Honestly, I thought I hated tequila until I tried a quality one. Bought a ~$55 bottle of a reposado. It brought out such nice flavors that really deserve to be sipped and enjoyed. I'll also make it into a sort of old fashion with: 2 oz tequila of choice, a barspoon of agave nectar, 1-2 dashes of orange bitters, garnished with an expressed orange peel. It's a refreshing way to wind down!

I was too scared to try any type of tequila for all of my 20's due to having had the dry-heave hangovers from my teenage era experiments with Jose gold. By age 32 I was a big whiskey and rum fan. But after trying a bunch of different decent quality tequilas I was a fan right away. Such a shame that Jose and the cheap crap unfairly ruined tequila's reputation for alot of us "back in the day". The tequila scene back then wasn't anything like what it is now.

    Something to keep in mind:
The ñ in Añejo breaks down to two sounds (an 'n' sound and a 'y' sound). A syllabication would be something like An-ye-ho. I thought I was on a 100k sub channel with the quality, keep it consistent. This is good stuff. Also, glassware isn't talked about as much but it does enhance or detract from the drinking experience (whether it's water or juice or booze)

And I love it. I'm not a fan of most alcohol. I'm an avid taster but never found "my alcohol genre" until tequila.
It's amazing how similar it is to drinking a good whiskey! It's like writing off the entire world of whiskey because I had only seen and tasted fireball!

Used to work in a few bars quite some time ago and the 100% Agave thing was one of the biggest things that changed my stance and outlook on tequila. Growing up being a teen or young adult at parties, usually IF tequila was there it was Jose Cuervo garbage and once in a while somebody would bring Patron because it was the rappers drink of that time.
I learned there wasn't just blancos and that too really changed things for me. The first Anjeo and Reposado's I had completely changed my views on the taste. I generally prefer Anjeo tequila's with Don Juilio being one of my favorites, but for a good party tequila most Reposado's work just fine for it as well as making good cocktails.

Also another big factor in the quality of 100% Agave tequila is the cooking methods. There is a huge difference between a tequila that uses stone brick ovens and a tequila that uses a diffuser.
So not all 100% agave tequila are the same quality. Generally stone brick oven is the best method for cooking.

At 31, I finally decided to give tequila another chance after only having Jose gold when I was younger, and it was always as a shot forced on me. It was vile. I bought Espolon blanco yesterday and surprisingly enjoy it a lot, palomas might be a new favorite drink.

The same video with Vodka would be cool. Most people my age mix it with red bull. A Norwegian friend always drinks one glass of vodka and a seperate glass of Orange juice or water and i have to say that's plain but better than mixing it

I do NOT touch Jose Cuervo.
Only 100% blue Weber agave for me.
So No hang overs for me.
(LOL you cover all this )
I began drinking it on ice and margaritas, then as I found better tequilas I moved to neat.
Personally I have it in a Canadian whisky glass. But I have enjoyed it in many others.
Espolon was definitely a staple along with Altos!
Anyway always happy to see a great tequila video.

I'm from Guadalajara, 30 minutes away from Tequila, yes there's a lot of tequila qualities, the 100% agave you usually can drink alone while other tequilas you can get a prepared drinks like the famous Cantaritos, and it will taste good too. You should make a video on Cantaritos

Tiny Spanish lesson, if you ever see an N with a squiggle above it, you were supposed to add a Y to the end of that N.

I did a consulting job in Guadalajara a few years back for herradura tequila Co and the first two days I was educated about the types of Tequila and the process, Also how to properly drink the fine spirits. You are 100 % right, they stated a fine tequila should be sipped like a fine wine, the Blanco ( young) tequila is ok to mix but you are still wasting the spirit. On a personal note I have tried many fine tequilas but my favorite is Herradura Añejo

    • @richardturner7560

Herradura anejo is what I use to convert tequila haters into tequila drinkers. It’s delicious.

    • @oscaraldretee
      @oscaraldretee 2 роки тому

Herradura is delicious but is made at the same place as Jimador which is on par with Cuervo as they are both additive laden. Tequila was never a fine drink, it was a drink made for common folk. Look at pulque and its history, its not finely aged wine. It can been enjoyed however the end user wants.

My preferred Sangrita is made with tomatoes, orange juice, lime juice and a selection of onions, peppers, garlic, limes and oranges in a cheese cloth for steeping. If you're like me, it'll be a flavor like you've never tasted and totally awesome.

Thanks, nicely done! Yeah, people are slowly learning about GOOD tequila... anybody who doesn't like it or has gotten sick has been drinking the crap. The other day I saw a man pick up a bottle of "gold tequila" and almost stopped him but didn't. Now I feel bad... Love that you mentioned sangrita. Yes, no official recipe; I like mine with a tomato base. Spicy Hot V8 works well, because the heat is already in it. Then I use orange juice, lemon, lime, and a little grenadine that I have seen mentioned in a few recipes, maybe add a few shakes of Tajin. There's another tequila now-- cristalino is usually an añejo or extra añejo that has been filtered with activated charcoal in order to remove its color and enhance its fruity and floral character. The result is a clear tequila, similar to a blanco, which also retains the taste and aroma profile of a tequila that has been barrel aged. I had a shot of Herradura cristalino ultra last week that was amazing! Smooth as heck, creamy, with beautiful chocolate notes. Check it out! Cheers from Indiana!
