Yeahhhh, you're come back, I love your videos😸 You've made me realize that learn Chinese is possible (a 5 years lesson of humility) but it still being possible.
awww you're so sweet!!! and Yepp, it's totally possible! the amount of time it'll take depends on the person and the time that they have, but if billions of people can learn it, we can learn it too!!
Welcome back!!! 😊 I am looking forward to your next video. I’ve also not been doing much Anki and started reading more and listen to the accompanying audiobook. I don’t even want to think about Anki anymore hehe
I don't learn Chinese, but I learn English. I really enjoy watching your channel to improve my English. You are a very bright and good person, so it is very easy to watch.
I took 1.5 years of Chinese in high school 20+ years ago and recently got back into it. I'm enjoying your videos. I'm also working towards starting a PhD in a couple of years, any chance you'd be willing to spill the beans on your PhD with how you handle the workload, why you chose the word processor software you chose, etc? Also, you have an absolutely stunning smile.
I'm actually shifting my channel to be graduate school focused, so please watch!! and share with any friends or family that would be interested as well! I'll be sharing all the things I've learned in my 6 years in research and how to get accepted/thrive in PhD! Let me know if there are any other videos you would like to see and I'll do what I can :)
Yep! It’s been a crazy ride since the new year. I haven’t studied Chinese in almost two months and I am having trouble remember things…..weird how the tones are starting to fall away. Maybe in the fall:)
the crazier thing though is how quickly you'll be able to pick it back up!! the brain remembers way more than you think, so whenever you have the time to start studying again, it'll come flying back!
@@bianca.phdinprogress thank you for your answer, and you motivate and inspire me because i am trying yo learn chinese by hsk books and it is pretty difficult for me :( anyway thank you love 😻🤍
Oh man! I thought you moved away and joined a Monastery!!! Lol 😅 jk. Welcome back 🙌🏾. Funny enough I just bought y 1st graded reader in Russian. I finally found one at the level I needed and my gosh Stephen Krashen was right! For the 1st time I was actually just focused on the story and not “learning”. It was AMAZING. I never truly believed Krashen until now. It was so crazy. I was just caught up in the story itself. I can’t wait to hear more about ur custom Graded-Readers next video! 👍🏾
no monastery hahaha, although sometimes I wish I had the time for solitude and self reflection that is present in a monastery XD. And yeah, I completely agree with Krashen's ideas on comprehensible input, especially in the beginning, but I don't think it emphasizes the motivation component to continue reading. Ultimately, a tool is only as useful as it's frequency in use, so I personally would rather sacrifice comprehensibility for the sake of increasing frequency.
Really?? Maybe I should make an essential graded reader pack of the first episode of a few different genres to build a solid foundation of native content vocabulary. Do you think something like that would be helpful?
@@bianca.phdinprogress I think that would be very helpful!! I live in Asia so ebooks are really my only option because shipping is a disaster 😂 I think people would love to have more graded reader options. Especially from your brain!
Awesome!! I’ll definitely make that then! I’ll keep you updated on progress in videos!! Will try to get at least 5 episodes done within this month or next and then release them!
I'm already getting started on making a curated graded reader set, do you mind if I ask both of you a few questions? 1) what genres would you be interested in seeing? 2) what price do y'all think would be reasonable for a single episode (depending on the show, between 30-60 pages long). I will def have a bulk discount though!
Why not move to China for a year or two? NY is cool but take it from me a NY resident China will be the best experience of your life! Travel china, explore, and practice your Chinese. I know you would both struggle and love it, but you would love it more than struggle.
I definitely am planning on visiting in the near future!! But ultimately, my professional goals require me to stay in the US for the foreseeable future. I would love to take an extended trip to various regions in China though!
im actually going on a trip to Japan in 2 months ...... soooo I'm going to try to learn essential travel Japanese in two months. I'll be making a video about that, but if I enjoy learning Japanese in those two months, I may try to learn it slowly and can definitely make videos about that!
i am happy that you made a new video
Aww thank you!! I’m glad to be making videos again!!

btw your hair color looks wonderful. Did you do it by yourself? i have been trying to get this hair color, but i can't :(
This is actually my natural hair color! It looks more blonde in the sun and more brown in the shade.

I guess that new anki deck isn't coming out then haha
I can still theoretically make an HSK5 deck! Will probs not make an HSK6 but I went though majority of HSK5 so if there’s enough demand I can make it!
