    Andy James's technique is incredible, you can see years of hardwork, you just dont have the words to explain how this man's talent ends. He has lots of videos where he displays his skills and every single one of them is better than the one before. Props to you Andy for that displayment of talent, Malmsteen is friggin hard and you nailed it like a boss!!

    I really like that he plays 3:26 (the "coming back") as in the album, never heard yngwie play that part live and in my opinion it is an outstanding section in the song, that arpeggio its way awesome.

      the player always comes first, then the guitar. I mean even Malmsteen plays this song on a Strat which is not meant for this type of music and it sounded amazing.

      You're 110% correct in principle but I think Yngwie uses like a 3 or 4 grand custom strat heheh. The equivalent would be if he used a Squire. Now that'd be funny :D.

      I agree, it was very clean and he did a great job. Technique and speed is fantastic. But the tone is a little saturated, the bends at the top of the neck you really have to go for it and hit that high note! I really missed the pick slide towards the end. This kid plays circles around me though :D

    • @uchihaitachidan
      @uchihaitachidan 7 років тому +1

      Its probably because he just learned all the notes, added some but his interpretation
      was different. His vibrato and phrasing was bluesy as a contrast to
      yngwies violin esque vibrato and phrasing... but dont misinterpret it
      as soul i can feel this guys soul but its completely different from
      malmsteen. the composer is always best at conveying the feeling of the song ( the 1985 live in japan version, not the later version).

      +sergio doto If you want to play the original, note-4-note, then you will have to transcribe it yourself since Lick Library make their own versions of songs and don't teach the originals - but at least they make this clear to customers. Stuff like guitar pro versions of this track are based on earlier book published transcriptions which, although are based on the recorded versions, they contain many errors.

    thats because malmsteen has one of the best vibratos in the guitar business. No one can imitate it. Plenty have tried, and failed. Only yngwie can sound like yngwie.

  • @thehiddenpaw7939
    @thehiddenpaw7939 10 років тому +10

    I feel this rendition is lacking in nuance, and depth, but, I am sure that's just because Andy hasn't been playing this all his life, and isn't doing any improvisation, like Yngwie does, every time he plays it. There is a version I, particularly, enjoy on rockgodpatricks channel. It's a bit sloppy in a few parts, but has good feeling, and is woven together with some really good improvisation. It's too bad Andy, probably, doesn't have much time on his hands, or the inclination to really get familiar with, and get a feel for this song. I'd love to see him do it with some serious feeling, and improvisation thrown in.

      abdulla noor Nope. You are incorrect in your assessment of my life. But, you can have your opinion on who I am and how I think. However, you've got the details all wrong. I have a girlfriend, but even if I did not, it would not matter, because, that does not define who I am. At any rate, I don't like this persons rendition of Far beyond the sun. It's terrible, and lacks the depth that Yngwie has while playing it. You, obviously think otherwise, so, we disagree. Such is the nature of people. You would find life quite dull, if it was otherwise. Good day.

    • @JacobDillonEvans
      @JacobDillonEvans 9 років тому +1

      To be honest, I feel like it would be kind of disrespectful if Andy changed Yngwie's song. I think Andy would have done some more improv if it was his song to change. Do you get what I'm saying?

    • @thehiddenpaw7939
      @thehiddenpaw7939 9 років тому

      Jacob Evans Well, plenty of people redo songs and put them out on their albums with their own songs. Alot of them are redone terribly, but there are those that are done to good effect, sometimes even better than the original. There's a metal band called, Coroner, that did a reggae version of Purple Haze, by Jimmy Hendrix, that I like better than his version. Also, they redid a song by the beatles, called, She's so heavy, that I like. I would not say it's disrespectful. But, I suppose some musicians might be intimidated, or feel insulted if they felt someone was doing their own song better than they originally did, or were altering it in a way they are not pleased with. Everybody has their own style, for sure. I doubt Andy was, intentionally, holding back out of respect for Yngwie. It looks more to me like he is just not familiar enough with the song so that he is comfortable to play it in his own style.

    • @mido3ontheway
      @mido3ontheway 7 років тому +2

      Gawain Davies I'll tell you what's helping me to play this, instead of playing each note on it's own , just practice the number of strokes on each string as a group of fast alternated section. For example the starting of the fast part on the B string just play 15-12-10 as a very fast (but clean) section do the same all the way up and "glue" these sections together. I noticed Yngwie does this all the time and it's really working for me. Playing each note on it's own only slows you down and it doesn't happen when you have to play fast. Good luck!

    0:18 percebe-se que no final de cada uma dessas frases sobra muito tempo. É porque essa música é num 3x4 e ele gravou num 4x4! Ainda por cima Malmsteen usa um tempinho voador e termina um pouco antes do tempo "correto". Mas o Andy James toca muito e merece um desconto!

    Ok-the best cover of that song so far on tube I believe.I just watched some vids on his website and I´m a bit disapointed , because -yes he is fast like crazy and plays it ultra clean-but its so sterile...I´m missing the fire an soul from YJM. Covering is one thing, but coming up with something original is a totally different thing obviously.

    this is a very difficult song to play and this guy takes 1st prize in my book the only difference i noted is that this guy is sweating bullets while playing it and Yngwie is yawning and getting a cup of coffee while he's executing his creation..

    I would like to see either Andy James or Jeff Loomis as new Ozzy's guitarist. I believe they would make an awesome job!
