Manaslu Expedition 2022, My Full Story.

- Опубліковано 1 лис 2022
- In september 2022 me and Max joined Arnold Coster's team for an expedition to climb Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world (8163m). This year the weather has proven itself to be very unpredictable which caused a lot of trouble such as avalanches. In this video report I try to show what the experience was like during the climbing period. I also try to give an idea of what it's like preparing for such an adventure and what it takes to even get to basecamp.

You failed to summit but you did not fail to climb the mountain, great attempt and thank you for showing a video of the hardships and adventure that is climbing!
It was definitely an amazing climbing adventure. Thank you!
Man, that was like beeing on the trip.
Absolutely amazing!
R.I.P. all victims. 🙏❤️
Thanks!
You made some excellent decision making by not pushing forward when you did. Must be the hardest part of climbing.
Great decision. Another time. Wisdom = life. Great video. You didn't fail. You lived to climb another day. Peace to those who passed.
I hope Little Richard gets to The Netherlands soon! Awesome adventure. Stay safe!
There are a lot of dogs on youtube that have great lives, but I think any of them would trade places with Little Richard in a heartbeat. That dog is truly living a dog's fantasy adventure life.
Thanks for the great video and explanation of things along the way. I couldn't believe how large base camp was but saw climbing footage in another video of how long the lines were and how slow they moved. Anyway glad you played it safe and get a chance to do it again. Love the dog!👍👍
One of the best mountaineering videos I’ve seen before!
Bravo Maarten! 👏 I'm very glad that you are safe after the avalanche at your Basecamp! Thanks for your Very nicely done Adventure video of your expedition! I have NO DOUBT that you'll be back on the mountain and ultimately make your Dream come true ✨️
Great Video! Life in the mountains isn't easy. It's never easy to make the call that you're not able to summit, but it says a lot about you as a mountaineer. Looking forward to your next video.
What a beautiful & simultaneously sad Video! Wouldve loved to see you on the Peak! But you did the right decision to descent! Greetings & good luck on your next journeys :)
I really appreciate the passion for providing for the people of the region!
I like how you tossed it into English with “ A little bit spooky.” For basically the American who aren’t bilingual.
Breathtaking photography! Thank you. Be safe!
Thank you for a great video. I really enjoyed it and deeply respect your humility and authenticity. Let us know the progress on bringing Little Richard home!
A great Video! A great experience! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your journey... I loved seeing the views from the top of the world!
Amazing and stunning views, thankyou so much for sharing your journey you guys are brave alright
Thank you for the video. I am very sorry about Dawa.
Really enjoyable video. Good decision making along the way. Definitely wasn't meant to be last year for anyone on Manaslu.
Your music 🎶 is so much better than some of the other sites that play morbid music and there's no way to mute it.
Thank you Martin for this great video!
I saw dear Dawa and my lovely Richard, I love them both very much.
Hey Miao! Thank you for taking care of Richard as well. Hope you're doing good! Me and a friend are rooting for PTL or Tor Des Geants. Kailaa used to be main sponsor of Tor, do you know if they are again for 2023?
@@AdventureBasecamphq Yes
awesome
Great video! I’m attempting Manaslu in September this year, will be my first 8000 meter mountain, hope I can document it on my channel as well as you did!
Good luck Jon, I look forward to watch your adventures.
Same, plan is to start early September.
@@tomk3732how much was it ???
@@averagejoegrows 5500 USD but there were some additional costs. Whole trip with tickets etc. from home ended up touch under 10k.
@@tomk3732 did you make the summit and what guide service did ya use?
thanks sir love from nepal
An excellent video. I think you failed successfully. While you didn't summit, I think you made a much harder decision and assuredly the correct one to go down. It's an admirable quality to be able to stay cool headed and make a difficult decision like that. I commend you. Well done.
Great video - I am using it to scope up my 2023 climb. I am sure weather in 2023 will be better as it is hard to imagine it being worse.
Thanks! Good luck preparing for your climb, I sure hope you'll have more luck with the weather. It's a great mountain!
RESPECT TO YOU BRUV
Sorry about Dawa and failure to summit but your decision was the right one
Awesome, very informative video...any suggestions on how I can prepare for Manaslu in the Sept-Oct?
Great video. What do you think of the Kailas down suit?
Need to know what kind of tents are being used. Never have i seen any so well insulated and cozy looking.
Sorry, I don't know the manufacturer but they're the tent every company uses. Very heavy and bulky though.
Why did you leave Richard in Samagoan? I brought him back by helicopter and jeep because he was alone.
Richard wasn't yet in Samagoan when I left. He came down with the rest of A.C's team. What went down then I don't know but thanks for taking him.
@@AdventureBasecamphq oh ok brother. Well they left him at Samagoan. Everyone left and I was still there for 5 days. I think they didn't want to be bothered driving with him. Your videos show someone taking such good care at BC and then just leaving hi behind which is strange. But the "Sherpa" is always here to help! haha
I stay in the Aloft every time I visit KTM
Awesome video, watched it with pleasure!
one question, I see that a lot of you were wearing the same down suit.. did you rented it thru the agency you were going with, and if yes can you tell the rental price?
I actually bought it with a great discount trough Seven Summits/Arnold Coster.
@@AdventureBasecamphq ohh thats nice? I am currently looking for one for myself :)
Doing Manaslu next September.. you coming back?
❤❤❤❤
Inspiratie!
Nice video but do you know one think ? unfortunately we lost Mr dawa Sherpa from arnold custer team ,
Hi Pasang, I know.. Dawa was a great guy, I'm very sad that this happened.
how much was the trip?
is the person who died ( Dawa Sherpa) is the one at 31:05?
I haven’t weighed 67 kilos since I was a fetus. Little people are so lucky.
Such is the life for the tourist/climber ... better to watch videos like Dhaulagiri, by climbers, not tourists.
Did you get Richard??
Sadly no, but he’s in a good home in Nepal.
failed to climb but won to live
What happened to the puppy?
Richard is in a loving home in Kathmandu, it's proven to be very hard to get the paperwork done..
What Happened to the little doggy.
Richard is in a loving home in Nepal now.
Wo ist denn der kleine Hund?
He's in a loving home in Nepal.
I really enjoyed the raw boots-on-ground approach of this video. But your focus on your own experience first, and the lead sherpa's death second, offended me. Especially following it with a request for sponsorship.
I didn't mean to offend anyone. But I'm just a dude with a GoPro giving an insight of my experience. We all like to see succes but stuff like this happens on pretty much every 8000 expedition. Support for Dawa's family is running and I will endorse as well as contribute. I also intend to keep climbing and take risks that are inacceptable to some. I choose to do that, like Dawa.
I'm sure many and everything offends you. I'm offended that you're offended
In the puja ceremony they asked permission to climb the mountain. Permission denied.
I guess so.

When rich Europeans have no more real-world problems to worry about, they start creating their own 🤨
I know just look at the comments barely anyone mentions the 3 sherpas lost in particular Dawa. These men have families I feel this is senseless first world selfishness achieves nothing for anyone else and I noticed all the rubbish too plastic bottle on the ground and bags of rubbish in the street. Quite honestly the worst example of human indulgence Ive ever witnessed.
Your lead sherpa died??? No emotions at the end… really sad??? You‘re not sad at all as you turn right into crowdfunding.. Dude
I need captions in order to subscribe. I can’t read lips if the person has an accent or even a strong U.S. dialect. PLEASE add them to your channel! Deaf is deaf. 🫶🏻🦻🏻
Thanks for your suggestion, I hadn't looked at this from a hearing impaired point of view. I will start working on captions.
