Could you please tell me what is the resistance of new analog sticks? its 10k or 8k? becaus now "My Friend" try to tell me that 8k is fine and moved centerpoint to the left that is not compensated by any game is fine.... (in centerpoint I have 4k instead 5k like in original)
hello, I have a problem with the left stick of my joystick, it physically works fine, there is a new analogue and it works perfectly, but for some reason on the console the character moves only up and down, that is, when I move the stick right and left, nothing happens, I tried the same thing on a friend’s console and in games and just in the Xbox360 menu, maybe you know why this is happening?
Hello, this could be due to an improper connection of the potentiometer, or it could be due to missing pads/traces on the pcb due to improper removal. Or the new analog stick is bad
I bough especially for this hot air soldergun to heat up all contacts at once. Hope it will be more smother job. Managed to change right analog stick on both controllers i own with method you have used, one absolutely perfect, on the second one unfortunately damaged one of solderpoints( its snapped off Pcb surface) but still works. Now a left one started drifting away, so i'm curious if hotgun helps.
Nice video. ¿Do you guys know if right stick and left stick are interchangeable in a controller? My left stick is drifting so I wanted to change it. Also, ¿are joysticks generic? ¿Can I buy a xbox analog stick replacement and solder it onto a Nyko wireless controller?
Hello, left and right are interchangeable. The joysticks are pretty generic and are used in various applications, however they are not all the same. If I remember correctly the Xbox 360 shares it's joysticks with the PS3 and PS2, however the elite controllers and the Xbox one controllers use a different joystick. It's best to research and purchase the correct type for your controller.
I would like to ask if its safe to use Solder Sucker? I have quite bad experience with pcb paths tearing up from the board and therefore loosing solder contact. Thx for answer
Id say it’s pretty damn good. I have really good experience with one i bought online for just $4-5. You just need to learn how to use it it just takes good timing and steady hands nothing too hard :)
Hi, I have a question. I replaced the analog sticks but now the moving feels really blocky or something. It's working in all directions but is feels weird. Would you maybe know how to sole this? Best regards Jesse
Dont use the cheap ones. Buy the ones with orange color plastic with f logo on pot. It's the best you can find with no deadzone since alps no longer make this type thumbstick anymore.
It's worse. Big deadzone and snapping movement towards X and Y axis. I know that kind of cheap thumbstick. Use the orange ones with F logo instead. Made by favor union. They made thumbstick for ds4 and dualsense as well.
Hey, not sure what you mean. The smoothness of the analog sticks would be determined by the quality you replace them with, in my case they felt normal.
I don't think I can make an assessment of your abilites. If you are going to I'd recommend looking up soldering tutorials so that you understand the basics.
Awesome video. I went through a couple crappy repair videos before I found this one.
10/10 would definitely recommend.
Glad it helped!
How is the dead zone on these? Any way to find 'original' parts or high grade/alpines ?
Hey man, great vodeo demonstrating the process. And thanks for the links, too! I have 4 controllers and all of them are drifting.
Yikes! It's more complex than I thought!
Did my man just say "... or you can accidentally die to death until you're dead"? Ok...
I came to the comments to see if anyone else caught that 😅
LMAO... just breath that shit
You have inspired me to try this thank you!
Thanks for making the video, I'll try and do my best on my controller

Same but my problem isn't right and left it's the click analog

Can I use the analogs from a 360 and put it in the xbox one controller?
id say not to. Not working the risk
Nope, they are different, Xbox one uses smaller analog sticks.

update? I have a heat gun and I'm curious about the viability

@@cornellstech Thank you so much for the info and the fas reply!

As long as you don't overheat it for too long, you should be fine.

Almost 2 years on, have the aftermarket replacement modules held up 100%? or have they developed drift too/broken down?
Great video, can I ask what is the program you show at the end testing the 360 controller values? is it on console or PC? thanks,
It's crazy how Microsoft makes it harder to repair compared to the PS3 controller, even now 😂
Yeah, and the xbox series is even worse.
Thanks, that's exactly what I needed.
You have a calibration site? I know it’s kinda always been if it’s close enough after replacement but I’m curious. Great vid
The trigger mechanism is soldered in as well? Good lord. Someday, maybe.
Thanks for the help.
No worries, glad I could help.

How are the deadzones compared to an peds of an original 360?

Hey, just wondering on how you connected the controller on pc? I wanna test mine and i don’t have a 360
Hello, I used a generic USB wireless receiver for Xbox 360.
@@cornellstech How much do they usually cost and what should i look for?
I got mine off amazon like 7 years ago. I'd recommend looking there if it's available in your area. I paid like $30 for mine and it was made by HDE
Why do you need to de solder the left and right trigger? Can jt be installed without removing the left and right trigger?
can i use ps3 analog sticks on xbox 360?
I believe so, the ones I purchased claim to work on ps3 and xbox 360, so I assume they are compatible.

@@cornellstech i just wonna know because i hate stiff joystick in 360
@@sofianegaming9872 if your joystick is physically stiff, a new one should fix that.
i have never done soldering do you think i will be able to do that with my controller if i buy a soldering and de soldering iron

You got this! I have never done this before and now i have fixed both an xbox 360 and ps5 controller.
Same here. I managed to fix drift for 5 controllers by replacing the potentiometers
Appreciate this video highly.
Glad it was helpful 🙂
damn would have pulled the trigger just out of the sockets. Thanks the rest was easy :)
gave this a try today and realized that tore off all the pads.
oh well
that looks hard to me
It's a little difficult, but if you are comfortable soldering it's not too bad.
👍
