John Lithgow was in an entirely different film than everyone else in this movie. All the other characters are simple characters in a typical teen film, but here’s John Lithgow playing a preacher strong in his faith, but still totally grounded, and struggling with how to approach his daughter. In most other films like this he’d be the villain, but I certainly really liked him when I watched the film.
I think Kevin hates to admit that footloose put gun on the map, he plays down about that movie every time they interview him. Just like he doesn't talk about Friday the 13th .
Lol that footloose intro on Fallon was absolutely classic. Footloose definitely put him more on the map in terms of being a lead, but Tremors and the cult classic it became was probably the major one that pushed his popularity earlier in his career.

His character was complex instead of portraying a one note villain
The story of Kevin leaving that note for John is so sweet... Two great actors and lovely men! ❤️

Footloose was one of the first movies I saw John Lithgow in. The first two were The Twilight Zone Movie and 2010: The Year We Make Contact.

I read that Footloose ended up having Kevin Bacon being typecasted for a few years. His career blew up when Tremors came out!
