Don did really well. Fear and Pain can get any of us to react in a way that seems aggressive. Don is a good boy... and very clever the way he crossed his paws! what a beauty
You're almost at 1 million subscribers for your second channel (998K followers as of this comment), so congratulations! Well deserved. These longer format videos are great.
I had an underweight female cocker spaniel, she was naturally that size. To start with the vets made a huge fuss, like this dog she had access to food all day, was fed boiled chicken (we even fed her fresh farm tripe to try and get her to gain weight) eventually the vets understood it was just her. She was healthy, active and beautiful. So this could be normal for this dog, there's an average breed weight, to get an average there will be dogs over and under that!
Also, mixes like this can't be held to a perfect standard. We can go by sight and feel but sometimes they just stick to 10% over or under no matter what we do... My current mix always seems just a little over weight but after a few vet trips they figure it might just be normal for him, we don't have a lot of terrier/lab/pug mixes to compare him to and he's fairly active for his age. My last purebred was always a little under weight, and he ate everything! He was checked for worms and all the normal suspects, but it turned out he had the doggy equivalent of ADHD and the little dude would wiggle even in his sleep! He just never sat still for long enough to put on weight, and he ate an incredibly calorie dense diet his whole life.
My 8 year old Australian Shepherd has always been super fussy and unpredictable about ANY food or treats. There are times when he chooses to not eat for several days in a row, just because he isn’t hungry. According to his breeders, this is a trait passed down through at least 5 generations in his family lines. The ones who are weird about food, are the ones who turn out to be the hardest working and most biddable competition partners - and the ones who are always hungry, don’t have the stamina or attention span to succeed.
My cat is the same. She has has access to dry food all day and I sometimes give her wet food and treats too. But she's so skinny you can feel her hip bones and spine when you pet her. She's perfectly healthy, just a very skinny cat.
He seems to be a Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix. He could have hip dysplasia or early signs of arthritis (he would be considered a senior dog). I'm sure his owners are doing what they have to to make sure he's healthy.
thank you for sharing!! i hope this advice reaches the top, i want it to reach the owners so bad (tho im sure their vet will prob just tell them the same)
I was thinking that he might have slipped and injured the one leg. A good hip twist can be quite painful when the leg is manipulated and does not necessarily affect his gate enough to notice. I don't know if it's the angle of the camera, but it almost looks like he is holding his right rear leg a little off.
Vanessa, you are so accommodating to your animal clients! I have much respect for how intelligently and sympathetically you treat each one. You can't let your guard down for a second, can you?! This guy needed a lot of creativity on your part, and you did what worked for him. Thank you! WOOF! 🤠🐶💞
He looks so scared (his tail between his legs) But his owners made the best decision to bring this sweetheart to you. I had to laugh at his crossed legs, hahaha. But my heart broke when, at the beginning of his blow-dry, he wanted to melt into the table, so much fear.... But I think, once home, he will have realized how nice it is now on his blankey without those enormous tangles. He was so matted Great Job Vanessa! ❤❤
And these pets recognize that. They _know_ when they're being worked on by someone that genuinely cares. Especially dogs, who are pretty good at picking up human emotion since we radiate our intentions in multiple ways they're attuned to and have senses to detect, e.g., pheromones/scent. (Our smell literally changes when we're upset, aggressive, nervous, etc. as we do "leak" some of our "emotion" hormones through sweat and skin oil.)
Also, the GOOD treats. Owners at my store are often baffled that their dog behaves so well for me, until I tell them that they know I have the special snacks in my pocket. This good behaviour is 100% mercenary.
O-M-G!!!!! This dog is a DANCER!!! His criss-crossing of his front paws as you tried to clip his nails was GENIUS - for the dog! 😬 YOU, however, were as stalwart as EVER!🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊
Vanessa, I don't care about any negative comments....You do such a PHENOMENAL JOB with your animals!!! You have a way to calm them, you are the "groomer whisperer" Your videos relax me and give me peace because you are so very kind to all those that you groom. Your tireless effort is such devotion to the wellness of your animals. THANK YOU for sharing your videos!!! They are Wonderful!!!❤
I just have to say that I am in awe of how you are so patient and kind with your animal clients. You notice all the little things, while still trying to get the stuff done that needs to be done, even if you have to be gentle, or slow about it. This is why I watch your videos.
Poor Don he just doesn’t look like he feels good. I’m glad the owners are taking him to the vet. I know they care about him, owners that don’t care do not take their puppies to the groomers. The best thing about groomers they may sot signs that owners may have missed. Don is lucky to have owners that care. 💕🇨🇦
I truly enjoy your humor and candor in all your videos. People can comment & criticize all they want, but I'd like to see them do what you do with your kindness and expertise. I appreciate you and all you do.
My Grandma's dog got just like this suddenly when people touched her back leg. She ended up sadly having a tumor. I hope the owners find out what is going on quickly.
He seems like a very sweet but nervous dog. My 15 y.o. toy poodle is having the same issue regarding her feet due to arthritis. Seven is on the older side for a big dog, so he may be having the same problem. I gave mine pain meds the last time she got groomed, and it was a much better experience for everyone.
Aww. Thank you for sticking with him! He was so nervous the whole way through, but he looks so much better and I'm sure he appreciated having all his extra coat taken care of.
He did well considering how nervous he was, you do such a good job with him Vanessa. I hope his owners get to the bottom of why he’s not eating. Get well soon Don ❤
Poor guy, I bet he feels better after a good grooming. I admire the time and love you're able to give to the difficult pets. I hope the owners and the vets are able to work together to get him in better condition. I also had a tough keeper for many years, I know it can be struggle and I have no doubts that he is loved very much.
amazing video as always, but this is a pupper i'd love updates on. like, him coming back when the owners figured out what's with his back leg/s and he's much happier, this sort of thing. still, he was a trouper
Thank you, Vanessa. Don’t take the criticism personally. Unfortunately there are people in the world who are so unhappy with themselves that they have to put others down, just to make themselves feel better for a minute or two. You, Vanessa, are the best!!
Vanessa you are a sweetheart, and I never would assume that you don't report any concerns to pet parents! ❤ our late elderly cat was as skinny as a rake due to a thyroid condition and we did everything to make her gain weight, but she still only weighed a couple of KGs, she was happy and healthy aside from that, but weightloss can be due to any number of things. All the armchair vets are assuming that no one is looking into this. Sometimes it takes a new set of eyes (in this case Vanessa) to see declines, when the pet parent sees them every day.
Wow, what a dramatic difference. Dawn is so white and fluffy after your two hours of very hard work. Thank you so much for taking the time and patience to make this pup look great again. For the record, I have a Husky that has been losing weight (she is 14 years old). I have been taking her to the Vet and to a Vet Internist trying to find the cause(s) of her weight loss and neither of them have a clue why she is losing so much weight. Sometimes things are just out of our control and even the best Vet can't figure it out. I have had humans in my life that had strange things happen to them that their Docs can't figure out either. It just happens. Much love to the owners and I hope someone helps them figure out what is going on with this beautiful dog.
Dear Vanessa, Your channel is my absolute favorite on here. You are amazing, and I watch your videos on both accounts religiously. And usually always before I go to bed, or while enjoying a meal. I have gotten so many of my friends to do the same. All I want to tell you here is that you are, besides hilarious and sarcastic, such an amazing soul. Your positive energy radiates through the screen. 🙏🏽 From all the way from Sweden, please never stop being who you are. I wish you abundance in everything beautiful and positive life has to offer. With tons of love and support, and all the way from south Sweden 🇸🇪, - Vision ♥️
He's so beautiful. I had one just like him, her hair was non stop shedding, we brushed her constantly and never ended the shedding. I didn't have a high velocity dryer, that would have been a god send, but she was such a precious girl. I lost her to cancer 19 years ago. Losing her left a hole in my heart for sure.❤❤❤
Our golden retriever is 12.5 and she is so skinny. She eats like a horse and gets 6 (yes, six) cups of Royal Canin Golden Retriever food every day. She gets scrambled eggs, peanut butter treats I make her, beef patties, and lots of veggies. She’s always been on the smaller side but in the last six months she has just shrunk so much. All her blood work is good. We just found a lump on the top of her tail the vet said was cancer. She’s our baby girl and my heart is just breaking.
@@milly7787 Cancer does not show on blood work. We thought our cat needed his teeth cleaned so we did the pre op blood work which was great. Sadly he had cancer and died only a few weeks later.
Beautiful dog. Hoping the vet will be able to shed light for the owners on what could be going on with their precious ball of fur. Thanks Vanessa for doing this.
Do Pyrenees have hip dysplasia problems? If the poor guy's in pain back there, it could explain a lot... Thank you, Vanessa, for being so patient with the fellow!
He seems pretty helpful in the bath. When she started spraying him, he gave her his backside, then he turned to different sides for her, as if saying, "Get this spot, now this, now here,......"
He did great. He tolerated having his back end worked on really well. I love when you can see the brush strokes in the fur sort of like vacuum lines on carpet. Good job buddy!
He's such a darling, sweet, crazy-intelligent pup. Thank you for always taking your time with them and constantly watching for telltale signs of distress like the blue tongue (how weird, though; stress maybe?). I think he stayed as calm as he was because of your demeanor.
Vanessa, you're a hero for taking on so many different breeds and various personalities!! Don't let the naysayers get to you!! Watching you discuss shaving vs brushing out the mats shows how much you keep your "client's" well-being in mind through the whole process. Bravo!!
Watching this, it certainly feels like he doesn't want to launch at the groomer - he seems like an incredibly sweet dog and like he is doing his best to be tolerant given the circumstances. Vanessa's calm and kind approach is definitely helping him a lot. He doesn't seem like he has a mean bone in his body - he is just terrified and/or in pain, which I think we can all empathize with. I definitely think he deserves a thousand good boys and some long pets from his owner after this C: I'm glad Vanessa was able to give the owners a heads up. Sometimes, when you observe a dog in a different situation than normal (like grooming them vs petting them), you may pick up on things which you wouldn't normally. I hope the vet lets the family know that this sweet boy is healthy and they have many good years together
I must commend you Vanessa! I love how you are so careful and attentive with these furballs. Don crossing his legs was out of this world. He is too smart! Vanessa you are amazing! Don was a hoot!
I am so amazed at your patience and bravery. I have learned so much from you that helps me better care for my maltipoo. Thank you so very much for sharing, you're an amazing person and fantastic groomer.
I hope his vet figures out what's going on and can help him. It almost looked like it was the right side of his lower gut area that bothered him more than his back end, he might not be eating because it causes tummy pain. He did so good because you are a wonderful person V! 😊
My last pup was a Pyrenees/hound mix. Very nervous. I ended up mixing his dry food with cooked meat of some kind. He was a rescue and very underweight when I got him as a foster. I foster failed. Then I became seriously ill and had to rehome him. The family that adopted him was awesome. His dad was a critical care nurse. As I was, until I retired. So I guess it was meant to be. But I still miss him. To the owners…don’t let the negative people here get to you. They don’t know your situation or the dog’s situation. Hoping for the best for both of you.
Hi Vanessa, you did an amazing job with Don, a beautiful white fluffy pooch. I love how caring and gentle you are, it feels like you talking in such a calming voice to the animals or to viewers it seems to calmed the more nervous cats & dogs as you care and groom them. Thank you to the owners for letting your video this lovely dog 🐝💐🐝
this dog IS thin, and is having some kind of mental problems.. Im not a vet, but I can for sure tell you that the last place I would take my dog to, if he was in this condition would be a groomer. And If I did do it, the groomer would know for sure what the vet had said. And thats not only for the safety of the dog, but also the groomer. If a dog maybe has some problems with the kidney or with the heart, and he or she cuts the dog´s skin, it can easly become very dangerous.
@@jydeindendo you hear yourself? so a dog with a medical condition shouldn’t get groomed? it’s not like being dirty and matted would make things worse, right? you don’t need to tell us you’re not a vet, we know from your opinion. he is thin, not dying, and even if he was a groom would make him feel better. also Vanessa specialises in difficult dogs, whether it’d be because of health conditions or their behaviour, so yes i do think she knows more about how to take care of these dogs than you do. she was safe, the dog was safe, and as you can see, it went very well. she has done much more challenging grooms successfully before.
I really enjoy this second channel because we get to see you work with the animals and how they react to stressors/how they can get past their fears. The owners raised a good boy who gets stressed but seems like he can handle a good groom as long as its done gently like this one
Watching his nervousness and his progress as you worked with him, makes me feel like maybe last time wasn't the only grooming session that had upset him, and maybe it was just the camel's straw. Your calm, unhurried skill helped him to cope and he could feel the comfort even through his anxiety. As you've often told us the mats could have been creating or worsening pain in his right rear leg. To my eyes he pretty much trusted you with that limb by the end of the groom. You were helping it feel better and he knew that. Overall he had such a handsome friendly face. Even when he got a little reactive he was more telling you off, than going into aggression. Congratulations again in bringing the best out of him. Fellow viewers: I think Dawn reminds us that even if you cannot manage a deep groom yourself it is important to get your pets familiar with being handled all over, and with brushes, clippers, etc. Even if you can only pretend to use them it will help your furry friend cope with a pro groom. ❤ PS: Don't do anything painful as that will condition them to hate grooming.
Poor guy, it really stinks when dogs get anxious at the groomer, since its so important for many breeds. I hope Don and his owners figure out the best food for him and hopefully no health issues come up ❤️
He did really good for being so scared. I have a GP mix too and she also tends to leave her food untouched. I already mix the flavors of dry food but I have to mix wet food in and water to make a gravy a few times a week to be sure she is eating.
The paw cross was EPIC! Sorry lady, you can’t cut whatcha can’t touch! It’s the best “I don’t want this done” maneuver I’ve seen! 🤣🤣 he looked lovely and fluffy at the end. Saw your comment about the blue tongue- I wondered too, nothing I’ve ever seen happen. It’s just AMAZING the way you constantly keep in physical contact with the dog to let him know you’re a good hooman here to take care of him, and that you watch for any signs of distress. Even when it’s loud your voice helps soothe them and reassure. This is why you’re just so damn good at what you do! ❤
You were so kind and gentle with him. Really a pleasure to watch you reassure him that you were not going to hurt him! He picked up on your kind manner ! Loved watching this ! GREAT JOB! 😊

He did okay for as terrified as he was. The leg crossing cracked me up
I am so glad you were able to help him, Vanessa!!! You are the BEST!!!
You're almost at 1 million subscribers for your second channel (998K followers as of this comment), so congratulations! Well deserved. These longer format videos are great.
I love the longer videos as well!!!
Agree! ❤
She’s there🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
A very beautiful dog. Having owned many dogs with various issues, you can see he is well loved. Be kind.
Yes. We had one dog who was Diabetic and did go blind. We were here "Seeing Eye People"!
I swear he's saying "uh, excuse me hooman, no touchy that or that or THAT". Nicely done reassuring him and praising him.
@@tenshikaren terrier/lab/pug is a wild mix! Which traits did they get?
@@tenshikarenman, I wish I could see a picture of your dog! I would love to know what your mix looks like!!
Yeah, one of my dogs is on gabapentin. If she gets it, she's frisky. If we miss a dose, I can tell she's hurting on even a few stair steps.
I was thinking Golden, too!
You made him look stunning. Your patience and skill are remarkable!
You made him visibly realize the fact that he was maybe going to be okay after all! Well done, this was a pretty process to watch.
He was so matted
Great Job Vanessa! ❤❤
You have a soft touch and calming presence.
With his leg crossing game on point like that, he'd be great at Twister!😂❤
😂❤
The crossing of the legs was hilarious 😂😂😂😂. Smart puppers ❤
Vanessa always thinks of the animal's wellbeing, and is so kind and thoughtful in her grooming. ❤
He did very well for a very nervous dog. You are so patient and kind! He is beautiful!
Aww. Thank you for sticking with him! He was so nervous the whole way through, but he looks so much better and I'm sure he appreciated having all his extra coat taken care of.
Whata beautiful groom. Vanessa, your patience and understanding of your " Clients" is Spectacular. Thank you. 💙🌻💙
This fur ball is gorgeous. That was funny when the pooch crossed his legs. Also, I love how patient and calming you are with him. Great video
You did an amazing job Vanessa! I think he could feel your sensitivity and respectful treatment of his sensitive areas.
'same here "❤❤
2:20 his face is so adorable 🥰
😍😍
amazing video as always, but this is a pupper i'd love updates on. like, him coming back when the owners figured out what's with his back leg/s and he's much happier, this sort of thing. still, he was a trouper
Girl, I appreciate you, so much, for your HEART AND INTRINSIC UNDERSTANDING of each soul. Thank you....for what you do.
Thank you, Vanessa. Don’t take the criticism personally. Unfortunately there are people in the world who are so unhappy with themselves that they have to put others down, just to make themselves feel better for a minute or two. You, Vanessa, are the best!!
I hope they find an easily treatable reason for his low weight. He’s gorgeous. As always, excellent job Vanessa. ❤
He's such a cute dog. Thanks for helping him. I love how you work with the animals you groom according their medical conditions and behavior issues.
This Dawn enjoyed watching Don. Especially the leg crossing!
Dear Vanessa,
Your channel is my absolute favorite on here.
From all the way from Sweden, please never stop being who you are.
I wish you abundance in everything beautiful and positive life has to offer.
With tons of love and support,
and all the way from south Sweden 🇸🇪,
- Vision ♥️
I like the way you protect the camera with your body when the shake comes 🙂
Im so sorry. I cant imagine how difficult this is for you guys. I hope you guys are able to operate to save her 🙏🙏
I'm sorry to hear. I hope it's treatable and that you can afford treatment. Wishing you all the best!
But it's curious that her blood work is all good! Many times, cancer shows up on bloodwork, no? (no hate or doubt, just honestly wondering)
@@milly7787 Cancer does not show on blood work. We thought our cat needed his teeth cleaned so we did the pre op blood work which was great. Sadly he had cancer and died only a few weeks later.
I think your gentleness and constant calm talk really helped relax this beautiful dog. Good job!
Beautiful dog. Hoping the vet will be able to shed light for the owners on what could be going on with their precious ball of fur. Thanks Vanessa for doing this.
Thanks!
Donald is sweet, love the way he crisscrossed his feet. You did a fantastic job on him ❤
I think his name is Dawn. Kind of sounds like Don.
Do Pyrenees have hip dysplasia problems? If the poor guy's in pain back there, it could explain a lot... Thank you, Vanessa, for being so patient with the fellow!
Apparently, yes, it is common.
@@allein1001 I looked THAT up, as well. Larger Breeds do. But, I am only familiar because of one of our previous dogs.
Bless him, he's not at all well, is he? I'm glad his owners are investigating whatever is causing his problems.
Thanks for being so kind. He was very good through it all.
I definitely think he deserves a thousand good boys and some long pets from his owner after this C:
I'm glad Vanessa was able to give the owners a heads up. Sometimes, when you observe a dog in a different situation than normal (like grooming them vs petting them), you may pick up on things which you wouldn't normally. I hope the vet lets the family know that this sweet boy is healthy and they have many good years together
You did a great job there Vanessa, at the end you could barely see where the mats had been shaved out of his rear.
I must commend you Vanessa! I love how you are so careful and attentive with these furballs. Don crossing his legs was out of this world. He is too smart! Vanessa you are amazing! Don was a hoot!
You are so amazing and gentle with him. You have a great eye for his fear and stress. Thank you for sharing.
Lovely dog. I bet he feels so much better clean, mats removed, and nails cut. Thank you for sharing Vanessa.
You are being so kind with this pup & he really appreciates it❤! He was hurt at some point, but you're showing him it's not always that way!🤗
You have the intuitive caring touch.
I hope he’s ok! Sending hugs to him and his family x
Y’all get so brave on your keyboards
this dog IS thin, and is having some kind of mental problems..
"Keyboard Warriers"!
"Brave" is a far kinder term than i would have used. Lol.
@@jydeinden"I'm not a vet" then your opinion on this dogs health doesn't matter.
I really enjoy this second channel because we get to see you work with the animals and how they react to stressors/how they can get past their fears. The owners raised a good boy who gets stressed but seems like he can handle a good groom as long as its done gently like this one
I love how sweet and patient you were with this dog. Wish I lived closer I would love to have you as my dog groomer.
You did a great job! … I bet he feels so much better .. 🐾♥️
Poor guy, it really stinks when dogs get anxious at the groomer, since its so important for many breeds. I hope Don and his owners figure out the best food for him and hopefully no health issues come up ❤️
You are a miracle worker. Such a beautiful and smart doggo. Hopefully the owners will take him to the vet soon to deal with his weight issue.
Folks are reactive because they are on the internet... great job i use a lot of your technics when I groom my own dogs l!! You Rock!!
Thank you for taking care of this beautiful dog. Thank you again.
He did really good for being so scared. I have a GP mix too and she also tends to leave her food untouched. I already mix the flavors of dry food but I have to mix wet food in and water to make a gravy a few times a week to be sure she is eating.
Your compassion in handling your grooms are outstanding. 💙
My cat died this weekend. I am so torn. This dog was not that difficult. He is a big sweetie. ❤😊
So sorry for your loss xxx
Any owner who goes to the trouble of getting a groom with Vanessa cares deeply about their dog or cat.
...or they just want a free groom and their 15 minutes of online fame. Especially the ones that don't actually need grooming in the first place.
You are so calm and that helps nervous dogs,
Just know you are awesome😎💕
Wow! The end result is wonderful! So beautiful!
You were so kind and gentle with him. Really a pleasure to watch you reassure him that you were not going to hurt him! He picked up on your kind manner ! Loved watching this ! GREAT JOB! 😊
Beautiful job and beautiful dog. Owners need to ignore the trolls on here! Your guys stop that, it’s why we can’t have nice things on UA-cam!!!!
Lol. The crossing of the paws was brilliant. What a pretty, smart dog!
These beautiful dogs seem to be prone to hip problems, I have a 4 yr old 130lbs girl who is the same. I have her on joint supplements to try and help and some rx Anti flamatories to help her when it gets really bad. These dogs are huge and it makes sense they would have joint issuse.he is such a beautiful boy and you are truly wonderful with all the furr baby's who come to you!
I love how you are so kind and gentle, but firm and brave! Thank you for the awesome content!
He did great! With your patience and care all was well and he looked great
