jacks one sentence =paragraph
And I’m so thankful it is 😭
@@alishak6073 RIYALLLL
It's an artful use of commas 😌
Love it! I'd hate if he was being too literal with the one sentence rule
My exact thought but I loved every minute of it 😂
“Bring back 90 minute movies” I couldn’t agree more!!
add to that, bring back mid-budget movies. they allowed creators to be more creative and innovative and gave us some of the best movies that are still being talked about right now.
If you can’t make a movie in less than two hours you shouldn’t be making a movie
@ mate... have you never watched Schindler's List? or Anatomy of a Murder? or Amores Perros? or hell. TITANIC?!
Let’s not!
The way I feel like Jack is the cool Cousin at a family function, you only meet once a year, but everytime you're like: *Ahh that's why I liked him so much*
That's a really nice thing to say about someone
@charlotteburbano7391 Getting more creative with my compliments Every day ^^ Learned that in compliment school

I'll have what she's having....
YOU THINKING THE ELPHABA GLINDA SONG WAS GOING TO BE IN THE MOVIE IS SENDING ME INTO ORBIT
Calls Argyle worst film ever
Gives it two stars
You’re so generous!
It was the weirdest to be honest not horrible
I didn’t loathe it until the skating scene and then I said aaaaaaarrerggggghhhyle
I actually enjoyed it 😢 Idk what that says about me
@@fotinik1259 nothing babes! everyone has different tastes
2 stars solely for the cat
jack your one sentence reviews would win best monologue for sure!! great video
That last one hurt… Nosferatu was one of my favourites from the year.
JACK IS SO BACK.
Jacks honestly the most real person on the internet. Love any content you put out
i know, right? my heart would really hurt if anything were to come up that he actually faked his reviews and videos. at least for now, we can live in peace watching youtube's resident librarian.
I audibly gasped at the Nosferatu review
Jack, please create a video about BOOKS TURNED INTO A MOVIE. Then, give us your thoughts both about the book and the movie! THANK YOUUUUUUU!
i wish i could be in Jack's room. I'd just be a tiny dust particle and still feel content
So would I tbf
... thank you for the tiny spectacle of cute poetry you commented.
Keira Knightley absolutely nailed her performance in "Anna Karenina". One of my facourite adaptations of the classical Tolstoy's novel, for sure)
I can't get over this movie. I think about it weekly, if not daily sometimes 😅 glad to find someone that loves it
@@KitKat0nly you might be surprised how many like-minded people there are on the internet, booktube in particular)
I have so many mixed feelings about it. I liked the concept and the performances, but as an adaptation it fell a bit flat for me personally
Nice mood lighting. Very cozy.
jack i love you but i will not be taking the nosferatu slander. i thought lily and bill were incredible on this too and he did a lot of research and work to get that voice which is accurate to his character.
All parents must watch both inside out and inside out 2
Jack you should (I’m begging you to) watch Before Sunrise! Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy walking on the streets of Vienna! The chemistry, acting, dialogue is superb!
love that you said the name of the movies instead of just putting the poster on screen. means i can listen to this while doing my washing :)
the nosferatu rating is diabolical
Nosferatu is definitely not camp
You should watch Martin Scorcese’s adaptation of Age of Innocence. One of the best novel to film adaptations ever.
the wicked review vs the nosferatu review… i’m in severe pain
literally diabolical 😭 praising ariana grande’s nickelodeon acting over lrd and nicholas hoult is crazy work. likeee I fear u in fact did not get it, jack
agree with you on basically everything, but Nosferatu was amazing. Pure film art, and has quite deep symbolisms. A classic/gothic horror respectfully rooted in folklore with spiritual undertones. I recommend all of Robert Eggers' movies, btw.
Have we ever considered that Lilly Rose Depp's accent didn't sound English because her character was supposed to be German?
But she clearly doesn't sound germn either, I think I remember an interview with Lilly Rose Depp where the intviewer praised her English accent in Nosferatu
letterboxd hates to see jack and his 1 liners coming 😎
His efficiency is threatening for them
okay now that I've watched half of it it turns out his one liners are more like paragraphs but that is completely okay
🥸🧐🤓
Loved Nosferatu but I love Gothic literature and films. As for the accent they should have technically been speaking German so a lot of the audience would have been reading captions. So the English wouldn't sound proper English due to the German speaking English accent. I lived in Germany for 5.5 years and once I was back, I was told my accent did not sound right also. The first Nosferatu is a silent film and the 70's is in all German and the 2025 is English.
jacks one sentence videos are the best representation of adhd for book/movie nerds.
Atonement and Anna Karenina in THE SAME FLIGHT? damn.
jack in the FILMS era? love it.
It is the fact that he paused, thought for a sec, and was like “I actually stand by that statement”😂😂
Hi, Jack wanted to say I love your videos, always been a comfort watch. ❤
Anyone but you and It Ends with Us being higher rated than Nosferatu 💀💀
'Give it to me right from the udder' 😂😂😂 OMG DYING!!!
didn't love Nosferatu, but i liked it. think of it about how Ellen's character sought out Count Orlock bc she was lonely which caused Orlock to take advantage of her. then when she found Thomas, she didnt want him to leave bc everyone else thought she was crazy but he was the only one who loved her "craziness" and all. she found true love. but Orlock also took advantage of Thomas because he craves power and made Ellen feel even crazier. i can go on tbh, there's actually a lot you can seek about identity as a theme in the film. i would recommend looking up some positive Letterboxd reviews or youtube essays for some insight if you're curious!
Love these little chaos vids. I live for them and I'm so happy the real Jack is BACK BABY! ❤
I'm loving 2025 Jack. You can have interesting conversations while still talking about popular stuff.
Omg the background and the aesthetic of this video is so cozyyyy
I feel so many people went to see Nosferatu with zero homework on Robert Eggers. You expected a gothic dracula retelling, but knowing Eggers the movie is not surprising at all???
Eggers' brand of gothic storytelling is quite particular and absolutely weird! This was tottaly on brand for him.
yeah i still don't get the hype and i'm 100% on board with what Jack said about acting - most of them were just bad and i laughed so many times
Awful take. @@agula11524
That's what I thought too. I know the history behind the original 1922 film, I've seen Herzog's remake from 1979, and I've enjoyed Eggers films since The VVitch. I already had a pretty good idea what I was getting into and I loved it.
Shakespeare romcoms absolutely need to come back, im so glad im not the only one that feels that way
My therapist would literally recommend I rewatch Inside Out every time I’d get frustrated at bad emotions and you know what…she was so right for that
Nooo I loved Nosferatu thought it was so good LOL but agree with everything else!!
Also the Wicked story is WILD 😂❤
This should just be called Jack is charming for 20 minutes straight
When Harry met Sally is my favourite movie of all time 😭❤️
Last year I watched only one movie "the substance" for the hype but this year i must say I'm on a roll having finished four series in January alone
it’s 5 am but i saw a jack notif and i clicked sue me
I should totally take note of every movie I watch wait
somehow the films you like the most have more of a book feel in my opinion which totally makes sense and i love that for you
i live outside of america and was surprised that children learned classics in school. personally in my country, the english classes there is pretty basic, present tense, past tense, verbs, narration, description, exposition textes, all that silly stuff. so i am genuinely so stoked whenever a single shred of classic english literature is mentioned and i will scream. just very recently we had to pick between some greek or roman mythologies to choose from for an assignment and i was ecstatic as hell

What smear campaign? She was just horrendous in promoting that movie. Fun fact… she didn’t read the book so maybe that influenced the tone deaf approach? Really changed my opinion about her and her husband. Horrific!!!
BABE WAKE UP, JACK WATCHED MOVIES
honestly i really like that the substance is so unsubtle and not poetic. it's screaming at you and telling you that being a woman is fucking exhausting and frustrating, and at this point i feel like it makes sense to say the quiet part out loud
Will you please read and review Intermezzo? You've been making us wait SO LONG
La La Land (4:03) is one of my absolutely favorite movies and I always find myself getting upset over people who call it a horror movie simply because they arnt together in the end. The entire point is their ambitions and goals wouldn't have come true if they stayed together!!
annual rewatch of la la land is so real
I ALSO THOUGHT THAT THIS SONG WAS GONNA BE IN THE MOVIE, BRUH THIS IS SUCH A COOL SOOOOOOONG I AM OBSESSED
Hahah the Wicked story about the song 😂😂 I feel like it’s a common misconception, don’t feel bad Jack 😅
The dialogue being like that in The Substance was on purpose :)
what was the purpose?
I frankly don’t remember much dialogue apart from the fitness show scenes and yes, I think the dialogue should be simple and minimal for a movie like this. The body horror sequences give more of a gut punch than any dialogue could.
@@chaebinpark3853 The director wanted to make the movie had as little dialogue as possible and the dialogue to be basic. She wanted the visuals and the actresses' acting to be the main point of the movie
If your video was a movie i'd give it a 5/5 stars. comedic timing, amazing comments, thank u for making me laugh
The holdovers was filmed at my school!!!🥹🥹🥹
OMGGG need your letterboxd actually
Its in the description
Jack… you went to the premiere of WICKED…. And you thought… you know what sometimes life is unfair and that’s okay love that for you babes I’m so glad you enjoyed the movie😂
i gasped after each sentence about nosferatu. i’ll be the 1028392 person to say you just don’t get it.
How dare you hate on Argylle, it was a cinematic masterpiece 😂😂😂
6:35... Recently watched this movie.... loved it. Writing a short story through it about one of the most important moments of my life, this was a whirlwind success in my opinion
jack's review on all of us strangers is spot on 😭
(we have the same rating, too. hehe)
PLEASE continue your Norah Ephron deep dive by reading “I feel bad about my neck” muah it’s so good
The way we watched 90 percent of the same movies but i didnt watch on planes
One sentence is not so much a yearly tag for Jack as it is a challenge lol
And OH. I've yet to see the movie, but the novel "Eileen" was one of my absolute favorites of that year. Laugh out loud funny as to how humorously squalid it gets. I can't see how the movie could capture that. Especially since it looks a lot 'glossier' than the vibe of the book.
Watching Attonement and Anna Karenina the same day ... my heart wouldn't handle it 😭
It’s interesting to hear you and Clockworkreads’s VERY different opinions on Poor things and Black swan
Yes ariana's comedic timing was incredible!!
for Nosferatu, I think the accents didn’t matter too much considering they were supposed to be in Germany and the one Swiss character dropped his Swiss accent for British by like the end of his intro. The accents were very unserious.
But I thought the movie was fun, funny, and suitably dramatic
I love Brooklyn. The novel is compelling and beautifully written
please more of these !!!
Smear campaign against Blake Lively? Are you sure?
Yeaaaa. Loved your video Jack, but you need to update yourself on the topic 😬😬
06:30 I went to a mental hospital in 2018 and they made us watch inside out lmao
I just finished reading Eileen yesterday, had nooo idea it was a movie too! I definitely recommend the book :) I think it's one of Ottessa's best books
My friends and I watched "we live in time" in a TOTALLY EMPTY theatre at midnight. Since we were alone in the theatre, we were able to rant freely and express ALL of our emotions about it as it was happening (we especially had a lot to say during the birth scene lol). We started to hate Florence Pugh's character by the end and found her undeserving of Andrew Garfield, so, not the best movie in my opinion but definitely my best movie memory of the year!
i have a list if all the movies i watched last year but i honestly don't remember half of them off the top of my head
black swan was just dark, magic like and mind blowing it was so interesting for the plot and the deeper part to being a ballerina
A made a video about a year ago, an wards show for 2023 movies. in that i did a best scene award and gave it to the recorded conversation in anatomy of a fall. the peak of an amzing movie. I love it.
the fact that we live in time got ZERO oscar nominations is insane to me 😭
pls make this video monthly 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow, i agree, there should be a best scene award
You know, everyone said Argylle was bad but I enjoyed it so, so very much. Maybe because I had little to no expectations, maybe because it's from the same director as the one who made the Kingsman movies (which I adore). But I haven't seen such a fun movie since I watched The Spy back in highschool:)
I almost didn’t watch this because I was like “eh, I don’t think I’d like only one sentence reviews” so I’m glad I watched it and found out Jack lied about that 😂 Super fun.
omg I had the EXACT experience with the alphaba and glinda song !!XD
No I’m so with you on Nosferatu - I keep wanting to like Robert Eggers’ films, but I never do 😭
I was locked in from the Priscilla review and it just got better and better
The Filmspotting podcast does Best Scene awards ❤ Yes it's just a podcast but it makes you think through your own favourite scenes of the year and the ones you forgot.
It has been SUCH a relief to hear your take on Nosferatu! I completely agree and have felt the same since it came out. Didn't love it (or like it much at all) and hated the acting, so I was shocked at how much others rave about it! Thank you for helping me feel sane!!
la la land comment is so real it is everything to me
Yess please best scene or best monologue award ASAP
Totally agree with your Nosferatu take. Visually meticulous in detail but the plot had surprisingly no dramatic tension. Everyone knows the story and what will happen - so that you're left with just admiring the execution. Though I thought the actor who played the Renfield character was fantastic. And Willem Dafoe can do no wrong. But my friend & I exited and were like: "Ok. So we saw it." We had nothing to really even talk about it was so blah.
We're loving new content❤❤
Wake up bestie, Jack dropped a new video! ❤
how am i just now learning that it ends with us is written as letters to Ellen Degeneres???
