Ahh, ok thanks for the tip. I do some stuff at my top corners but I like that extra part to hold the mitre tight

I found that the big cutters make it crack the little ones not so much. I actually tested that one day.

I’ve never tried that. I wonder if it has something to do with the smaller snips being more curved.

@sidingschool , Sir, I think it is because the small snips cut slower, so the material has a chance to "warm" up a little, by the way great video!

Damn, what are you using for cutters? Cutting like paper. Also did you precut channels into side pieces. Bottom piece?

Hi, I’m using Andy 3” siding snips amzn.to/3QD05Zv these are my go to snips for vinyl siding. And yep I cut out the trough of the side j-channel sometimes before I put it up. Sometimes I run them long and leave the top not nailed so I can cut it out when I finally get up there.

Who's the manufacturer of those shears

Hi Jesse, they are made by Malco and they are called “Andy snips”. I pinned a comment that has an Amazon affiliate link directly to the snips I use, but feel free to shop around.

The technique is great but without the right snips, your results won't be nearly as clean.

Good sharp snips make for a cleaner looking job! I use the Andy Malco 12” snips, but I’ve seen people use the shorter Wiss snips and those work well too. I just prefer to have less weight in my bags so I stick to one set of snips. Most brands make lefty and righty snips which can be helpful in different situations.

i do a lot of my own home stuff repairs and what not...and just had my house resided in the last year ...and my best friend he owns elk county contracting so he did it and did a great job... but there is some things that i want to cover with siding that he did not manly because they were not the way they are now when he did the job... but now that i have got them in the almost finish scenario...i wanted to finish them off with some siding ...and i am doing it myself with some extra vinyl siding that was left over ...so having someone who has great ideas and breaks it down in a manner that i can easily replicate is awesome! i can ask my friend but he already gave me a great deal and then he put my roof on for free i just had to buy the metal so i dont want to think i am taking advantage of him or not appreciative of everything he did for me...i value my friends too much...so i Appreciate ya man I live in Kersey PA Elk COunty PA! High wind area so this way of 45 ing j channel works for my area and purpose times a 100! THanks man!
