I saw England v Wales at Twickenham, 1972 I think. Barry John was fly-half. John Bevan had the ball and I remember him doing a terrific hand off on Jeremy Janion, his English opposite number, who was a much bigger man.
Essentially the Barbarians side that day were a British and Irish Lions XV and the majority of them were part of the only successful Lions tour to New Zealand so far. Brilliant game.
the likes of Mervyn Davies and Gerald Davies not playing, and with uncapped players in Wilkinson and David. Far too good for NZ anyway and with the match effectively won by half time
Lucky to be taught Rugby at High School by John Bevan, I also thing he taught RE?
SO STRONG THIS FELLA
Brillaint
A Game played by men Not Like the boring stuff played by today they have No Idea Nowa dass boring stuff played by Models 😫

The old Arms Park had a great atmosphere
I was there, bach. In the North Stand.

Also the foundation of the Lions that went to SA in 1974 and won so convincingly
Yes and the genius Caerwyn James was smuggled into the dressing room beforehand. Make no mistake this was a Lions Test match.
Exceptional finish, very powerful.
great rugby league winger also.
What’s cool is that he teaches in my school

My rugby master at school (Monkton House) in Cardiff was Barry John. So there...
