Tavern crewmember here! I'm glad you like. 🙂 It was an amazing experience to be on set with her crew and i am happy the vibe resonates with you and other viewers. Patty is from Germany and the weird instrument is a Hurdy Gurdy (so that is where she gets her stagename from). With the crank you turn a wheel on some strings like a bow on a violin. With the keys you make the strings longer or shorter so you can play different notes. That is why the gurdy is kinda related to the violin. Patty has some nice video's on her channel explaining how the hurdy gurdy works.
As a fan of Patty I absolutely love your reaction, thank you very much for it. 🙂And never was the title "first reaction" more true than here, because your reaction is literally the first reaction-video to Patty's new video at all since it was released less than 24h ago. To answer two of your questions - 1) Where is Patty from? She is an independent musician from Germany. 2) Instrument like an accordeon? Nope, the hurdy-gurdy is an instrument more alike to a violin with a wheel instead of a bow. It's quite old, "coming" from the middle-ages (first pictures of it around 10th or 11th century, I'm not sure). Patty has three different hurdy-gurdys and you can find a couple of explanation-videos on her youtube-channel. Unfortunately youtube has a habit to delete my comments, when I put links in it, but if you want to find out, what amazing music can be made by only using a hurdy-gurdy in different settings ("multi-layered") I propose her song "The longing" on her channel or her version of the Game-of-thrones-theme. If you want to see her performing live, you have to watch out for the "true scottish pirate metal"-band Alestorm in these days, since she is confirmed as a guest-musician for their last gigs this year (Mallorca, Mexiko City, Chile) and their tours next year (Paganfest in Europe and later Australia/NZ-tour) after featuring on their song "Voyage of the dead marauder".
Hey Danny! It’s been a while. I commented with you quite a while ago when you reacted to Angelina Jordan for the first time. Ironically, I was a fan of Patty Gurdy’s back in 2017 when I discovered Angelina. I fell in love with Patty and her hurdy gurdy. She has a very interesting video explaining how the stringed instrument works. Anyways… when I discovered Patty I assumed she was Irish. It wasn’t until listening to her for three months that I discovered that she was German… from Düsseldorf. Love that you’ve discovered Patty. I’ll be requesting a reaction or two of some amazing videos Patty has performed in in the future. Nice reaction. 👋 Greetings from Vermont 💚USA.
Amazing!!!
