I just bought a Panasonic UB420. It's not best of the best but it's good enough for my use case. I stream most of my content. I will be using the blu ray player occasionally 😊
With my TV not supporting HDR10+ and using an av receiver for my speakers, any reason to choose the Panasonics vs the Sony? Leaning towards the Sony but want to nake sure I'm not missing anything.
I would add that if you have a PS5 its built in Blu Ray is good enough for most people. I would only consider the higher end Blu Ray players if you have the TV and home theater system to take advantage of their capabilities.
@@Haydos I got my UBK90 in Aug 2018. It is a solid no frills player I recommend. At the price I got it for it is hard to beat. In 2021 I started experiencing hiccups with BD-100 discs (I suspect lens needed a good cleaning. I have done and put into storage as a backup) and I wanted an even more capable player and got the Reavon X200. Two players into one for my audio discs. If I was shopping today I would look into the Magnetar players.
@@HaydosI’ve used Panasonic ub 820 after coming from a cheaper Sony. My Xbox was SOO loud when I tried it for kicks one time. I considered the LG for my first player but Sony was on sale. I’d recommend the upgrade to Panasonic
@@robertfaulkner1824 yep. Thanks for that the recommendation. I'm definitely looking Into the 820 and the X700. The Sony plays 4k dv backups off of the network and the 820 has everything else including it being more reliable based on what I have seen
3D is a deal breaker for me, and I despise using the Playstation controller for movies. So I decided to drop the cash for a Panasonic DP-UB 820. I run a projector setup as well, so I’ll probably save up for an HD Fury VRRoom to run Dolby Vision.
Hi just a question? Can the Sony 700 playback full Dolby Atmos through your 7.1 headphones port , even if your TV just the Sony 32 bravia 2k ...or does come out as dolby digital 5.1 ? Thanks
People usually say that the UB9000 and UB820 have near identical video performance, yet whenever I have seen side-by-side comparisons, it always seems that the UB820 looks slightly saturated with its colour reproduction, whereas the UB9000 seems to get better detail and a more holographic image with the depth it gets from 4K Dolby Vision. Is this the case or just the machines not being similarly optimised?
Apparently the Reavon does play DVD Audio. It is listed under specs on their website. Very pricey though. You mentioned the xm800..What about the Sony xm800m2? It plays all the formats. How does it compare to the Panasonics and the lower priced xm700?
I have the lower priced Sony 700 and also the reavon 200. It compares well as I use a Linn dsm organic dac and pre amp for all the processing eg I use the two players as transports to spin the discs. So if you don’t have a top system I would suggest the Sony 700 is all you would ever need.
I have the Sony 700 and it's not that great. Almost all of my discs won't even play in it at all. They start to to play but then stop playing bourg 4K and regular blu-ray's. I would not recommend buying this unit from Sony. It's a complete failure.
Why are you watching this? Get back to low bit rate horribly compressed audio with tv quality series over much higher budget film productions. You don't need quality to see it on your 7 inch phone.😅
People who care about quality??? People who care about ACTUALLY owning their own stuff? You can always buy something digital but it's never truly yours. You never know what can happen to it

Is the Panasonic UB820 a big major difference from the Sony BP800M2?
I think LG, Samsung, Sony, and Panasonic should start making multi region 4K UHD/VCR combos since some people still have VHS cassettes
I'm lucky to bee happy with my 2 old Oppo's, the BDP-95 and UDP-205, so I don't have to buy a new player yet.

The Reavon UBR-X110 adds SACD and DVD-A to the 100, it is the player I have. I do wish OPPO had stayed in the game, their players were the best!

Nerrrrrrrrrrrerrrrerreeer. I love hearing that when I play my blu rays. The disk drive is soooo freaking loud. My LG ubk90 is silent
