This comment is unrelated to the 20th anniversary celebration, but I do remember hearing about the subway crash referred to near the end. Basically what happened is this: on July 3, 1981, a Manhattan-bound 2 train rear-ended another west of the Sutter Avenue-Rutland Road station near the tunnel portal (the 2 ran to New Lots Avenue in those days). The motorman of the train was killed in the accident. Of course, these were the bad old days on the New York City subways and such things were not uncommon. At the time, I was just eight years old.
