaps find out who the woman subject is...have had no luck with any of that to date so I'm going to hang on to it until then, of course.
I think your Buddha might be Malaysian, Indonesian or Tibetan. Compare some of those alphabets to the inscription on the bottom.

As a newish reseller I’ve learned the hard way and lost big money on some items unfortunately. I try and research very thoroughly and as best as I can but it happens and realizing I undercharged after the fact is never fun! Thank you for your awesome videos!

I think I’d make it part of my budget to once a year hire an appraiser and try to get a group price for multiple items. It’s a legit business cost and you’d learn a lot too.

Hi Joe ….Have you thought of contacting any of the many Museums in the USA for further help in idantification, by their own dedicated experts in various categories….Maybe sending e mails with detailed photographs of those lovely items…totally understand why they should not be undervalued and why you are reluctant to list them yet 👍….love all of those you showed, particularly the beautiful glass, some of which I think are probably Italian Murano, particularly those with signatures…Many art glass pieces only ever had paper labels ( as I’m sure you probably know)…so it is usually difficult (so a museum expert would help… didn’t think they would charge if you provided the information as I mentioned??….It’s worth a try, anyway, Joe. I know you are only really interested in the finer quality items…and not the usual collectables available, which is why I always like and appreciate your channel. There is a book which concentrates o n 20th Century Glass ..check on line for that, might be well worth buying too. Antiques Roadshow experts might help,….Look up the names of UK version experts..again on line, because they might be more familiar with Murano and those glass makers in Europe….eg a chap called Andy McConnell , who is very good…don’t think they would charge, and are very reputable…Favourite item , the very colourful large vase you show in the pottery section, just like it most of all….Fingers crossed, Joe🤞🤞🤞… hope you have some success with finally identifying some of then , at least….Cheers! Sue (Sue UK)

I have a water colour painting that is clearly mid century. It has a title “Rain” , it’s dated 1961 and signed Iuigz. It is such a lovely paining in its original 1960’s frame and I cannot bring myself to sell it without knowing more about the artist but can find nothing online and nobody has come up with any information on FB identification groups.

As a relatively new "Treasure Hunter" I found this video to be very helpful & informative. I found an older landscape etching recently where the signature is little more than a scribble. I have been unable to identify it by comparison to others so am hesitant about letting it go at this time. Really enjoyed the last story about the Owl picture that was a once-in-a-lifetime find!

Hello Dad ! 65 years old, and been thrifting for the 4 years but, I have a death pile here in Pennsylvania you may want to look at. Maybe, but, I have no one to help, push, motivate me at my age! I would love to have you take a vacation and come and sift (?) Though the treasures that I have found! Before the crazy lamp lady gets here ((I'm between her and her parents) so they have to travel by here quite often ! Maybe ! We'll get lucky and meet up with them or others! Who knows? There are some in Pennsylvania , never know !

Where i live I can’t source good items like you find but i occasionally find beautiful small pieces of glass with illegible signatures. They are all weighing my dresser down as i am too afraid they will break in the post. Love this video

Omg. I feel seen in this one. :) I have things set aside for a future Dr. Lori appt. Researching signed items and finding nothing drives me crazy. Just picked up a legibly signed, beautifully made piece of pottery and its as though this man made this one piece, then disappeared from the planet. Lol. I can't find anything. Anyway, appreciate your vids!

I have a pile wall art I couldn’t find any information on the Artist or value. So last week I decided to list them via auction on eBay to let the market tell me what buyers are willing to pay.
May have backfired because none have sold😂. I think I have the bid start price to high.

I have a large geometric painting which I believe is by a British artist from the 1960s but I have not been able to authenticate it. I would have loved for you to include images of the signatures and marks on the items you're trying to identify; perhaps we could help.

I know you mentioned before that you have done Dr.Lori's class. Have you done any video calls? I have only done 1 so far( I don't have the volume of items you do though). It's 3 items, however it seemed she may have done another item if I would've moved along a bit quicker and kept the talking to a minimum. It's not so bad if you split the cost among your items, especially if you could squeeze in a 4th item. Or since you have alot of items, maybe the $199.99 video call might be better. As many items as you can get through in a half hour. At least if you have to add some cost to each item, you have found out more about them and I'm sure you have some things that are higher in value that may pay for the video call. Just a few thoughts.

Ask for comments on the provenance directly! You probably got some feedback, but play to the engagement algorithms gods.

Like you, I enjoy the hunt for treasures and go by what grabs my attention and I think might be valuable. I need to begin selling but am intimidated to start an eBay account and begin posting items. I have done two 10 minute Dr.Lori video appraisals and know I have an eye for art and such. What’s your advice?

I want to learn from the items that I find. And I have items sitting as well, since I still cant find what they are. Some pottery...and I have free naive "Northern British Art" peaces, they seem to be by same artist but only one painting is signed...and I think I can read out artist name but it is pre WW2 so...I cant find anything about artist on internet...I kind of think that he might have lost his life in war...and I cant let these peaces go...on a hopes that something might pop up in some stage...

I hate when a seller says: "check ebay and the ebay price on this item", when that comment comes up I usually walk away, knowing that there is no deal to be made
