    Thank you for taking the time to explain things I live in VA. 52 disabled (bad nerves in feet and legs) . But I have implants now and have given me some of my life back. I was a awesome swimmer as a young man. So I figured if I can't walk all that well or dam sure can't run lol I can swim again always wanted scuba diving license. Studying SDI now.

    Good choice!! That’s actually my 2nd favorite BCD and I love using this when I travel. It actually reminds me of my Scubapro xtec harness with a wing (my favorite BC setup) which isn’t as easy to travel with. Aqualung did a great job with this one and the price was very reasonable!

      I believe many of us love the BP/W but I teach so much I prefer the Hybrid... many because of surface discussion. U/W it's like a wing anyway. Regards, Bob C

    This is my BCD of choice. Been using it for a couple years now and love it. Traveled from Wisconsin to Cozumel and to Bonaire with it, and while technically not a travel BCD, it’s pretty light. Yes I use it for cold water 7 mm wetsuit dives all the time.

    • @DiversSupplyYT

      The word is getting out just how versatile and comfortable the Axiom is and because it's "somewhat" light weight compared to others it's great for travel.
      What's best is it's Hybrid design gives the benefits of a BI BC U/W and a Jacket on the surface.

    I got this BCD last year together with the Aqualung Core Supreme regulator set, with a nice discount. My LDS didn't want to sell me anything else! I only went on one dive trip so far (Tenerife), but love the comfort of this BCD. My brother then borrowed it for a trip to Bonaire and he really liked it as well. Awesome video with lots of good information, as always. Been thinking about getting the Hydros Pro, but this looks like it has many of the same features and a lot more affordable. Bob always seems to point out something that I would not have considered, like in his dive computer video about a wrist mount versus a console type. Would love to have him as my instructor as he explains things very well and seems pretty mild mannered with lots of patience. Guess I’ll have to take a trip to Jacksonville in the future.

    I have a question. Some bcd have a back plate (longer or shorter) to hold the cylinder. Here I do not see any. Is it possible that the cylinder will be mounted not streight which can lead to a problem with weight distribution?

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  2 роки тому +1

      You are correct there "appears" to be no Plate, but there is a small one between the back pad and the bladder where the tank strap comes through. It has a curve in it that matches the tank to lock it in place. When you add that to the valve strap at the top, then the stiffness of the tank becomes the strength of the BCD.
      This helps with reducing weight and helps if you travel with the Axiom for packing.
      Good observation and question. I'm sure others have wondered the same thing. Again why I like the Axion as my FAV BCD.. Regards Bob C.

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks much for the comment and Axiom question. I have done a few hundred dives in both versions standard and i3 model.
      - When I owned the i3, the amount of internal maintenance required, was just beyond the convenience of the unit's operating mechanisms.
      * Just being able to simply place my hand on the lever was wonderful.
      - As an Instructor Trainer, for my gear to be closer to what my candidates were using, I added a left shoulder Inflator/Deflator / Pull Dump Hose in place of the oral inflator tube.
      - Sadly, since I teach more than I fun dive, my Axiom is more work BCD than fun BCD.
      Because of that I stick to the Standard Axiom, kinda like having heated mirrors on my Jeep Gladiator here in Florida...

    Hey Bob you did a very good job of explaining this bc, but I have one question. What is the difference between this bc and the Axiom i3? They seem to be very similar and I would like your opinion of the i3.

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  2 роки тому

      Thanks John !
      Actually I've been an Axiom fan pretty much since it came out. Plus I've owned the a couple of the I-3 version units, which in diving performance I really enjoyed. Kinda neat just to reach down and lift up to inflate or push down to deflate with that special I-3 mechanism.
      No searching for the inflator hose, so it was really handy. Also there's kind of a hidden oral inflator hose that replaces the standard inflator hidden somewhat under a large velcro flap on the left shoulder.
      BUT, I dive a lot during the year, each year, training everything from basic Open Water students through Course Directors and all those in between, so a lot of use on my dive gear.
      My problems came from the internal parts of the I-3, lots of problems and not easily fixed. Not just one I3 Axiom either.
      So I switched to the TUSA Conquest Hybrid, and a good unit. But about 4 years ago I bought another Axiom.
      ... and I'm soon to retire that one and buy another. If, and I say if, I wasn't teaching so much, I just MIGHT, might try the new Apeks Exo-Tec unit.
      Sorry for the long winded reply but you asked ! Best Regards, Bob C

      Kitty... It's a Hybrid. Feels like a BI underwater and like a Jacket style on the surface. Best of both worlds. This is done by the cut and folding of the bladder that allows air to shift depending on where you are in the water and your specific position in that water.

    Those weight pockets seem a little small, how much weight do they hold?

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  2 роки тому

      Al, I just went out a pulled the Axiom pocket, when to the weights and here's what the reality is... HARD WEIGHTS the Integrated pocket will hole 2 Four pound blocks without trouble. 5 lb blocks just will not go in. Now with SOFT WEIGHTS, a 5 lb bag will go in and I could get only a 3 pound soft weight in also. The 4 lb would not fit.
      So I'll safely say that each pocket will hold a Total of 8 lbs. depending on the type and combo you try to fit in the pocket. I routinely put 3 lb'ers soft in my trim pockets on back. I normally dive a steel 100cft tank and either a two or three pounders in each of my trims.

    you call it a hybrid, but aqualung calls it a jacket. I'm confused.

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Joe,
      Terminology is also fluid in the World of Scuba.. Example: Scuba Pro calls their Diaphragm Style1st stages, "Membrane" regs.....they are the same thing. Some companies call their "Jacket" style BC's ... "Vest" BCD's. They are the same thing.
      In reality:
      A Jacket/Vest BC is great on the surface, but some what lacking underwater while compared to a Back-Inflate unit that basically forces you into a trimmed neutral buoyancy position under-water, while being less than desirable on the surface.
      HYBRID; Taking features of each does not necessarily mean the Hybrid will totally equal performance of each in their dominate realm, but it will give overall better (my .02) results than the originals.
      Anyway you look at Corn or Puppies or BCD's, when you incorporate features of multiple versions of something to try and make the end result better... it's a Hybrid.
      I've just been around Scuba (51 Yrs) long enough to have seen and heard the mass majority of marketing terms and design techniques let's call them.
      Thanks for your comment.
      Regards Bob C

    Why do these have to be this shape......why are these air cylinders not lodged into a more triangle shape like a fishes back....and reduce sea pressure

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT  Рік тому

      Actually a Sphere or round shape is the best shape to handle pressure. Thanks for your comment/question. Fish have very very little in air in their bodies as pressure means little to them. Their outside Hydro-dynamic shape is better for swimming. Regards Bob C

      Maria G, I must agree with you, MANY owners swap to a standard CAM style tank strap.
      And I'm mixing brands here, but oh well, the ScubaPro quickRelease strap is sooo much easier to use and will not be "hurtful" to the end of your finger...
      FYI.. love Spain. wine, food and my wife plus some of my best diving was off the east coast... Regards Bob C
