I really appreciate the group reviews. They create very interesting thoughts that solo videos just can’t inspire. Great use of the DT team, I hope this approach will raise your views!
It would have been cool to see more of the different hero and demon since its one of the main cool thing of the game. I disagree with Tom about the minis, I think its cool to see these type of game not throwing unnecessary plastic : cut down the cost, better for the environment and looks good
The different perspectives definitely came through on this review (even though the scores were very close). Tom and Mike: "...a little chaos..." Roy: "...very deterministic..." I don't really see this game being "deterministic," but I guess it depends on what you're used to.
I just got this and dove right into the campaign mode. I'm really interested in Mike's thoughts on it when he gets a chance to play it. I really enjoy it a lot. It feels like Sleeping Gods in regards to exploration just much smaller.
Just curious as the group keeps referring to it as 2v2; per the rules it can be played 3v3 any thoughts on that? Right now the only game in my collection that does 3v3 is Guards of Atlantis 2 (which is excellent fwiw) and I'd love to have another :)
I preordered this as soon as I could and I have to say, it's unfortunate that they went with a tactical arena battler game. This genre is so crowded and frankly there are just many more interesting games. There are a few interesting things going on here, but as much as they lauded the asymmetry of the game, the factions are basically the same (they both have one special and one innate ability, they both get minions for board control). I just wasn't immediately pulled in after playing a few games and it probably won't see much table time for me. I think there was an idea that someone had with mechanics that probably didn't make it into other games so this one was created, at least thats kind of what it feels like to me. The game is fine (despite a couple pretty glaring rules issues which prompted a revised PDF rulebook) but not amazing.
Game sounds a bit like the video game Into the Breach- though, that doesn't have minions I suppose. It's game where you use your guys to protect something else and generally win by surviving for enough turns.
tbh I think he just meant that these kinds of games are usually dice chuckers and in this one the cards you play will always do their effects with no randomness.
Maybe he's thinking in the sense that, once you get your hand of cards, it's fairly obvious what you are going to do with them. Of course, he does point out the choices provided by the multi-use cards, so I don't know. I second the previous commenter who pointed out that Roy may be mentally comparing this to a dice game, yet the randomness of the card draw is there, so...
We have no specific plans for Spiel. We generally don’t exhibit there ourselves, although our games are sometimes available there from our international partners. It’s a bit early in this game’s life span for any international editions to be far enough along to show at conventions. This game has a storybook, so translation will likely take some time.

thank you for the honest and truthful feedback; honesty in game reviews is really important.

It's very easy to forget, since so many games get released these days. But my favorite game of this kind? Wildlands! I absolutely love it.
So did Mike ever do that solo/campaign review?

Great review!
Thanks a lot... I was expeting another type of game but still seems interesting
I hope to see the 4 square reviews as well as these.

What is Roy's shirt?
Chick fil-a? Lol
It’s a a Naruto hoody
If you want to play a good 2v2 game, try 'The defence of Procyon III' from David Turczi. It is quite crunchy, also highly assimetric.
Wow what a cool looking game. Seems a bit heavy for what I'd be looking for but absolutely fascinating design.
I don't think Roy understands what deterministic means.

I don’t think he’s speaking philosophically, I think it’s just shorthand for ‘no randomness’
The gameplay kind of makes me think of a team-based Wildlands.
Looking forward to the European release of Knighr fall, hope it's available at Spiel

@@christianmueller4557 Thanks for the reply. English edition will do fine in Europe! If the game is good enough translations will follow.
Hokage dattebayo
...so...random anime reference?
Domo arigato...I guess.
