So far this is my 3rd Norman Wisdom film. He was really a great actor. He had more talent than anything in Hollywood these days. He was funny. I had never heard of him before. One of his moves came through my notications. I decided to click to watch the movie. I'm glad l did
Grew up watching Norman Wisdom in black n white in early 70s. Brings back fond memories of cold English winters on Saturdays, with Bruce Forsyth's Generation game in evening, and Norman to keep the kids happy in afternoons. Sometimes, they'd also have Charlie Drake's films, another childhood favorite. Small, but great men, at least to us kids.
My mother used to have a saying good goods come in small parcels 'lots of the great stars 🌟⭐🌟🌟🌟 Both men and women were small 'like james cagney ' norman wisdom ' charle chaplin ' matt monro ' adam faith' Helen shapiro ' barbara windsor' Brenda lee' judy garland 'etc
I hadn't seen this particular film of Norman Wisdom. I always loved all his other films and this one has not let me down. It's a little less slapstick than some of his other movies but Wisdom sure still did a terrific turn in this one.
Thank you lee Clarke for uploading this very funny film 🎥 Our Norman was a great comedian, actor and all round entertainer. Great film, I'm glad it was discovered and made public. Very much appreciated 👍🇬🇧🎬
I saw this movie the only time that it was shown on TV on Boxing Day. It was memorable for some of the gags and scenes that I nver forgot. I watched it again recently on you tube with my kids and I could not stop laughing. My kids could not understand why I thought it was so funny. My opinion is that it is a great comedy.
Much of this film was shot in my hometown - Darwen, Lancs - in the film Sleath on sea - we're actually 30 miles inland from the sea,my cousin was in this film as an "extra" when he was only a boy - this is the first time I've seen it - thanks for uploading it.
No it wasn't....it was mostly filmed in my hometown of Darwen, Lancs!!! My Mum's Grandad was caretaker at Holker House (nr The Old Chapel pub and the co-op) and she was stood watching the filming from the upstairs balcony, Norman Wisdom saw her up there in her Sunday best and he did one of his little dances for her, then took off his cap and bowed...... she's 70+ now and still rabbits on about the moment!
1:08:53...Davy: " From now on I'm gonna be just as crooked as honest people are..." Norman Wisdom : master of the plaintiff, winsome, sorrowful, tender, wistful et seq. Small in stature but a giant of British film comedy....a smile never far away. RIP Norman; you didn't live in my era; I lived in yours.
HOLD ON A MINUTE THOUGHT I SEEN ALL HIS FILMS OBVIOUSLY NOT, JUST STARTED WATCHING CAN TELL I WILL LOVE 💕 IT ALREADY NORMAN WISDOM YOU MAKE MY HEART ♥️ SO HAPPY WATCHING YOUR FILMS 🎥 RIP NORMAN WISDOM.
Good to see the late great NW in an almost straight role although I was still expecting a 'MR GRIMSDALE!!!!' to be spoken at any given time. Thanks for uploading
Norman Wisdom, a great chap, I went and saw him at the Brighton Pavillion a few years ago. At the end of the show he said "I have just one more thing to say to you" and my mate Pete shouted "Mr. Grimsdale" I shrunk in the seat as Norman glared in our direction. (Ah, happy days.)
I was excited about this film , I could not believe there was a Norman wisdom film I had not seen and there was only a few copy of it .I waited many years to see it and when they released it on dvd I was shocked and happy so bought it and watched it and enjoyed it , not as good as the reviews I had read before and Not in my top 10 but worth watching .
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams...............................
Except that it's not. A huge part of life is anticipation, hope, looking forward to something. We live far more in the imagined future than in either the past, where memory tends to fade or cloud or be confused rather quickly, or the present which, as the Old Dixie Poof remarked, goes by so fast you can barely acknowledge it before it's outa sight.
If you concentrate on your breath it keeps you in the present moment. The present is called the present because it is one.only you and I know that. Now know that the word or name of god that was there in the beginning before alphabets is not the written word but your breath silly.
I love the Boss's argument on why crime is an essential part of life because, at the end of the day, no crime, no law and then you're stuck with what to do with hundreds of out of work Police, Court Staff, Prison Staff and even Security Guards! Effectively, you can't have order without disorder and vice versa
The film only lasts 1 hour 42 mins and 40 seconds. It's a blank screen after that. Good film though and interesting to see a young Susannah York in one of her first film roles.
I met Norman wisdom many years ago. Freind and I we nearly convinced him to come for drink with us but his lady Freind was not keen shame as he was true gentleman!!
Norman owes all his good fortune to the British Army, he was a homeless orphan on the streets of London when a snack bar proprietor, advised him to join the Army. He joined as a boy soldier in the band at 14, was picked up by ENSA and the rest is history.
I THOUGHT I'D SEEN ALL THE NORMAN WISDOM FILMS ESPECIALLY WHEN I'VE GOT A DVD BOX SET OF ALL OF HIS FILMS EXCEPT THIS ONE!...I'VE NEVER EVER SEEN THIS FILM BEFORE UNTIL TODAY AND I'M 60...ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! NORMAN WISDOM WAS SO VERSATILE AND THIS FILM SHOWS IT....VERY CLEVER STORY.
This was actually a very delightful film. Notice Ronald Frazier playing the General Cummings. But he was wearing his Airborne wings on the wrong side of his uniform.
yeh a excellent film there. also a couple of other diffrent films from him are "double x the name of the game", that is a strange film where he plays a straight role also good is "whats good for the goose" which was definatly diffrent for norman wisdom to say the least, it is more of a straight comedy "whats good for the goose" but it is sort of a more adult comedy for wisdom, a little bit like a "confessions" film and has quite a bit of nudity courtesy of sally (bless this house) geeson who was in her prime here.
That whack 'American' accent cracked me up - not too bad for a Brit I'm sure, probably practiced it for days until his friends were crazy! Thanks, great flick 💖 🇨🇦
She has done so well….from royalty to a shop keeper, then cheffing up toast in a crap kitchen , and poxy chat shows no one wants to hear…,woweee well done that wiman
I was expecting McCillup to sell the barren land back to the people of Sleath and then Cooper call the American President to rebuild it for free. Everyone is richer in newer homes and McCillup the baddy pennyless.
There Was a Crooked Man... (1970) - imdb 6.9 A charming but totally ruthless criminal is sent to a remote Arizona prison. He enlists the help of his cellmates in an escape attempt with the promise of sharing his hidden loot.
I don't speak English very well, but what I understand from this film is that the British destroy everything with American weapons, then rebuild with American money, and maybe the general who gave the weapon next to George Marshall, who gave the money in his famous plan to rebuild Europe, makes sense.
ahhh...the good old days when pinching a pretty girl's bottom was...if you'll excuse the expression...the 'Norm'. We''ll see his... and its..like no more...sadly.

there is another film with same title which is listed at 2 hours 6 mins, so maybe this is a cunning attempt to attract that traffic

@Stephen Milner So, are you suggesting we should turn it off at that point -- or continue staring at a blank screen? Just wondering.

A whole cut above the usual Norman Wisdom offering, and more like a Boulting Bros satire.

Sheer brilliance 👍🇬🇧
For another example of Norman Wisdom playing it straight, no comedy, have a look at 'Going gently '. It's on you tube.

In real life, Wisdom was creepy with some actresses, but of course, got away with it!
