This is a great series, and thank you for sharing these videos. The singer has fine technique, and the harpist is quite good. It's always nice to hear a harp tuned well to meantone temperament. One question: do any of the singers in this competition manage to avoid the application of wide, modern (c. 200-cent) vibrato to all long notes at the ends of cadences? The effect would be even better if they were able to exercise this restraint--or if the end-of-phrase vibrato were rather narrower, at c. 20-30 cents in width, much better suiting repertoire of this era.
Thanks for your compliment. Interesting question. In this competition we had a lot of entries with a wide style of interpetations. That's the main goal of the competition. You will find for sure singers with this kind of ending you prefer. For example Ivo Haun or Monika Mauch.
@@SchlossWeissenbrunnStiftung Thank you, I looked through many of the videos and had difficulty finding even one singer who avoids the use of such wide vibrato, but was finally able to find a single one: Laia Blasco Lòpez. To me, this says something profound about the state of contemporary early music practice as regards solo vocal music of the Baroque period.
Mon modèle pour mon examen de diminution ! Bravo Romain, c'est magnifique 🙏
I showed this to my repertoire class to demonstrate diminutions, and everyone swooned.
Oh, I hope they’ve recovered in the meantime 😊
Splendida interpretazione!
