This presenter is organized and clearly focused on his audience actually learning and improving as opposed to just showing off pictures, promoting or selling. Great job!! A much appreciated addition to the B&H collection of presentations.
As a Canon shooter since 1975, an ex-teacher, product designer and former racing cyclist I loved this. Great presentation, well prepared and with a good sense of humour. Look forward to more videos like this from B&H and Eric! Well done!
Great photos and presentation, I was just wondering if in your videos you could add the settings you use on your camera to get these photos. I’m a budding photographer and it would handy to be able to produce photos similar, just wanting know how you take the photos to being with. Especially how you had all of the air balloons in focus including the back one :)
Hey Eric, do you ever teach down this way (I'm in Portsmouth, Virginia)? You mention a lot of places along the coast that I've been, and I'd love to sit in on a seminar or class if you're ever down this way to teach.
The bare-tree 'block' in 1:29 isn't as effective cause you see the whole tree/object so it is just an element of the photo. To be effective as a block only part of the object should be in the frame as in 15:33, 27:56, 1:15. Also the shot in 11:53 (shown in several places throughout the video) is not just any odd framing but dark (foreground), light (middle-ground), dark ('sky'/top part). This is a particular way of framing that can be accomplished just with light as often used by the classics. In this particular instance the leaves/branches act as the dark top part/'sky' and it is very nice that one can see their silhouette.
The picture someone asked the location of is a place called The Dark Hedges, in Northern Ireland. It's been used for all sorts of tv programmes such as Game of Thrones etc
The pic at 40.32 does not have "problems" if it's a travel/vacation pic. The signs shows where she is. It's actually the signs that tell half the story.
A pretty harsh comment on the video, "How to improve your photography instantly"... 1 hour 29 minutes long", and some pretty harsh feedback from the group. My thought... TONS of great information included here but anyone who teaches, (especially anyone who teaches adults) will tell you that our ability to sit and absorb information doesn't come anywhere near 90 minutes. I "think" this may have been what Mr. Hydrox was trying to say.
Christopher, My main "go to" lenses are the 70-200 2.8L IS II, the 135L 2.0 the 200 2.0L IS and the 16-35 2.8L II. Lenses are an important part of composition but it's only a part of the equation.
Nevermind Eric, I've been in photography now for a little while and am really past the basics but still find lectures such as yours insightful. People can listen to lessons basically while doing work around the house etc. Funny how an hour and a half is long for a lecture but not to watch reality shows, blockbuster films etc. :) Good job Eric, you are a great teacher
red, YELLOW, and blue are BASIC COLORS, not green in place of yellow. Very nice presentation but you have lost many points as a mentor doing this kind of a mistake. Rgb is in your monitor.

I agree. And I have seen the type of sessions you have mentioned even with BnH

I love that you showed your 30 year experience and knowledge into a 1 hour or 2 hour presentation ❤️
Holy Shi7, I just found these B&H videos. Playlist created. Hours of “classes” being watched!!
Gas station... I did the same in Bullarto, Victoria, Australia. Funny, how similar circumstances also exist in other parts of the world too.

Thanks B&H
Really enjoyable basic but helpful discussion by a great communicator.
The rule of odds is a very old principle. It makes for pleasing images and flower arrangements.
57:35 What do you have for colorwheel?
Blatta, I have an old one buried somewhere but don't need it anymore. A local art supply store probably has one or Amazon.
The pic at 40.32 does not have "problems" if it's a travel/vacation pic. The signs shows where she is. It's actually the signs that tell half the story.
The picture was taken to demonstrate the point that was made but yes, there are many ways to look at an image and come to different conclusions.
Thanks for this video. The presentation was clear with great examples. I'm just starting out in photography and this was so helpful!
Eric , this was excellent!!!
Brilliant tutorial thanks, by the way that was Lenin not Stalin.
it's a great lesson and thank you for it, but for some odd reason I could not relate to most of the example photos.
I thought it was just me, i wasn't a fan of most of his images either. 🤷♂️
Brilliant tutorial,great audience,love it thanks
Enjoyed this presentation so much I watched it twice. I have to say it though--those are not socks ;)
Oh Boy, Tilt and Shift for the balloon picture at 1:13:35 hahah
Thanks for the informative lesson !
Good video, thank you very much! :)
1:21:43 Stalin??? He is Lenin! (Good video by the way)
1:22:10 He corrects.
I would have cropped out the branch at the left edge of the frame.

Kevin Balmer Hydrox is a troll. Usernames related to bleach are always trolls. If you can't concentrate on a 90 minute lesson then l pity you.
Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland
39:25
I'm 7 minutes in, does the introduction ever end?
Well, if I only Einstein were here...
You do not explain clearly as to what lenses you use!!!

This is really let down by not showing enough examples lazy presentation
"How to improve your photography instantly"... 1 hour 29 minutes long.
If I could download the info to your brain instantly I would. A little patience my friend!
Hey Eric, you don't need to answer to douche bags.. Excelent video. Congrats.

Never trust someone that has “stoner” as a last name... 😏 hehe
Aldo, if I had a dollar for every time I heard that . . . !
Great video but nice to end it with a nice joke. Thanks again Eric
So boooooooring
