I recommend Gootwick it has flux built in and will suck up the solder into the copper braid. That wick you are using doesn't seem to have any flux. You could try adding flux into the braid, it should help. Gootwick 3.0 or 3.5 width works amazing. Also you sometimes have to add a little solder onto your iron tip for more heat transfer and use a chisel tip or a horseshoe tip.
Also give the FNIRSI HS-02A USB C iron a try you will love it!

I am in no way qualified to make this comment but while you were using the wick it looks like you removed the plating from the first couple of
through holes as well (unless it just doesnt show well in the video). Shouldnt you have used flux as well? without the plates it wont take solder to put a new joystick back on.
I think that is just the lighting. At the angle you see it when I do the wick its in the shadow. When I told the board up to the camera at 7:20 you can see silver plating still on the board

hey!! do the ps5 and ps4 controllers have interchangeable little disc thingies in them (yk the little fellas on the side of the module -- they have the disc thingies)? my ps5 has a messed up thingie so i wanna know if i can just yoink the stuff from the ps4 controller?
Yeah, you could use the same ones
use flux would be much easier, while using wick you might want to cut it
