    I had a feeling those were T5s, the HCRS building in Springfield, Vermont, got those in the 2006/2007 period, when it was constructed. I have brand new T5s now, so I can get the Phillips Altos in to them. I have F54T5s. The building, possibly has the same fixture manufacturer. I started getting T5s in 2021. But I can easily get more 48-inch T8s doesn't look like the industry of those are dead, either. The worst that happened, was that there's no more U.S.A.-made fluorescents. The T8s went over to Poland, like the F15T8s and most T5s. The T12s, got moved over to India.

    Oh, one thing, at 14:54, nearly all the new Alto T5s that were made in the China facility, are the 5000K ones, an observation at Home Depot over here in the U.S.A.

    Nice job dude glad you kept it fluorescent and not "upgrading" it to some LED garbage! How old is this school as I see these are T5HO fixtures?
    Cool looking fixtures as well, although if this were me I would be a bit scared that whole row would come crashing down as I was working on it!
    Fluorescent and HID rules I still use my 100W/M90 Metal Halide fixtures I was given due to an LED "upgrade" bright for only 100W lamp watts around 120W/1A draw including ballasts losses.

      I prefer LED over fluorescent I mean like a whole fixture replacement not just LED retrofit bulbs the school was built in 2009 I believe

    4:40 just a word of advice, [im sure you are aware of this] be careful with those types of bulbs. they have mercury in them, and also when they break, the explode and shoot broken glass everywhere. [i have never seen any of that in person, i just know what i've been told. and even if it's not true its better safe than sorry]

    • @nics-systems-electric

      @@nics-systems-electric I just assumed my dad knew what he was talking about. But I figured they broke normally because it would have to be pressurized inside in order to explode, but I didn't have the nerve to find out for myself

    I have some fluorescent tube bulbs as my lighting in my basement, I was wondering if there is any specific way to change them like you they go in a certain direction or does it not matter?

    Do you ever replace any of those old fluorescent tubes with LED bypass tubes? They don't require ballasts you hook line voltage to the tombstones. Not sure if they are available for 347 volt though. Here most commercial lighting circuits are 277 volt. Higher voltage is nice though. Lower current is drawn by each circuit allowing smaller wire size.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Рік тому

      We do use the bulbs that you can bypass the ballast sometimes usually we try and just use those on really hard to get at ones as they are a little bit more pricey such as parking lot lighting and outdoor lighting and Highup stairwell lighting stuff like that

  • @vrryan6
    @vrryan6 2 роки тому +1

    Don't you have a GoPro? you should get the head mount for it and make it a little easier to film yourself changing the ballasts and bulbs.
