    The data on historical geography is quite interesting, but how do you navigate the political minefield it represents?
    Already by stating that the only 0 meter distance neighbours to the UK are the UK and Ireland, are you saying that Gibraltar is NOT part of the UK?
    So what is it then?
    And the issue only gets worse when you go to more, ehhmmn, geopolitically sensitive regions of the planet. Even seemingly academic questions such as “What country did the Spratley Islands belong to in 1800?” can be rather problematic.
