@@ryanschneider6968 did he say at any point in the vid, heaviest natural bench press? no he didn't so stfu, absolute clown
@@ryanschneider6968obviously?
Fizzy you got this dumbass youtuber saying and making people think these guys actually lift this crazy weight with no gear 😂😂😂
Mendy was 317 when he pressed 715 and about 301 when he pressed 701 in October of 2002 in California. He also pressed 713 before he presses 715 but there is no footage of this. James Henderson pressed 705 on a world IPF meet and then 711 in a USPF meet a year or two later in Philadelphia which is an IPF-affiliate.
And now BigBaker/Gym reaper now joined the 700 pound bench press club!, he’s 100% going to have a max of 710-730+ bench by the end of 2024, hell probably reach 750+

Julius is amazing! He also has a very inspirational life story. My max bench is 309 pounds (140kg). I weigh around 170 pounds, fully natty, and hit it last year at age 50. Still going up!
At what age did you start lifting?
@@garagegymbros2198 Senior year In college, so around 21.

@@DANA-lx8cv impressed your bench is still improving
You forgot Big Jim Williams - he went over 700 on numerous occasions in the early 70s and eventually benched 720 in training, raw. He also had a 900 lb squat with ace bandage wraps and an 860 raw deadlift.
My favorite athlete of all time. I'm from the same city as he was, met him on a few occasions, officially 675 raw bench, however there are stories of him getting 700+ decades ahead of all of these guys. This may be my favorite subject of all time as well. Great content. Proud to say in 2005 I got 465 @ 220 body weight, raw.
If there's no proof, it doesn't count.
@@ytsux9259 In "Powerlifting's Greatest Bench Presser" there's a picture of his 700 bench in front of witnesses, as well as his 900 lb squat.
@@paulduffy2524 The man was a generational talent, that's for sure. It's a travesty he never got the recognition he deserved. And I guess you don't need to hear it from me, but 465 at 220 is a very impressive bench in its own right; my best is 410 at 235. Hope to hit 455 one day - I like the way those 25s look on the end of the stack of 45s.
James Henderson bench press 705 as well raw at the uspf Nationals
Boy it's great to see a notification from you!
You forgot former NFL pro baller, Larry Allen's. He bench 700lbs taped in front of his reammates. Also, the legendary Ted Arcidi, he also bfnchef 700lbs.
Larry alen was a a cowboy facility not official
Right, well the Larry Allen bench was a bounced rep with three spotters touching the bar the entire time. Obviously he’s extremely strong, but he couldn’t have done what he did in a powerlifting meet. If he dedicated his life to powerlifting instead of football, he may well have benched 700 officially. No doubt
As for Arcidi, he’s from Buffalo so of course I like the guy, but that was in a bench shirt
I asked about Ted Arcidi, I always heard that he benched over 700; it may have only been in the gym tho
Ted Arcidi definitely was the first Man to hit it officially, my Big Homie James Hollywood Henderson did it next , but Larry Allen and Big John Studd, should definitely be included. I thought Bill Kazimier would be the first, he was Strong in the 80's.
@@henrysloan8681Kaz was the first to bench 300kg which is about 660

@Wishmaster787 tho, you have 0 lifting videos. Behave dude... and go train some more
Get that 315 and you a god bro, 3 plate bench always impressive at 165
You forgot about Ted Arcidi:
Ted Arcidi bench pressed 705.5 pounds (320 kg) on March 3, 1985 at Gus Rethwisch's Budweiser World Record Breakers in Honolulu, Hawaii for an APF & USPF world record, to become the first man to bench 700 pounds in an officially recognized powerlifting competition.
That was in a single ply shirt though. Absolutely made history and he deserves his status in the game. It just didn't fit the criteria of this particular video which was focused on raw lifts.
@NickWright daniel zamani deserved a mention being hes the first human to lift over 800. Official or not
He had a bench shirt on when he got 705 in Hawaii.
@@GHENGISxHOF I did a video on him, here: ua-cam.com/video/gZHCy1yuygs/v-deo.html
@NickWright thx , just watched it. Makes sense
Great video on the best benchers the world has ever seen. My first time watching your channel. As an equipped guy, thank you for giving the proper respect and description to equipped without bashing it. Much appreciated.
Thank you brother for that. We followed Julius on his road to 800 bench. He had reached a body weight of 450lbs
How could you forget Ted Arcidi the first man to break 700 with a 705 bench.
Ted had the record of over 700 for a long time.
Arcidi was wearing an early prototype bench shirt. Minimal support, but not raw.
Or ken lain
My best comp bench is 419 at 250
But i plan on benching 435-441 at 242 in February and planning on doing a double with 400lbs next month
What is your training schedule like?
I plan on 800 one day
In the 90s I had a 495 bench at 188 pounds and 6 feet tall. That was two heart surgeries ago. I'm in my 50s now and I'm starting to get a little of that mojo back 😊
Great video! Very concise and the passion you have for the sport really shows in your voice and the way you talk about it as a whole.
Your passion in this video is clearly felt, just subbed brother!
Equipped lifting is pure nonsense. May as well use spotters to help you. It’s no different.
Good to see another upload Nick!
Thankyou so much for clearing up the raw and Assist suits for bench pressing, I have been confused about for awhile.
Great to see you back! Really enjoyed this video and the buildup!
My max bench is 295. But I am 73 and have only been lifting for 8 years, My goal is 315.
That's some real strength. I'm 18 and just benched 205lbs yesterday at 165lbs bodyweight and am trying to get to 225

Kudos to you, Sir.

Julius is no1. Everyone knows this. Equipped benches aren't taken seriously but are still impressive.
I was going to say "Ted Arcidi bench pressed 705.5lbs in 1985." But I looked it up so I could back up my post. I remembered that Ted's bench was considered an equipped-bench.
This was an extremely well presented video! Great work.
Can we take a sec to appreciate just how fast and easy that 711 by James Henderson looked all the way back in 97!!!!!! Dude def looked like he had more in him that day
There is no video footage of the 711. The video clip shown here is just an exhibition touch&go lift in a christian evangelisation event. Not a meet lift!
Equipped lifting is cheating. I'll never think otherwise. I'll take my raw 315 pound bench press PR over an equipped 405.
It's not cheating because it's not against any rules. It's just a different form of sport.
How could it be cheating exactly?
@@ediot6969 Because it's using elastic power to do part of the lifting, rather than muscle power. Is it that hard to figure out?
100% in agreement and honestly I could give a shit about equipped records, I can set an equipped record for my weight literally rn and I wouldn’t be impressed with myself in the slightest
I don’t think it’s cheating because it’s something entirely different other than the general movement. Takes an insane amount of work to master equipped lifting just like it does for raw lifting
Very cool video you put forth here. Informative, entertaining, the works. Well done!
That's a really informative and clear video, great work👏
Larry Allen, former NFL player bench 705 NFL record, I believe
I ran a mile in 2 minutes on a bike...
Great vid bro! Much respect for all these Monstas!
Fantastic video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 answered so many questions of mine
I used to be a competitive bench press through NASA and USPF. And like everyone else competing I had a single ply bench shirt. Like your friend I couldn't touch my chest without 405 on the bar. I broke several state, national and world records. In a single ply, I did this as a teenager and before I got sick and had to quit I did a 525 in a local meet. At the time my raw bench was 495. So the bench shirt does help but it depends on how the shirt fits you. I only ever used an Inzer advance designs single ply personally. I did that at a body weight of 187 lbs.
I love this because Julius Maddox is the goat of benching he like you said is beyond any human to ever step foot on this planet and he’s such a humble dude he deserves all the credit
He's not beyond any human to ever step on this planet. Sampson is the strongest man to ever live. Julius is strong in the bench press, but could never compete in the world's strongest man competition, those men are much stronger.
@@TheHitman-Those men are not stronger. Lol! They're more rounded in other areas but not stronger. Stop being a casual and step in a gym already.

Keep lifting dude. I benched 530 @ 181 pounds back in April 2001 in Pittsburgh. Keep trying, keep your technique straight , do heavy dumbells, and only bench heavy once a week to give your body time to recuperate. I've been to the IPF world championships 9 times and won 6 medals, 2 gold. Look at my video on UA-cam, Leonard McCormick bench pressing. I wouldn't steer you wrong!

Kirill Sarychev totaled 1084 kg / 2386 lbs in a powerlifting meet while benching 320 kg / 705 lbs. I don't see how you did not mention this as it is basically the same feat as Thomas Davis (Totaled 2375, so slightly less even); squatting before deadlifting as well. Kirill also benched 300 kg / 661 lbs at 21 years old in competition.
Kirill had the most potential on this list he could have done wayyyy more if he chose to
@@neal520 Yup agree 100%
Kirill had way more in the tank but retired at the top with his best years ahead of him.
@@neal520 I always thought that imagine if he gained like 50 lbs or even 100 he could of done way more.
@@neal520Hell no! Not in benching. He could never have matched or surpassed the current Julius. Let's not kid ourselves here. He trained for decades and that was his max at his heaviest body weight. 😏

@rdallas81 hell no. Haha For reference that day, allen Fischer was there. He is a legend in armwrestling. Fischer couldn't move my left arm but Spoto could beat me without even beggining to try.
This was just practice, so take that all with a grain of salt.
@@randkamza1206 amazing!
I remember watching Spoto back in the day!
Awesome stuff and thanks for taking your time to tell me about that!
If you lift raw or equipped and you love what you do, then what does it matter what anyone else is doing. Raw and equipped lifters have been hating on each other for so long that why does it even matter. Work out the way you want and be happy. I love lifting raw while training because of the way it makes me feel. When I compete I want to lift the most amount of weight possible even if it means using equipment because I get a different feeling from competing since its not about the pump and more about a 1 rep max. You all are amazing weather its raw or equipped. Keep up the hard work who ever you are
Excellent video - thanks!

Great video! Made with enthusiasm and facts!
Why didn’t you include Ted Arcidi. He was the first to break the 700 lbs barrier in a power lifting competition!
Oh, he did it in a single-ply shirt; doesn't count as raw.
@@ytsux9259it was a simple spandex undershirt. They didn’t have ‘equipped’ lifting in 1985, at all. I hate when the modern generation tries to discredit old time lifters by saying something wasn’t right with the lift. Pretty sure there is video that exists so you can verify this
I've seen it, I wasn't there but I seen Ted do it. Because he was a pro wrestler it gets discounted? How about Mark Henry?
@@richardmorris7063Mark Henry doesn’t even come close to the 700 lbs club. His best bench in a meet was 460. He was a crazy strong squatter & deadlifter
And Greg Kovacs, the biggest bodybuilder of all time, could hit 700lb for two reps
Thank you. Was Ted Arcidi's 705 in 1985 considered to be equipped?

PB-315 for 10 reps but I was a bodybuilder. Blew out my knees, shoulder, neck, and lower back. Now that I’m 60 I’ll look back and wish I had played golf. Lol. Bury me massive! That was our credo. "Big" Jim Williams was actually the first man to bench over 700 pounds. He did 705, not officially, but before credible witnesses in the gym. Since he held the American record officially at 675, I believe he did get the 705 fifty years ago.
Bob Hoffman, John Kuc, Bob Bednarski, & Ken Leistner were all present to witness Jim Williams bench 725 at their gym
@davidpigozzo5918 I always read that Jim got 705, but I didn't know he peaked out at 725. If it had been official, he would have held the record for many more decades!
@@PinnaclePete If I also remember correctly he attempted 705 at the AAU World or National Championships? It was his 3rd attempt and it stalled on the way up so he was credited with 685 on his 2nd attempt.
