Fantastic advise , I considered a 2nd engine drive and if the OT at work holds for 45 more days I get it , ( but Ill get it with cash ) When the OT gets slow I buy a extra spool of wire / or 1 small tool but I budget atleast 1 small item( 75-150$) per pay check
Awesome very informative video! I definitely see the sense behind 2 or more trucks. You can have a 2500 or bigger truck with your main equipment then pick up early 2000s 1500 for $3k and throw a generator or a small engine drive like a thermal arc scout in the back with some basic tools as a backup. I see no sense in buying a brand new $80k diesel truck and putting a $20k welder in the back when you could of built 3 different rigs for that kind of money. 2 or more cheaper rigs is better than 1 very pricey one especially with all the problems on the new diesels that spend months at a dealer getting fixed.
Thank you I'm just now getting started on my own I only have 2 pick up trucks one running and everything you're talking about right at this very moment is what's going through my mind I have a few welders several outlets to source from. I really enjoy the videos. I respect and appreciate the honesty in what you're speaking of our craft
Ultimately, you need 3 to 6 months of operating expenses in cash that is NOT HELD IN ANY BANK OR CREDIT UNION. Second, you need at least double redundancy on EVERYTHING you use that is IMPORTANT or ESSENTIAL, and quadruple redundancy IF POSSIBLE. Third, you need at least 2 to 4 months of operating expenses held in physical Gold & 1 to 2 months of operating expenses held in physical Silver, probably stored with a 3rd party like Brinks through a retailer like Miles Franklin Precious Metals. Given what is coming, this is the only way anyone is going to make it through LONG-TERM. Don't think 6 months or 1 year ahead. Start thinking 3 to 5 years ahead, at minimum.
I was just wondering when you were going to make another video. Good to see ya again. Companies are taking full advantage of inflation and price gouging their customers.
And that’s making it really difficult for me to keep my prices low. When the people above me raise their rates I have to raise mine whether I like it or not.
@@derbadortheweldor8940 Being debt free should help a lot in that area. The customer pays for materials/consumables, so labor shouldn’t really have to go up. When every idiot around you is jacking up their prices just because everyone else is, people are going to look for the most reasonably priced welder, so you will gain business and make more money than your competitors.
I definitely went up! When your hourly rate includes everything except the raw materials (steel, aluminum, bolts, etc.) that means fuel, consumables, taxes, insurance, tires, oil changes, parts and the cost of living all comes out of your hourly rate.
You just nailed it on the head my welding supply store my husband has an account with was say the same thing you are about the price of rods along with everything else and especially acetylene we switched to propane as well don't like it quite as much but it does the job and well if you know how to run it
A lot of good advice in this one. I survived the Obama recession and I think that was a tea party compared to what’s coming. While I still don’t have two trucks (wish I did), I do have a trailer that I can throw an engine drive on, a set of bottles, a couple of job boxes and pull with a rented F-150. Also, I hope to never not own two engine drives again. Gives you a lot of options.
Do you mind sharing your experience with running a inverter welder(I have an esab205) on a generator like you mentioned(pred9000)? I have been contemplating going that route instead of an engine drive for the time being. My biggest worry is the frequency not being “clean” wearing out my esab prematurely. Thx dude keep up the awesome videos!
I’ve been running a set up like that since 2016. I run a ridged 6800 running watt generator but the Amish place I do some stuff for has a guy running a Vulcan Omni pro off the predator 9k they seem to be ok with it.
And one more thing guys you're going to have to go somewhere else for equipment besides Lincoln and Miller or there sub brands we went green on our electric machines fraction of the price quality machines with same features as those big brands and way better warranty they have just plain gotten greedy Everlast prices have not changed or if they have barely
Derby, I’m glad you didn’t make this video went to some political speech. I’m glad you made this video so that people from both political parties can take what they need from it without turning this into some political show down in the comments.
Do you have a preferred “No Inert Gas” mig wire (brand / Manufacturer/ spool 🧵) you enjoy? Please don’t tell me the “HarborFreight Vulcan” or “Home Depot Forney”. I have used them and the spatter is : HORRIBLE.
I'm gonna be honest I'm a heavy truck mechanic I've been actually staying fairly busy cause of the fact nobody wants to work anymore an

🚨 A note on security 🚨 would be a firearm on your person, Simply Safe alarm with cameras on your shop and GPS on all your equipment. 👊

@@randomschittz9461 labor has to go up just for him to live. Price of groceries go up he has to charge more for labor....
I’ve struck a balance somewhere in the middle. I went up yes but not as much as some other people.

Great video 👍
I listen to somebody change my life 15 years ago . I’m totally debt-free . Of everything . Just regular bills . Dave Ramsey .
I love Dave Ramsey he’s awesome
probably going to be some cheap good used stuff pretty soon when people just flat run out of money.
Dude your crazy ,I got one custom rig works everyday, got close to what you said

One is master of what we own and slave of debt.
Debt itself is not Bad it is the 'Interest that we pay on the Debt''
It will only get worse
Keep your overhead down that's the only way I mean way down
