Anyway...you are spot on about marketing art online.... we have a 3 year old Etsy store where we sell our downloadable sublimation designs... multiple 7 figures in 3 years isn't bad! No paid ads or promos of any sort either. (and no, we don't have a course to sell....just sayin'....been following Steve for a couple of years now...hoovering up all his free stuff, which, IMHO, is better than most paid courses!) (Can't comment on his paid courses, as I have never purchased....his free stuff kept me busy!)
For starting out beginners...in selling art !! What kind of art sell best on what website? I am an epileptic patient and a graphic designer , self taught, photoshop illustrator user and photography enthusiast.
Thank you for the information. I will start submitting it seems that I am wasting time creating reels on Facebook no comments and Instagram has been a waste of my time. Ill invest a few days submitting my paintings on the multiple platforms you indicated. Thank you for being generous to all artist that would like to succeed and sell their art. Bless you and your family!
Excellent overview! Thank you! Do wish there was info somewhere on downsides for each venue, satisfaction reviews by artists, etc. But for those just beginning research like me, this list is a fantastic start. Again.....THANK YOU!
Why wonder? 😂 Just try to market yourself and sell. It’s not something anyone knows before they try. Nobody can help you, but YOU. Do your work and TRY, don’t be so lazy.
Ninhao, please kindly advice which platform is good for Artist +designer can start immidiately easy to sell Arts oil paintings, marker pen illuatration, pencil color on paper. please kindly advice. Thanks Akram
This is one of the most informative videos of this kind I've seen, so thanks. One big complaint, you really sugar-coat the gouging from many of these. For example FineArtAmerica-you get to keep the proceeds, minus the wholesale cost' is a pretty nice way of saying 'you get 30%, they take a 70% commission. Your wording seems very deceptive and it doesn't have to be.
Create art, place on one of those platforms, then you need to advertise. Most people fail at advertisement: they assume that customers will magically browse and find your stuff 😂 No. It’s YOUR job to place your art page on those platforms in front of your customer. You will need to pay for ads, basically! Unless you have huge social media following to advertise for free to (only tiny fraction of 1% will buy, so you need hundreds of thousands of followers on social. This way you don’t have to pay for ads. Running a business is no joke, it’s not for some “Karens”.
Most of art selling platforms are 💩, because you still need to find customers and lead them into your products. Customer won’t be browsing and finding you, obviously. It’s your work to pay for advertising or build huge social media following organically for free. So, are you famous or rich? You need at least one one of those marketing pathways to advertise. No marketing- no sales.
Terrible… I decided to go with my own Shopify site and fully control customer database. Also, fees are so much smaller than unfair Fine Art America who takes 70% 😂 and I only keep 30% 😳 Nope, thanks.
Thanks for the info, have you tried U gallery? I'm just wondering what artist accepts a 50% handover and what are they getting for it that other sites don't offer.
