What Gary said is so true... it's the fanbase that made most of Take That's hits succeed, if you play their music for people who don't know them it's only Back For Good that people take to. A close second is Pray. Other than that, their early catalog doesn't really grab people.

I loved this interview, and I love these guys. I’m just writing my debut album “Who The Hell Am I?” But I’ve been worried I’m too old for it, like, I’m not too much younger than Gary, Mark and Howard, and I know they’re obviously totally well known and established in the industry and I’ve never had that success but it’s given me more drive to actually get a wriggle on with my album, so thanks guys. Really great, funny interview, and best of luck with the album 👏🏼👏🏼

The interviewer asked what’s the fear?
The simple answer to that is failure, and the more success you have had the greater the fear of failure and potentially damaging the legacy they have already created. I don’t suppose anyone would want to feel like they have damaged everything they have achieved.

Clinical psychologist here but this is just an arm chair diagnosis: Gaz- covert narcissist, Howard- prob the most “normal” one without apparent personality disorder, Mark- I see depressive disorder as a baseline of his being. On a side note, they obv did not pay for a stylist and between the bad lighting and HD, they look a decade older than they should. Don’t do drugs or drink, kids.

I'm not sure about the "When you're not having hits then you're gone" thing. Maybe in the beginning but once you have a fan base, I don't think it's quite so bad. When was the last time Elton John or Madonna or the Backstreet Boys or whoever really had a hit and they're still around, touring and stuff.
