Pressing Grapes to Make Rose' Wine

- This video shows beginner winemakers how to use a small press to direct press grapes. In this case the resulting wine will be a rose' but the method is the same for white grapes. It further shows an easy and inexpensive method to de-stem and crush prior to pressing.

I just pressed 18 pounds of Delaware grapes. My first ever. I pressed them twice and probably went too hard on them, but I wanted to fill the entire gallon carboy. The juice is looking a bit brown, which has me concerned.

Many observations. No bag in press ... clog staves. Using a plywood piece of wood over blocks is what all of us do why not? Why an inadequate number of board. standard numbers are 14 ponds of grapes for 1 gallon of wine ... golly you get almost twice the norm... Has he ever made a rose?
