Comments are pointing out me grouping Undertale with Indie horror games. To elaborate, I don't really think it belongs in that category (despite having some minor horror in it), but the target audience has a massive overlap. It appeals to the same crowd.
That's something I was literally coming to this comment section to mention and...wow okay good point haha. If you haven't played it...I think since you enjoyed TADC you'd enjoy Undertale and Deltarune, the characters have a similar appeal to me (though I tend to connect a lot of stuff back to Undertale lol). Either way DEFINITELY check out other stuff by Gooseworx, the main creative mind behind the show. They're a fantastic animator in their own right and this is very much a Gooseworx show.
Undertale is an rpg that has some psychological horror parts. Kind of like how half-life 2 is a fps with some horror parts

Finished watching it.
A few of the meta lines and moments really tossed me out of it.
The time where Jax starred directly into the camera was annoying,
The “you’re still watching tho” sucked. Should have been “but you’re still here tho” and it wouldn’t have broken anything.
And there was one other bit.
I’m only invested in one character: ragatha.
Jax had a few funny lines but I can tell that he’ll be the first person I get bored of and want to beat with a rock.
There’s ONE scene I want to add:
At 17:00 Jax is being a jerk to a friend in need, i think when they played rock paper scissors, it should have been for seeing who gets to punch him in face. That would show at least that they don’t take his assholery at all.
I also only have one thing I want to know: who was Pomni before hand? She put on a headset, yet the tech is 1990’s.
Liked the office scene, but that’s just since I like Stanley parable.
Over all? A solid 6/10

Amd there were a few “comedy is hard” bits were they go “I hope that X isn’t happening right now” and then x is happening.
When pomni threw up and bubble was licking it up, the way cane said “why are you like this” felt so real, and hilarious 😂

Well, we got the conflict, but how is the show gonna progress?
The characters other than Pomni already accepted that they can't leave. And the only exit that Pomni found was proven to be fake.
So the motivation of the characters finding a hidden exit is gone. Most pilots give you an idea of where the show is gonna go. But this episode only leaves me more confused and I have no idea what's supposed to happen next.

Yeah like I adore Cain’s design. The way that he does the lip synch but at the same time uses the top jaw for like eyebrow movements is so inspired I absolutely adore every about him
Its aesthetic is mainly referencing very old 1990-2000 kids webgames like Pajama Sam, Toontown, Wizard 101, etc and it captures that perfectly.
I really love the pilot so much! The gag was by far my favorite when kinger was moving around really fast. Another one was with kinger's cut scream. I do wish to see more episodes from this series. Jax is hilarious as well when he just dipped and just shoved his pal on the escalator.
7:21 that part sucked. He’s cruel for zero reasons and no one calls him out for it. It’s like they don’t notice.

I mean, what if the "Ladies first" was something he genuinely was surprised to say? Maybe that's a hint at what the real him is like. Someone who cares for other's well-being. But lost his identity.

Tho, if this were a good show, then it would give him a sort of redemption. He seems like the kind to need it.
One thing I'm noticing in the reviews is that a lot of people are saying very little or not even mentioning Gooseworx! She is not only the creator, but also the director, writer, composer of the main theme and character designer, I think people should really give more praise to her creativity and talent for creating this masterpiece!
Fun Fact: TADC's Jax, the rabbit guy, is voiced by the same guy who voices the character N from Murder Drones.
The exit doors actually really reminded me of the Stanley Parable. I remember one part where you would just go endlessly through the same door only to end up in the exact same place.
I too really loved this pilot of this show! It’s filled with comedy and lore! Really hope a full season will be able to come out!
I’m very much a fan of “it’s cute but then has a scary element to it” and Digital Circus fits in really well with that. I love the aesthetic, characters, and overall premise! I can’t wait to learn more about this world!
If you liked the animation i really recommend just looking at a few of Kevin Temmers videos! he was the reason I watched the Pilot, he worked on the animation and added so much character to it! They did such a good job on this, and I can't wait for what they do next

I watched it as well and I found it amazing!!! (no pun intended) The animation quality was outstanding for the 4th show that GLITCH Productions has come out with as I can't wait till the first season has an official release date with how well the Pilot did during its first few hours when it premiered.
I loved the pilot. I was already a Glitch fan from another of their shows called Muder Drones so I also had been following the progress of this one for a while and certainly lived up to the expectations
I love how cartooney they made the animation, it's not something you usually see in 3D animation and it works so well with the characters
I like the out of context on the series. Also i watched Meta Runner back in 2019. Which was created by Glitch

I have been waiting 8 months for the pilot! For a lot of people tha show came out of no where but for dedicated fans of Kevin Temmer, Gooseworks and Glitch we all saw it coming. Im so glad it got this popular! (Im just really hoping that the fandom wont become toxic due to the amount of views 😭)

Undertale being paired with indie horror games does actually make sence. Undertale is extremely dark when you think about it, there's an entire route in which you murder every single thing in existence, and even in the true pacifist route, true lab exists, amalgamates are basically body horror.

The thing that really attracted my attention is the Keiran Battle theme from pokemon
I've been absolutely in love with this pilot recently. Now I wanna go back and watch Murder Drones. Somehow haven't heard about it until now but based on what I'm hearing/reading about it, I feel like that's something I'd be pretty interested in. I'll definitely have to check it out while I wait for the next Digital Circus episode!

I would really recommend murder drones, I watched it after I found the amazing digital circus and it blow my mind away with the animation, the story and especially the LORE!!
Actually, if you look at the description of the trailer for digital circus, you’ll see it’s actually more closely related to the point and click Sci-fi horror game: I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Which is about an AI who’s wiped out all of humanity except for 5 people and has kept them alive and tortured them. Only difference is Caine, the ringmaster, is an AI who actually has no hidden evil/sinister intentions according to the creator Gooseworx

I love the show overall. While it does have some dark moments, it's not consumed by them. It's mainly more wholesome and goofy for me which I love. A good balance.
I'd say it's strong suit besides the animation, is it's dialogue. It's strong and everyone feels "real". They don't feel one dimensional but they also aren't too complicated like a puzzle with too many pieces.
Also! The mask jumpscare bit to me seems inspired by the one episode of courage the cowardly dog where courage is opening doors and one had a claymation girl jumpscare.
Idk that's the feel I got.
And I gotta say, indie horror doesn't always have an initial kid audience, popularity dials it down for it but honestly as a 23 year old, I'm still a sucker for indie horror. Horror and regular indie projects in general.
A good story and or mystery always gets me.

The whole reason I knew about this was because one of the head animators - Kevin Temmers was working on this project and he’d hinted a bit about this, also at the same time Gooseworx’s animations started popping up and due to me absolutely loving Indie Animation I got to be one of the first to find out about it and I’m so happy that it’s blown up so well! Just hoping the fandom doesn’t become weird and toxic like some have became 😭

I originally found the show because I’ve been on Glitch’s channel for a while. Before I even knew what it was, I loved to watch SMG4. When I saw that he made a new show, specifically Murder Drones, I was piqued with interest. Ever since the first episode, I’ve still been there. I’m glad that Glitch and Smg4 are growing, and might somehow withstand Disney and Pixar! If you’ve been on either Glitch’s or SMG4’s TikTok, you should already know about what I’ll probably say next. Glitch is making another show. It’s going to be called Gaslight District, and although I don’t exactly know what it’s about, I think it’s somewhat 2D/3D. 3 active shows, all on one channel! That’s really impressive, for average standards. But back on point: The Digital Circus is overall a great show, with it’s characters, l o r e, and the plots. Although the fandom isn’t too great, the show is really awesome, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. But you should probably check out Murder Drones too, just because.

This show was just- so fun I swear
I really liked it! Way better than murder drones! My only true issue with the series is that the animation is a bit inconsistent (I’m not talking about where stuff clips and stuff like that I really enjoyed those jokes) but I think in sectent points the character don’t look fully rendered but other times it looks like Pixar level shit.

My friend got me to watch it yesterday and I enjoyed it a lot and I never like circus relat d stuff since I get creeped out really easily but it was a treat (Jax and Pomni are my favorites already)

I think it's well made, the characters look nice (Caine looks odd and Pomni is frigging cute asf) and I think it has an interesting premise but for me, the only problem is the lack of horror. And I hear it, "oh it's the pilot" and all that and I get it, but I didn't feel any horror, if anything minor creepiness but nothing really to the level of psychological horror. But I'm still interested to see what the next episode will turn out.

I’ve been watching murder drones for a while watching every short/teaser for this show was amazing and new it was going to be amazing, but I only expected this show to be popular among people who also watched murder drones but I’m really happy that this show had gotten so popular. Also pls watch murder there’s only two episodes left (of season one) but it’s really good❤

I love the balance between realism and cartooness. It also feels like this could DEFINITELY be made into the game, that would be cool.
Whether they’d show it or not, I don’t think most indie directors and indie devs would take too kindly you referring to what they produce as just “stuff catering to kids.” The type of humor and themes in indie projects usually derives from the creator’s personal taste, not some marketing ploy to get kids to watch their show.

I honestly agree with a lot of what you’ve said.
What got me with the pilot was the more existential part of this pilot. After watching it I was left with this odd kinda, emptiness’s, I yearning for answers, some kind off closure for these characters, a candle of hope that better things are ahead of them, but being a writer myself, and given hey they’ve approached a lot of the ideas and themes in the pilot, all I can see shrewd if them is red, maddening fog.
The very idea of the Digital Circus just gives me this discomfort, having dealt with some existential episodes myself, it really got those kinds feelings going.
And as for my final point: Jax is an assholes. That is all.
