Thanks mate, I got sick of trying to jam my bail shut with bites on the drop so I wanted to try overhead. It’s a bit cumbersome with the vibing because of the drag the lure creates at depth so I wanted a light, comfortable setup to make it less cumbersome, hence going to a low profile, the grappler felt epic so I thought I’d try it… I can’t jig on my slow pitch setups, I prefer a faster tip section to put energy into the lure, tried the reel on the SW game 3-6 overhead but it didn’t balance well with the reel… the nomad 3-6 slow pitch balanced nice and has the action i was after. It’s pretty brutal on most fish but the power is welcome on big stuff!
Gotta be happy with that outcome on the Reds, PB on the new Squidtrex! I reckon they’ll go hard on the Snapper in close and possibly the Kings n Jew! Hanging to out them in the water once Cyclone Gab passes! Great stuff Mick!

I had these lures before anyone else but the weather didn’t let me at em until 2 weeks before the release! We were chasing fingermark and had a tough start to the day on another zone so moved out to further islands to some other proven ground and first drift that happened! Monkey off the back in a big way 😅 couldn’t have been better really! To be honest I was expecting a monster fingermark but even better the unicorn of the islands, I think you can hear the excitement in my laugh 😂😂😂

Been watching the maps of late and you guys have copped nothing but prop wash for days plus all the rain! Soon as I saw them, like most of the Nomad Lures of late, those Max Vibes etc plus now the Squidtrex they’ve created something very special and unique that’s for sure. And yes, that was definitely a “WTF NO Way” moment my end when I saw that big red hit the surface, Trophy Fish that’s for sure! 🍻

You definitely want a bit more tip than the slow pitch rods have to offer, the pe3-6 Nomad rod in the slow pitch is the pick if you want it for vibing only, but it’s a bit stiff for the slow pitch jigs we run…
Hey bro I’m quite limited to where I can go in my 4m but my work is quite flexible so I see more calm days then not, I’m really struggling to find ground in that 20-30m mark I’ve figured out the shallows 10-15. Would you have any contour tips or anything to point me in the right direction?
My best tip is to get your side scan dialed for the inshore ground and use those good weather days to get good scans. I got relief shading on my 4m tinny which puts me in the area then I sidescan to see if there’s much worth hitting… but the problem is I need it to be calm to get a decent picture and decipher what I’m seeing…
@@Micksgonefishing yeah bro that’s a big thing I’ve noticed is struggling to get good picture on sidescan with any sort of swell, I’ve got bathymaps to narrow my search down just can’t seem to find anything worth dropping on, I’m sure it will all come together one day! No problem!! Yeah they kinda went crazy with this lure and it sold out really fast! There will be a few floating around the place but they won’t be easy to find until stocks become available again…
Haven’t looked at it on paper but it’s pretty decent! I’ll have a play with it and get a few extra kg when I get around to it but for now it fishes 50lb no problem.

And the truth is that there in austral part of sea .. aus / new Zealand has many more fish than heare ...I'm not saying anything bad about that lure..I'm saying that if the fish is a lot will eat with almost everything...
@@Micksgonefishing just dont put hands any where near the inside of the gills, even the plates will get fungus on them and spread to the gills...as your hand is still touching the gills.the back of your hand is....

Easy to use a Lure in place's that are full of fish like aus or nz try tu use it in mediterranean sea ..... you will not catch anything....

sticking ya hand in the fishes gill area, will kill them, as it will cause a fungus to smother their gills...
I agree mate and that’s why I only grab the gill plate and not stick my hands in their actual gills.
