@@davidteager It’s just incredible, the variety of greens is so calming along with the bird song. Can I ask about the forest, what type of forest is it? I’m not familiar, I’m guessing they’re some sort of deciduous tree. Truly inspiring thank you for sharing it.
Thanks very much for the work to shoot and narrate this video after a garden tour day. After a garden tour, I can’t wait to put my feet up and breathe a sigh of relief. Beautiful garden, thoughtfully designed and lots of character. A real Eden. Thanks for sharing it with us.
This is such a stunning tour. I think I’ve watched it at least five times in the last couple of months. I hope you give more tours. Like, maybe a couple in the spring and a few throughout the summer to see how things come on and how they age.
You have created absolutely beautiful shade gardens! I’ve enjoyed this video tour so much, I must have replayed it dozens of times. I do hope you will do another video garden tour this summer! I am a shade gardener as well and enjoy the peaceful, lush foliage you can get in the shade. It’s easy on the eye and is my serenity. Wishing you the best with your seedlings. Maybe someday they will be available for sale. Happy gardening! 😊 🌱☀️
Your gardens look effortless And that is a HUGE compliment…Totally know all the hours of work you put into it and times it by a thousand. Thank you for sharing
Beautiful garden and a lot of work in putting it in over the years. The Hosta collection is amazing, and everything else is a wonderful bonus. Thanks for sharing your garden. I appreciate you scrolling the Latin names of the plants as you filmed. Thanks for taking the time to share your garden artistic creations.
Absolutely stunning. And thank you for all the information during the tour. This past summer, I invested heavily in heuchera. I didn’t realize that they like it a bit on the dry side.
What an fantastic garden! I love the combination with garden shrubs and perennials and the old native trees keeping the shade. I just bought my property and have lots of work in front of me, but I´m hoping for a garden as beautiful as yours in 10-20 years or so.
Wow! Your garden is such an inspiration. I absolutely loved all of your garden jewelry beautifully displayed among your fantastic collection of hostas and plants. Thank you so much for the tour.
I'm very late seeing this but this is my favorite garden ever. Wow. I WISH I could live in a world of hosta...I have NO shade on my property so mine will never look as lush. This is truly beautiful ❤️
Very nice garden. Visited it a few years ago. Lots more loving care has been given it. Thanks for sharing. Especially helpful to have the names of so many of your outstanding hostas
David your garden is absolutely gorgeous. I’m a big fan of hostas and yours are wonderful as are all the other plants. You have a lot of hostas I’ve never seen before. I really enjoyed this tour but it’s made me want more hostas. I also love the heucheras . I hope you do a tour for 2023😊
Hi! OMG! Your garden is amazing! I am in Tennessee zone 7b and our Hoatas and Flowers does not get near that big. I think it is our warmer climate. Beautiful!!!
Thank you for the awesome tour!!! Everything is so beautiful!!! You should name your gorgeous squiggly blue seeding at 12:39 mark "Teagate Azure Sea Star"
Gene from Pennsylvania I love all your hostas and I have 30 gardens at memorial Park in New Kensington and they're just beautiful and I use egg yolk and water to keep the deer way I do it when they first come up and then just that's all I have to do is a one time and it keeps the deer last year I forgot and the derangement hostas so I have to keep remembering to do it when they first start coming up love your hostas
I just love your garden so many beautiful things, you are giving me ideas for my own garden, I love that you have so many viburnums they are one of my favorite plants, I wish more people would plant them! Thank you for this tour hopefully we can see your garden again ❤
I absolutely love what you have created! So many great ideas that I will be trying out right away for some of my challenging areas. May I ask how you what products you use to keep the slugs, bunnies and deer at bay?
@@davidteager you did such a great job with this video that I think I would watch the whole video of naming the 500 😉. Beautiful garden and thank you for sharing!
Such a beautiful garden with an amazing collection of rare hostas!!! Could you share the source of your bench (30:23)? I wonder if I could purchase one in my area (NJ).
This is so beautiful and the garden is stunning. Thank you very much for sharing. I am going safe it as a inspiration for my new garden. I admire you to manage keeping the hostas away snail. May I know how do you do this please? I have tried many things without success. Thank you.
Don't know if you know this or not but that stuff is extremely poisonous to birds and mammals and attracts them, not to mention poisoning them when they eat the poisoned slugs. There are so many non-poisonous products out there to get rid of slugs -
Absolutely breathtaking! Such a piece of heaven! May I ask what you do with all your beautiful glazed pots in the winter David? I'm in SW Ontario and I don't think they would survive outside.
Magnificent. What would you suggest for a super-hardy fern to nest in my hosta beds. I've tried so many and they don't survive our winters. I'm in Southern NJ Zone 7a. Thanks.
There are lots of ferns that should be hardy for you (as they are for us). Japanese painted ferns (and their hybrids) work especially well with hostas. Autumn ferns (look for one called 'Brilliance') are also great.
How do u keep your mulch path clean especially in the fall with so many upper story trees. We also have a ton of trees that constantly rain down twigs and then all the leaves in the fall.
I didn't realize how beautiful a Monochromatic garden could be. Do you have issues with snakes? I am having that problem here in East Texas, copperheads seem to love hiding in the foliage.
David, very interesting video turned out. May I use your video? I want to post some moments from the video, having translated into Ukrainian. My name is Vika, I'm from Ukraine. I'll give you a link in the description as the author of the video.
That depends significantly on where you live, how much water you can give them, and whether you can tolerate what they might look like at the end of August. Start with a fragrant hosta and see how they look.
Not well these days. Constant regimen of spraying, plus Milorganite fertilizer. My seedlings are fenced in now. Some info at www.delvalhosta.org/faqs-part-ii

Spectacular garden! So well designed and healthy. How do you keep the deer from eating all your Hostas?
Diligence. But sometimes (like last year, after this video!) they do anyway.
This is a stunning garden. How do you keep deer from nibbling?
BEAUTIFUL shade garden!!! How do you water these I did not spot irrigation or sprinklers??
We set up sprinklers or hand-water as needed. Things do o.k. until late summer, when we actually hope for tropical storm moisture!
Just wow. I love hostas and I'm slowly expanding my collection. Is your property fenced against deer?
Not yet, but we are going to have two.

Can you be more specific?
Hello, fellow Kentuckian! What is the name of the large prairie plant in the back yard, please?
I’m not from Kentucky, but my folks were. As to the plant, did you mean the Silphium terebinthenaceum? (Hoping I spelled that right)
Is that "mouse ears" next to Fantabulous? (at the 16 minute mark)
You’re probably seeing Little Hobber there.

Very lovely garden. will any of these plants grow in Southern Calif or do they need plenty of water ?
See www.delvalhosta.org/hosta-info for general growing conditions. Hostas need cold winter dormancy, which most of CA cannot offer.
Can I plant hosta in sun? If I can could you give me names. ❤😢
