These talks aren't necessarily meant to teach concepts (in this case statistics), but to show the importance of something so simple. Many who know of advanced concepts tend to forget where it all came from.
pretty low level lecture, that can be taught in pre-school basically, but not worthy of ted or a Nobel laureate. It was basically a first lesson in probability/statistics, even the demos were not that good.
look at the people, everyone is so confident about its own view .. I think it would be great if more people would understand what this man was trying to say
"Me and my fellow Nobel Laureates" should have been "I and my fellow Nobel Laureates" Not that, as a Speaking Coach, I would ever criticise a Nobel Laureate. However, what I would always say is - when you speak in public it's a good idea to rehearse your opening and closing lines!
Well said!! I immediately noticed the same. Very sad. And nobody is above criticism, we're all equally human! Btw, Nobel prizes are always very political (who wins, etc)!!! So it's not always a reflection of intelligence and talent, as we can see in this unimpressive talk.
Actually he should say what he likes the purpose of communication is to communicate and to be understood. If you wish to be pedantic then he may choose "My fellow Nobel and me". If he were the Queen of England he would say "My fellow Nobel Laureates and I" but "I and my Nobel Laureates" is grammatically incorrect. You always put the 'other' first in your speech as a mark of respect. Hence " My husband and I". This is the Queen's English which, is a dying art. On the whole I find that he articulates well.
One second you’re talking about inability to measure chaotic systems,and the next you are saying you can measure and keep our emissions to under 2%,which is it? Ya can’t have it both ways!
