I’ve used my electric reel to catch and release them. You can attach the descending device to the bottom of your rockfish rig and then descend one down and hook and catch one on the way up. Rinsed and repeat lol
Haha absolutely you can! We've done the same but recently been having a blast utilizing lighter gear with artificial strictly and just using the Kraken to descend as needed. Easy peasy compared to having to hand crank them like we used to!
@@OliverNgy a lot harder to use light artificial now that the depth is 300+ except heavy knife jigs. I assume this video was taken prior to depth change. I like the shallow water rockfishing much better. But the deeper the better quaility.
@@ultimatejay this was 2 days ago targeting Whitefish and sheephead under 300 ft. We fished 120 & 160 gram jigs between 350-500 feet easily with the right gear. There just needs to be an adjustment and it's not bad

@@OliverNgy Thin diameter line is key. Dont need 40-50lb line for a 3lb rockfish. 15-30lb ideal, thin line less scope- you know the deal.
