This is a separate series from the gameplay. People asked for more info on the irrigation system I did, so here's a tutorial. I'll be adding other videos in the future on other things from that series.
I'm actually glad you took time to make a video like this, some of your experimentation has yielded good results, and as a scientist, i think it is better that we can share what we learned about the game.
I found your channel couple days ago immediately subbed and started binge watching your entire sms series. Finally caught up tonight and then boom new video pops up. Your upload schedule must be draconian. You deserve every single ounce of support you’ve received and more. Quality commentary and humour along with exemplary skills make for an extremely enjoyable watching experience. I’ll be watching you’re older videos now( gonna be starting with subnautica) and I’m sure I’ll love them too. Thanks for the hours of entertainment you’ve provided us all with during these somewhat boring times stuck at home. Really appreciate your dedication to your videos.
Forgot to add the part where you link the controller to the pistons and now you have to upgrade the pistons to level 5 so that you can increase the range to 15 which you need to complete this lol. Sat here like a spaz for awhile looking for what I had done wrong till I figured it out lol. Thank you though this is an amazing walkthrough!!
You have the simplest water system compared to other people. xD Some have intense logic gate/controller /switch action. With an added bonus of also collecting the plants. Some just use a giant ballista of water cannons to fire onto the field.... But yours is the best for simplicity sake, and you can even extend it to a large field as well. Assuming you're near a water source.
I’ve had a different water system for a while but I wanted something that doesn’t require logic or timers and stuff for my new world so this sensor idea is actually perfect. Ty
tip: for your second one, you don't need the physical timing structure or the sensors, just upgrade your controller and attach the pistons for the new plot and it'll fire in sync with the first plot.
put the piston that pushes 15-15-0-0 on a rail system and put a second water cannon system on the opposite side and you can expand this to 100 plots per water cannon. I'm currently watering 160 farm plots with only 2 logic gates, 1 controller, 5 pistons and 2 water cannons. It's incredible how scaleable this is.
did this and modified it a little, now i have a farm that auto harvest and plant crops in a push of a button. Its easy to understand, no other difficulties or whatever in logic gates, very simple, like it
That is probably the most simplistic irrigation system I've seen yet... and it works perfect... safe for lift crushers too... nice... totally setting this up tonight after work...
Your clarifications were great. This is a very good starter irrigation video. Players can learn and grow their knowledge from this. Good job. Thank-you
Excellent Thank's for this I can't understand why people disliked it as you clearly stated what the video was about, a great dummy proof water system for us newbie's.
Thanks for the video. I used this in survival for a 3x3 farm so I could use just rank 1 pistons and also keep from having to deal with bots atm. Currently in survival piston rank 1 only goes to a max of 7 (I have mine set to 6) also the speed is effected by the rank but it is watering so I don't care and it is a small farm. Don't forget to hook the controller to the 2 pistons. :)
Thank you Very much, I'm quite new to scrap mechanic because I bought it a few months ago thinking survival was a thing and forgot it wasn't and just got into it Because of survival and had no clue of what I was doing so this helped a lot!
december 2023, works, you just need to up your physics settings to advanced to mitigate the piston drop, it will launch on its own once the piston lengths are set up in the control, but just wait, leave the switch OFF, then once it goes back to its normal position, hit the switch and should work!
I don't know why but to me the piston keeps coming back again and again to its initial position, I built 2 and one worked but the second one does that to me and I don't understand why if I did it the same
I was having this issue because I connected the AND logic gate to the Controller and not the XOR logic gate... took me waaaay too long to work that out.
When he water cannon reaches the end sensor it goes back and forth between the sensor and the nearest block backwards and doesn’t return home? What do I do?
thank you so much for uploading this video because im very new in Scrap Mechanic and dont understand how controllers and logic gates really work but this helped me really out!!
i am from germany and really was looking for so much of this tutorials . and yours was really easy to follow. ty for that :-) and btw its the cheapest. so i like that , too ^^
ok, finally found the part you left out, which is where both pistons get connected. However very briefly at 9:41 your camera shows Pistion 1 and piston 2 connected directly to the controller. I tried connecting the pistons one each to a logic gate and my water cannon went all wacko and water like 3 random plots.
Thank you very much been watch since the start of survival these building vids give me a understanding of hoe controllers work and the building having to be attached i never knew for wiring water
thank you so much for making this videos it helps a lot. i keep on refer back to your other videos before but couldnt understand the logic gate and now i know a bit more better. thank you again.
I just adopted your system and i love it. The only problem is that, using exactly all your settings (i made copy and paste for everything) and at the end of the job the system get stuck and keep shooting the last place under the second sensor. Could you help me to fix it pls? Something wrong is happening. Thank you and excellent job!
The only thing I dont like about this is the regular maintenance it requires. I can't tell you how many times I have had to rebuild it cause it glitches out and suddenly a piston thinks its connected to something its not. There also seems to be an order of operations to the build. You can't just pull parts out and put them back in or it bugs. You rebuild all the logic from scratch with every repair.
I tried so hard it didnt work (maybe cuz not upgraded pistons to max or smth) and failed to do a 5x6 plot but i did 4x6 and THANK YOU even tho it didnt work as planned im still thankful cuz it worked at all.
Hey you can attach a chest to a vacuum pump in the chemical ponds and it'll suck up chemical, i just found this out today, was gettkng frustrated having to use buckets, so i decided to probablem solve, im going to try oil nodes next
Somehow I am missing something. I set it up exactly as you have it just switched the direction the pistons flow meaning instead of piston 1 being on the right with piston 2 moving off piston one but to the left I flipped that so piston 1 is going left with piston 2 going off piston 1 to the right but when I get to the controller set up it just says not in use like either you missed a step in the video OR I have something not set right but I am pretty sure it's identical to yours.
OK I think I know whats missing. You set up the two logic gates and connect the controller but I don't see where you connected the 2 pistons to as you only discuss the LG's and Controller and switch and censors before you open the controller setting which in my case is empty of settings as the 2 pistons have yet to be hooked up. Where do I hook up piston 1 (Edge of the garden) and piston 2 (Snakes the garden)???? Thanks
Beautifully made irrigation systems. I love them! Is there any way, that you can add another chip, so that the water pump won't repeat its steps back to its base, so it'll just retract directly back to base?
I followed the instructions with everything up to switching on with both sensors connected and once it reaches the end it stutters back and forth at the end between the sensor and the last glass block. Any solution or is this just a bug, because as soon as I switch it off, the water pump returns to the start. (Fixed!)
Could this be done using less controllers and logic gates if each separate "sprinkler" is wired into the original sensors, logic, and controller? I guess at that point it becomes a "cost" comparison of building lower level items vs upgrading controllers and such to higher levels.
I've followed every instruction step by step but when it comes to programming the Controller, all I see is "Not in use" instead of the sliders. Whats going on?
So, I made this irrigation system recently, soon as I pressed the button I noticed one of my pistons were invisible so I reset my game; bad move apparently. I can't load up my world 1 almost 2 days of game play because it keeps crashing.
IDK if they changed how it works, but when I follow this tutorial as shown exactly, my Controller has only 1 line and no possible options to change the numbers. What did I miss?
So followed your set up and worked great the first time. Went to set up a second auto plot next to the first and after setting it all up i flip the switch and the whole thing just studders at the first block. Iv narrowed it down to the AND block, just cant figured out what i did wrong. I'v triple checked the lay out from my first one and this vid, same results. Rebuilt it from scratch watching the vid, same results. Iv come to the conclusion that its just the game its self having issues, out of ideas. Anyone else running into the same issue? (Edit) i was running each plot off its own gate/sensor set up, i removed the second plots gate/controller and hooked it up to the first plots gate/controllers. both run great now.
@@ianfinlayson3006 I'd strip your set up down to the frame and redo it from the start, if you haven't already. May have forgotten a step or one incorrect wiring. Oh also note that both block B and the control block wire to block A, but separately. I noticed I was wiring the control block to block A by mistake.
I also noticed that my working set up was getting stuck at the end of the run and had to turn off/on again to get it to reset. They must have made tweeks to the code over the last few patches. Not surprising, it was bound to happen. Just gotta find another setup that works till the next patch.
If you planted that whole hill at once would you basically be guaranteed a boss? I think scrap man got one on the second night with around 100 and you have like 180 plots there.
Complete noob here but how do you set up the rules from not in use at 9min 3sec to just after vid dips? I've not played this much so feel like there is something I am missing
I was trying to figure out how to make one and had the same concept with the pistons. But I can't connect my cannon to the container when it's on a piston I don't see in this video how to do that?
So how do I get me system to return if my "gantry" goes out, moves over a couple crops and then back again. If it basically returns to the same spot, how do i get it to restart? Because with the ending sensor in place it basically thinks it at the end and the beginning so that's not working.
Great Tutorial However the 1st piston has to be level 5 and the 2nd piston has to be level 4 And you have to connect the controller to the first piston then connect it to the second before you can add the rotations
I like this but I am unable to this system as for some strange reson (posible mod conflik) logic ates and sensor are not showing up in the controler menu!!
Having the plant targeted from the sensor also removes the need for logic gates and additional sensors. Just a single pass through every time. ua-cam.com/video/081QuWlNx0Y/v-deo.html
figured out the same thing. So I upgraded it. I have trouble with the sensor triggering the water canon. canon only shots at every second glass block. No clue on that.
