Both the hit by 42 and Jaire Alexander were pi. the 5 yard rule doesnt apply when the ball is in the air to that receiver. so since the ball is out of mahomes hand or starting to leave his hand as 42 hit affects rices route its pi. if mahomes had waited and rice had cleared and recovered from the hit then had the ball thrown to him then the 5 yard rule would apply and it wouldnt have been pi. Other wise linebackers could just level any body within 5 yards like on short outs, slants, or curls

PI was called on #42 yes there is a rule where you can make contact with the WR within 5 yards but that only the defender covering him. He was flagged for PI but it should’ve been called for contact with the receiver because he check him from making that route. It was the right call in my opinion. And I’m neither a bills or chiefs fan. That packers game with Alexander that wasn’t a penalty neither and was a good no call.
