I am the owner. I want to clear up some confusion in the comment section as to why there are new tires on the car. Before I reached out to RJ, I was going to try and do the job myself. The tires that were on the car were completely flat and the car was sitting on the wheels. I put the car on jack stands, removed the wheels and had new tires installed. After that , I found WD Detailing and decided to let them work their magic! Great guys/very professional!
OPENYD You're one lucky dude to own such a beautiful classic. Would love to see a video on the start up of this car, hear the sound of that 24valve straight six and see it being driven on the road. RJ did a fantastic job, super thorough, but then the foundation was good to start with being a well cared for un-abused example which looks to be fully loaded. The price of these cars is going through the roof, hope you start enjoying it again..
The M5 recently exited the garage for the first time in years. New injectors were installed, some plugs were pulled and cleaned, and we fired her up. Purred like a kitten. I will try and make a video to share with everyone who was hoping to see her back on the road.
The best detailing video so far . So much comfort , luxury and technology for such an old car . BMW quality and engineering proved itself through this video !
I had the same black/tan combo on my 87 325i. BMWs from that era truly deserved the "Ultimate Driving Machine" title. Light, nimble, joy to drive and reliable to boot. They sure don't make em like that anymore. Great job! Btw
I love the fact we see more than a few seconds of the owner's reactions on your videos. It's great to hear their thoughts and anecdotes about the cars.
How ironic. I also bought my e28 m5 in 1998, and still own. Like him, I was blown away the first time I saw one new in 1988. Instantly it became the car I had to have "one day". Bought mines at East Bay Bmw in Pleasanton Ca for 11k in 1998. Great job filming this special car!
IMHO, the e28 was the last of the great BMWs. I drove the heck out of my 524td. Although not a popular one, it was rare and the diesel performed remarkably well and got 40 mpg. Sold it at 280k, and the last count before I lost track was 400k. All the materials are extremely durable and easy to clean. Never any surprises.
Thank you so much for this comment. We always worry that we’ll get hate for doing them but we do the details in these videos for free 95% of the time. You’re awesome!
Both beautiful and highly desirable and coveted BMWs . Glad he kept them for his children to enjoy . Would love to see him post some more videos of both of these cars . Great job guys
Awesome video and great detailing but one thing our shop found with old euros is a good hand wash is preferred as pressure washers blow water past mirror and window seals and can cause a fair amount of water ingress.
Sophia and Emily just sat here and watched this entire video and absolutely loved it. Sophia was also very concerned when you said the extractor broke lol great job, guys!
Fantastic job, and a fantastic car, how they are spoiled by the Federal bumpers. European versions are so much improved with the slimmer, as BMW intended ones.
I can't understand, how do you keep a historic and important car like this in a garage by abandoning it, you guys are great not only to have found it but to have done such a job wow wow wow wow
I owned a M5 3,5 with 286 hp simular to this one , mine his from 1986 and has black leather interior. I love these cars from BMW.M5 and M6 in Europe the are very expansive. Love your channel 👌🏻👍🏻 . Regarts from Holland 🇳🇱.
This is 1985-1986 model and it is not a abandoned, it is just dusty not washed, the tiers are very new, and that is the best way to store cars in dusty way for protection from sunlight and scratches.
And to prevent mold to build up leave at least one window slightly open. Humidity can escape from the interior on warm days and this will make it harder for mold to grow
They probably threw new tires (if you look those tire are BRAND NEW) on it before getting it detailed so they could roll it around... I'm betting the old tires wouldn't hold air, or at least it's a far more logical assumption than anything you said 🤣... This car has sat for 10+ years.... That's abandoned sorry bud.
My first car was a 1982 528e. Straight 6 with the stick. It wasn't a hotrod, but for a punk 16 year old it was the best. I've had many cars since but it is still my favorite.
1988 e28 M5. The only year for import to the US. Import numbers were somewhere between 800 and 900 units. All were black exterior w/tan leather interiors. Except a few that had a black interior. Excellently balanced. It handled well on the track. And it was surprisingly quick for the day.
Nice detailing, I love what the owner said about the first time he saw the car on the street: "someday". I feel the same about the 67' impala, someday I'll have one.
Growing up my dad had a Ford Granada with tan vinyl seats. We lived on a farm and with the car not having a/c the windows were always down. Over the years the seats got really dirty and got to the point they were no longer tan. When I was 11 or 12 I decided to try to clean the seats and pretty much the only thing under the sink was good ole comet. With a bucket of water and comet I brought the seats back to looking new. I wouldn’t recommend using comet, but I knew nothing about how to clean seats, but it worked great.
My first BMW was a Black 1981 320i 5 speed . Gold BBS wheels with low Folda tires black out windows, front air dem, rear spoiler . I used to love cruzing and detailing it .1986..💰
Great clean. Someone's probably said it already, but you corrected the paint with compound but what did you use afterwards to protect it? I didn't see a wax or ceramic coating stage.
Wouldn't be surprised if it fires, I cranked over an E34 535 just trying to reset the trip computer after sitting for 9 years, started within 15 seconds on the old fuel. Great old car, good to see it getting some love.
Wow this car came out beautiful guys love it.. Love the 2002 :) Always been a BMW fan and have owned quite a few over the years.. this is Stunning :) loving your channel since subscribing.. Happy 2024 Pete
Hello from Westlake….I’d say it’s an 86 based on the 3rd brake light….those came out in late 85 as standard on all cars in the US. BTW, met someone who was a patient of mine a few weeks ago who knows you guys well. Said something big was about to happen. I asked if you were as genuine in person as you appear on video and she said “absolutely…and then some”. Weird how the conversation came up and how I found out she knew this UA-camr car detailer…..I showed her a video and said “you mean these guys?” We both had a good laugh. Glad to hear things are going well for you guys.
Very nicely done. Watching The Detail Geek videos brought me here. And its amazing. Love the russian letters (we serbians love our russian brothers). That BMW is amazing. Much better than all these new generation cars-love classic cars so much. Such a great leather, carpet, beautiful lines, bad ass machine. Goodluck with the road to 300k, than 500k. You deserve it. Keep going with great work.
What year do you guys think this BEAUTIFUL e28 M5 was built? Comment below & don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't already!
1987
86

1981

Know the value of this car. Even if you don't like it, put it aside. Your grandchildren will pray for you in the future.

Next time put the front jackstands under the right spot....😉
You able to get it running yet? Making a video on it?
@@braydenweber6432 Not running yet. Parts on order. Hopefully running in the next few weeks. I will try to post something once she is on the road!!

Very curious to see how that M5 purrs... Thanks for keeping us updated!
Beautiful e28...any chance that you might consider selling it?
Source some euro spec bumpers mate! Will transform this amazing beast
It will add years to your life from happiness to get this car back as it was
Please do looking forward to seeing in action 👍🗽🇹🇹

Year 88, I would absolutely daily drive that car for the rest of my life, art on wheels.

That was a perfectly good M&M under the driver’s seat.
im dead.
@@harleybutler389 Why? you could eat that. It was perfectly fine & edible.
True it was perfectly fine & edible. I don't know what's wrong with Harley Butler. He thinks that it was not.
I got hungry when I saw that one piece of Honeycomb cereal in the back seat around the 10:00 mark.
I love the fact we see more than a few seconds of the owner's reactions on your videos. It's great to hear their thoughts and anecdotes about the cars.
Wow! That turned out amazing. Great job! Thanks Doc for hooking these guys up.
the beige interior is more than sensitive, to have this brought back to closely new condition deserves respect, good job !

When a stain can't get removed ...... "I think it adds character" Got to love the upsale!
Love it, awesome job it literally came out looking like new. Love the story of the car too, hope he gets it cranked up!!

That M5 just went from ultra rare to insanely beautiful and rare. Great job WD and greetings from 🇩🇰
Fantastic job, and a fantastic car, how they are spoiled by the Federal bumpers. European versions are so much improved with the slimmer, as BMW intended ones.
Totally agree. Those bumpers ruin the look of the car
Can you still get a Euro bumper kit for these?
I had purchased some for my ‘86 E30.
Unpopular opinion I know but I think the USDM bumpers of that era look great. Not a pretty design but definitely funky and symbolic of the times.
I like my US bumpers. Not many of us around like the M5. Wink wink.

I had a Pirelli poster in the late 80’s featuring the M5. It’s been an automotive benchmark for me ever since.
This is 1985-1986 model and it is not a abandoned, it is just dusty not washed, the tiers are very new, and that is the best way to store cars in dusty way for protection from sunlight and scratches.

What a beautiful masterpiece from Munchen
You can tell that dentist is a car guy at heart so cool!! He has 2 awesome bmws that 77 2002 is even with more than the m5
Not sure they made a 2002 in 1977 as the was the first year for the E21 FYI I'm restoring a 1973 2002tii
To me, it’s the best find ever
You guys do a great job ! Compliments from South Africa. 👍👍👍👍
