You made show notes! Your night shift is starting out to beautifully. And of course the bubbles and brioche is stunning. Your yarn you spun is so pretty you should be proud because it’s so lovely ❤
Congratulations on your first hand spun! I can't wait to see what you make with it. 😊 I casted on a sweater by a new to me artist, Annie Lupton. I'm trying out her pattern Earth Folk.
Jean Smart was hilarious as Frasier's crush, so funny!!! I'm reading/listening to Dead Calm by Erik Larsen - it's all about the Lusitania, WW1 & 2 history - brain food but interesting. I'll check out Brooklyn & Long Island. Also I finished my Master's degree in Data Science, I got 'A's' in both classes!!! So now I just need to land a great job using my new knowledge. So far looking for a job is just as awful as I thought it would be, nothing is happening! I've only been looking for a week but I'm ready to make a move! I think the Pengweeno is the way to go with your hand spun, it's more interesting than a hat. It was great to see you Leena and catch up on what you're doing, please keep it coming. I love the Spincycle colors, it's going to be gorgeous.
Hello my friend! Apologies for the much-delayed response. Congrats on finishing your masters with such success! So incredibly proud of your. Your dream job will come along, I’m sure of it. I hope you take some time to celebrate and relax. Much love to you.
Great job on your first skeins!!! They are beautiful. There is no such thing as "perfect" handspun IMO, because if it is perfect it won't look like you spun it, but got it from a store (insult if you ask me, wink, wink). I'm slow and had to learn first on the spindles (I still love them but they are soo slow but they have the best control). You'll get to your goals, I am sure. Congrats, love the yarn and I'm sure your hat will be great if it's what you decide on making and I look forward to seeing the WIP and/or finished product!
Your shawls are going to be a real show stoppers!! I love shawls. I have many and each one can change up my outfits. You’ve made me want to knit another! Your hand spun is beautiful! Blessings
Just a few minutes in but I meant to comment last week about thoughts on what to do with the beautiful hedgehog fiber you have…a combo spin would give you all the amazing qualities you love in spin cycle (I think, although I’ve never used SC) I spun for a sweater 10 braids of 5-6 different colorways and I am ADDICTED to working with it and coming across all of amazing, unexpected color combos. ❤
Hi Leigh! Yes! This is the goal for that fiber. There are so many fun colors in it, I need to keep gathering colors to combine it with. I’m still not ready to touch it on the wheel…I’m so scared I’ll not do it justice! But every time I practice I feel like my spinning gets smoother and more consistent.
Not to enable your spincycle purchasing futher 🙈 but spincycle have an option on their website for a 30-minute virtual shopping appointment. It's $30 upfront but then that amount is then credited to whatever purchase you end up making. You schedule a time, they facetime you from the shop, and you can see all the different skeins, get advice on pairings, and pick the exact skeins you want for your project. It's a dream!😍
Started taking knitting to school (work) for lunch relaxation as we finish up testing, finals, graduation prep. I watched this video during that time but this morning, I was trying to remember your book talk and couldn't remember so many things. So - rewatched your video on my typical Saturday morning knitting session. Lesson learned. Still don't have the spinning bug myself, but am enjoying your journey. Brooklyn and Long Island are on my tbr for my upcoming (glorious) summer break away from all the students ;-)
Hi Sylvia! I’m sorry for my crazy late response. No one knows how bonkers the end of school is more than you! I hope it was a good end of the year and that you have an amazing summer lined up…filled with books and knitting 💚
Wow! Your shawl is turning out really nice and your handspun is amazing! I love your ability to take risks and try new things. Also, thank you so much for the recommendation for Webster! I've never heard of it before. Enjoy your Texas visit - you'll be closer to me!! Hugs from San Antonio!
Hi Sylvia!! So sorry for the very late response. I hope you are well and managing to stay cool in Texas! It’s been so hot in Boulder…I’m out of the practice of tolerating the heat! Happy knitting and lots of love to you 💜
Beautiful mops 😂 I just pulled out a hank of my handspun out of the sink this morning and it looks similar to yours. I spin sometimes and I’m still learning but I know it will be great when knit up
My earliest hanks of handspun are quite thick and thin and run closer to bulky and superbulky than the worsted and DK I am currently spinning (sport/fingering still being more an aspiration than a reality). I have cast on the Colour Yourself Free Cardi by Lauren Halsall to make use of my earliest spinning attempts. It is an incredible feeling to knit your own handspun yarn.

I knitted both shawls. I really enjoyed both but I find that the Nightshift is more spectacular.

Yes! All in good time 🥰
It’s interesting to hear about your thoughts as you prepare your knits. I am similar. Also, I love your book recommendations! Thanks

I think you would enjoy The One in a Million Boy by Monica Wood. One of the best books I’ve ever read
Oh yay! Thank you for the book rec! I will look it up. Love those books that stay with you 💚
Oooo what part of Texas have a great trip
Sorry for my insanely late response! It’s been a crazy few weeks. We went to Dallas! Such a change from Boulder!
