Oh my gosh! Full body chills over and over as Dr. Baron described him reading all those books and having a spiritual manifestation from the Holy Ghost!
I've enjoyed listening to Dr Baron with a tremendous amount of joy and interest. Dr Baron brings love of scripture, love of teaching, for me I feel palpably the depth of his upbringing with Hebrew which gives me confidence of understanding and hearing how the Lord has worked in him. I'm listening to this on Tuesday Morning October 4th, which turns out to be the eve of Yom Kippur a day that observant Jews fast. I also know from my students that this is not the only day of the year that they fast but this is an important day. I feel that our heavenly father chose this moment to speak to me about this issue and I confess this was not part of my tradition but I would like to try and I know that God will walk with me on this effort blessings to all of you.
I too am greatfull for people who aren't afraid to speak up and make suggestions. Also for These brothers that actually read these comments. Most youtubers like them don't really have the time to read these comments. I will never think 🤔 oh they won't see this. You never know if our ideas are being considered.
I love the story about welcoming the Sabbath at the Western Wall. While I am a Mennonite, I am a voice teacher now at this point in my life. I've talked Cantors for years and the joy of working on music that his sung on Friday is is an extraordinary experience. The songs that are sung have blessed me even in lessons. Goings-on to a Friday night service is an extraordinary blessing. To hear the Sabbath welcomed as the Sabbath bride is welcomed, God welcomes us into God's house Beth El.
This episode was such an inspiration! From Ross's incredible story to how to study Isaiah by marking the names of the Savior, to places and meanings. I feel the need to fast on a whole new level! The most underutilized tool of the church! Wow! Thank you!
What an amazing podcast! My husband and I devoured the entire program, and will go back again, because there is so much here. We are inspired to improve our fasting -- but even more, to learn to SEARCH Isaiah, as the Savior commanded. We will be following the steps that Dr. Baron outlined. Thank you!
Wow thank you so much I've always thought that fasting is one of the most underrated process that we could do to come closer to Christ. I think we need to give our self to 'much prayer and fasting'. I love fasting it's a wonderful time for me, it truly is a delight.
Thanks again for another great week. One of the best side effects is finding new "favorite speakers". I love Brother Baron's teaching, he touches my understanding. I have gone to look him up and wish I could hear more from him.
I actually laughed when I heard your tree comments since President Oaks talked about a "Tree School" at conference this weekend. Please have Brother Baron back. He is a great guest!
My mother had us fast for dinner the night before and then breakfast the next day. Then we didn't eat again until about 4-5 pm. Even after she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes she would only eat a very sparse breakfast. She said if you can't fast due to health reasons, eat something simple instead of what you would normally eat for those meals.
In our home we invite our children to begin fasting when they turn eight. From eight to ten years old we encourage them to fast for 14 hours, then after turning ten, we challenge them to increase the length of their fast by ten minutes each month until they reach a full 24-hour fast.
That's a beautiful conversion story. Makes me look at the extra books that I should be reading with my kids. Thanks for the inspiration. I love you guys. Thanks for doing this.
I posted this link on our family chat. All my children went to BYU-I and unanimously their favorite religion teacher was Brother Baton. I loved his conversion story. Thanks.
🧔🏽♀️ I’ve enjoyed all your guests (you two are cool too) yet I must say Dr. Baron was crazy amazing! Please have him back!!! I’d move to BYU Idaho if it weren’t so “darn” cold 🥶
I wish I could take his class at BYU-Idaho. I’m grateful that you have scholars like him and others on your show. It enriches my study of the gospel. Thank you.
I loved every minute of this episode! I have shared it with everyone I talked to this week. I have felt a new love for Isaiah and so grateful for access to resources like this that open my heart and my mind to things I never would have come to on my own!
Outstanding! Dr. Baron, thank you for sharing your conversion story at the beginning instead of the end! I was also inspired by your story about preparing for a mission. I watched this entire podcast in 1 setting, which I never do. It typically takes me days. I can't wait to watch part 2 tomorrow! 42:35- depression & anxiety 💙 🙌 🙏🏼
As I listen to this I wonder how you choose who will be asked to be the guest for each episode! Everyone is so perfect for the particular episode! I commend you and the staff. ❤
I was a seminary student of his before he became an institute director. Maybe we inspired him to follow his dream of helping teach doctrine to the youth, since he thought all was lost with us. Lol
Brother Baron! I took one of your classes at BYU-I and absolutely loved it! It was such a treat to hear from you again. It filled my soul. Makes me want to take more classes from you! Not sure if you remember when i turned in my notes at the end of the semester but i had collected all of your hilarious quotes you said that i loved haha always made me laugh and feel the spirit. thank you.
Such a great episode. I think there may have been a mistake in the handbook citation for fasting? I’m teaching seminary later this week and want to reference the handbook for my lesson. I’m pretty much finding the cited information in 22.2.2 versus the section 38 mentioned.
What does it mean by Isaiah 64:6, But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness's are like filthy rags. Christians believe this scripture means that we have no true righteousness unless it is given to us by God, Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. Ephesians 1:8 For by Grace you have been saved through faith and not of yourselves; it is a gift from God. Good works is a result of God's grace that works through us by faith. Unless we have His grace working through us, we do not have good works. We cannot make good works on our own, we need God's grace. Filthy rags are ungodly righteousness, we cannot earn righteousness, it comes through to us from Jesus.
I love the scripture citation index and blue letter bible. Another resource I like is Bible Hub because it will show all the different translations side by side. It's helpful sometimes to compare the KJV with a more modern translation to understand it better. *edit* oh, Hank brings that up too!
This has been so awesome to this ole lady
I appreciate Brother Baron and his willingness to share his love of the gospel. The Lord’s blessings remain only His to give.
Dr. Ross D. Barron is a stud and now one of my favorite people in the world.
Oh my gosh! Dr. Baron is delightful!

The introduction minutes touched my heart. Excellent!

There are many excellent resources associated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints available to glean from.
Wow! I want to hear more about your story!

I am so enjoying this!!! Thank you all of you!
I've loved Brother Baron since I was in seminary in Covina, CA, and he was over the seminary and institutes for my stake. This is awesome!

Ross is brilliant! Love being on his faculty and being able to stop by his office anytime to be inspired.

Thank you so much for this podcast. You have explained fasting so explicitly. I look forward for first Sunday. ❤❤❤

In Baltimore I would see a bumper sticker-usually on a car driven by a woman: Smile! Shabbat is coming!”

When listing all the names of God in Isaiah, my understanding is that God is Jehovah. Do any of those names refer to God the Father?

I haven’t found the app. Can anyone help?
Fasting without prayer, is starvation.
Isaiah has me hostage...
😅
