The craziest thing about them collabing is that because Bricky is utterly unphased Codden has to push herself to wild levels to try to provoke Bricky so we get to see both of them at their actual limits of rizz/unhinged/horny. This is why we need to normalize collabs between vtubers and fleshtubers

Cotton and Bricky both have such good energy with each other. It’s such amazing banter and I always get so excited to watch these collabs. I’m already on my second watch through!! Honestly I just love hearing bricky yap and self reflect about his content. It’s super awesome and a sign of wanting to grow and improve.
The encore we absolutely were asking for. Peak banter. On the topic of reviews - if a review covers your honest opinion, and shows the receipts for why your opinion is the way it is, then it's fit for purpose. And if the review is negative when people are looking for validation of their own positive thoughts on a game, then unfortunately the modern internet culture seems to be to shit on folks expressing their opinion. Just ignore them and keep on doing what you do. Folk will have forgotten about it within 6-12 months at the latest.
I started watching bricky through the uncharted videos. It was a breath of fresh air to see an actually positive game review, but what made me stick around was the actual care, attention, and detail that went into explaining his points. I liked that each point had a proper explanation and solid evidence to prove it. A game wasn’t good just because it’s good. A game isn’t bad just because it’s bad. In his MW3 review he went through every single cod campaign to actually prove why he thought that MW3 had the worst campaign. As long as he continues to be passionate in creating cohesive and evidence based reviews I know I’ll be sticking around
I think with regards to the Calgar thing, yeah its pretty clear *mechanically* why Calgar is there. Titus sent a message specifically to Calgar, the sorcerer wanted this to happen so he could kill Calgar, etc. But I can see why Bricky feels that Calgar's overall inclusion felt weird. Because most of the relationship between Calgar and Titus happens in the material that came out between SM1 and SM2. That's where you learn that Titus was important to Calgar and the Ultramarines, and that Calgar was working really hard to get him back (beyond that single line Calgar gives to say as much at the end of SM2) but all of that is stuff that happens in material that's outside of the main story. If you just play SM1 and SM2, then Calgar just being sent a message and showing up does feel a little strange. It's like with comic book events that relegate major plot points to tie-in issues instead of the main series. This is information that would make the events of the story clearer, that you're just expected to have already, and that's not the best way to tell a story.
Warhammer in a casual media suffers from the same destiny does. Unless your grinding it and learning it its just a shooter for ya. When your versed in the lore its frustrating to see some things done they way it is
I do really love Bricky's content and it's nice he's being self-reflective on how he approaches his content. Though I feel the Space Marine 2 video was more of a context/communication issue more than anything else. Narratives can be broken down into 3 "driving" factors: Plot driven: Plot, story structure and external conflict Character driven: Personal goals, internal conflict and growth Theme driven: World building, exploring the setting and philosophical theses of the author While Bricky was being critical on the narrative as a whole. So, when he talked about Theme driven topics, like "Why is Calgar here?" for a in universe context, the audience was thinking Bricky was asking it in the Plot driving context and blasting him there. Not breaking the narrative into parts is probably what was confusing everyone on who was talking about what. So indeed, I think if Bricky wants to improve on his ability to criticize narrative, he needs to better explain what parts of a narrative he is criticizing, but how to show that in a video? I have no clue. He's a solid content creator and is better suited than most to find a way, but it is certainly not easy when everyone is ready to grab a pitch fork rather than sit down and talk about things they love analytically and fairly. Everything can be criticized, no matter how much you love it, nothing is perfect and is perfectly fallible.
Haven’t gotten to the collab part yet but watching and listening to you being introspective about your content creation and reviews is super interesting to hear
It's interesting you feel that way about your negative-skewed reviews. I'm very new to Warhammer so I don't know any of the deeper lore stuff, but when you were explaining 'what you meant' in your Space Marine review I was like 'oh yeah i knew that'. I recon it's not your reviewing I think it could literally be people not understanding your mannerisms maybe. Not a bad thing, it's just like: "all meaning during communication is dictated by the recipient" yaknow.
@@WildWolfGod It's great when they're civil but I feel it's getting so increasingly infrequent that it's becoming infuriating to watch. Glad they're having fun tho

58:12 as someone whose no.1 uncontested favourite show is Arcane (watched it fully about 8 times now), I think it was a pretty good video. To Bricky's early on discussion about needing naysayers. I do come here loving his bad takes. didn't see in chat but Rick and Morty is directly inspired by/parodying Doc and Marty from Back to the Future...seems obvious, but, if you watch interviews with Justin and Dan, the show was started as a parody of Back to the Future but they didn't have the rights to use the names from the movie so they just used something that sounded close enough.
I totally understood all of Bricky's points in the space marine review, I thought he was pretty clear about what he was trying to say. Now this could be a case of me just thinking like Bricky (i.e. with the Calgar going through the portal thing, we both think of things from a narrative "why would this character do that" perspective vs. others taking a literal perspective). But still, I'm just surprised people didn't understand Bricky's points in the space marine review. I totally understand disagree-ing with Bricky though, I'm just confused how people are confused.
