If you’re thinking about getting one, I fully recommend just going for it. I’ve had the standard projectors before, but I bought Dell’s S718QL during a sale late last year and have been so much happier. No more running long distance fiber HDMI, and it’s no longer a struggle running out of distance for a 200” picture. Even though I’m currently projecting on a wall, the ability to keep the lights on and still see a great 200” picture from anywhere in my living room and kitchen outweigh any of the downfalls (not many btw) for this type of projector or lack of screen (because the price for a 200” alr screen for ust is still outrageous) for me. The picture is bright, the colors pop, and the blacks are so much darker than I was expecting (Battle of Winterfell was no problem viewing). The price is very steep and this was the biggest hurdle for me, but it’s a long term investment.
Any video of the demo playing in the theater room? All the videos I have seen are showing in well lit environments. Would like to see some dark room vids, if possible. Thanks
We did not test the input lag, but LG's product manager told us it's 64ms in the game mode. We several different input lag testing methods it's hard to compare input lag.
@@ArjunSingh-ir8ez Not sure as LG does not list larger screen sizes beyond 120". On our approximately 130" image in our HU85LA theater demo the projector was positioned about 9" from the screen.
It could probably project even bigger than 130 inches but it would lose brightness and focus.. Every projector I've ever used is capable of a larger image with brightness and focus issues..
@@kevina2052 Yes to a loss in brightness, but not likely focus as the manual focus range had plenty of head room beyond our 130" screen size we projected. Of course, everything has its limits.
It would increase the cost. 3D is a dying breed. I'm sure they did the research and it probably wasn't worth it. Granted, 6K price tag should just include it.
Tv's pretty much don't offer 3d any more, (and only tv's offer dolby vision and it has dolby vision like functionality, main thing preventing dolby vision is likely the nit output) and at that image size a tv would still be higher price if you can even find one 100+". Personally I'd rather have image size over 3d and an under used thus far image certification.
Robert is older than I expected. On AVSForum, everyone talks highly of him. Seems like a really great guy.
An ALR screen does make a difference with UST laser projectors, I have one from XYSCREENS and colors and contrast look much better.

Tomorrow
Very impressive piece of kit.
Is there going to be a review on this?
What is the refresh rate? 60 Hz? I heard someone say it was 30.
Chewie576 the Lg can do 60Hz
@@kevinweber6055 Correct, it's native to 60Hz
Input lag on it?

on line it says 120 inch are you sure its can project more than 120?
Yes, we have a second HU85LA in our theater and it's beautifully projecting a 130" image.
@@10583raz How far from the wall must the projector be for 130" image?

Can all laser heard projectors be ceiling mounted like this one?
That's a broad question. You'd have to look up the specs on any projector you're interested in.
A section of Fidelio Velvet negates reflection off the projector and furniture.
Wish I could afford something like that
No 3D no sale for me, certainly at that price point it should offer it.

Same here
Dlp is 0,47
Not this UST. LG's HU85LA uses TI's new .66 DLP DMD and it's a direct 3 channel laser with no RGB spinning wheel.
Most important for me.... 3d... I'm out.
No 3D no intrest.
$6,000 for no Dolby Vision or 3D no thank you

No projector can do Dolby Vision also the Sony (15000$) can only do HDR10
