Hey, I am 67 and grew up to the Beatles always loved this song!! Took the movie American Made with T Cruise to jog my memory (its on the soundtrack ) Forgot the talent he had!! RIP George.

That's 100% because Phil Spector produced it. That's his hallmark - all of his producing sounds muddy and tinny. It's not George's fault, except for not asking George Martin to produce this album. That's the "Wall of Sound" and I have no idea why Spector is so celebrated for it. All slapback and room noise. #sorrynotsorry

After listening to this song again after many decades -- and now knowing that background about the timing and nature of the song -- I'm going to assume George meant something along the lines of drama or arguments among his former bandmates and maybe their input on his own earlier music. Drama between Lennon and McCartney, and probably arguments by either of them about how they wanted George to play certain songs or Lennon's heavy criticism of the songs George tried to contribute over the years. If you listen to the lyrics again, he seemed to be thoroughly enjoying his newfound artistic freedom. ;) We miss you, George!
